sickie

poor baby has her first cold.
a snotty nose and a nasty cough.
this is how she looked yesterday.
she is not enjoying having her nose sucked out.
and i am not enjoying feeling her cough on me.
i have to turn my head since she doesn't know how to cover her mouth.
i was able to get a smile out of her yesterday.
the previous night she slept every 45 minutes...
only to wake up and cry for 45 minutes.
it was a long night.
last night...knock on wood...was great.
she was asleep by 7pm and i woke up at 6:42am and she still wasn't up.
i went to check 0n her and she was fast asleep.
she is in a better mood today.
so i think she is feeling a little better.
(please excuse the messy face, she had just eaten)
i'm not sure how long a baby cold lasts but this is day 4.
i'm hoping just a week.
i feel lucky that she has gone 9 months without a cold.
i know exactly where she got the cold germ too.
at church! i let her play on the floor with another girl her age.
i guess that won't be happening again anytime soon.

9 month appt.

today emi had her nine month appt.

her stats:
19 pounds 13 ounces
29 inches long
she is in the 50% for everything.
the dr. says she is healthy and looking good.
i mentioned the whole milk allergy thing.
i was shocked when she mentioned she would refer me to a allergy specialist.
i thought for sure she would say, wait it out until she is a year.
as i was leaving the office i decided to call and schedule an appt.
it was our lucky day!
they had a cancellation today
and there was an opening in 2 or so hours.
so off we went...
i absolutely loved the allergist.
he was wearing a bright red dr. jacket
with a bow tie!
and when he walked into the room he said,
"well hey there little lady!" and waved all wildly to emi
of course emi thought he was nice and showed him her pearly whites.

i explained the situation.
he tested her for milk, eggs, soy and peanuts
she is for sure allergic to milk and egg whites
a little sensitive to soy and no reaction to peanuts.
the weird thing is, she is not affected inside.
like her stomach doesn't hurt or anything
just her skin gets irritated.
so that's good, her throat won't close
if she has a little cake and ice cream on her birthday.

he said she had extremely sensitive skin
which i knew that already.
so her skin is allergic to the proteins.
he said 90% of kids grow out of it by 2 to 4 years old
i'm happy we have some answers.
other than the allergy she is as healthy as can be.

a dose of my own medicine?

i'm not gonna lie.
i think i might have my hands full.
it's no lie i'm kind of bratty and really bossy.
but oh man! i might have met my match.

these were all taken within seconds of each other.
if it even comes slightly out of her mouth
she has a conniption fit.
eventually i have to say enough and give her something else.

nine months

emi is finally on the move.
during the last month, she has:
learned to crawl
she got two more teeth, now up to 6.
decided naps are for babies. and she isn't one.
she still sleeps 12 hours at night, so i can't complain.
she inspects everything.
and once she figures out it isn't food, she tosses it aside.
she screams high pitch screams, just cause it's fun.
she pulls herself up.
she cries if i leave the room, even if eddie is holding her.
she is starting to act shy around people she doesn't know.
she loves to rip or stretch things apart.
she is starting to bite, and laugh about it.
she will still eat anything and loves food.
we are pretty sure she is allergic to milk.
anything that has milk in it, this happens.
but we will ask the dr. for sure on monday.
she LOVES to suck on her spray bottle.
the spray bottle for her fluffy hair...it's getting long.
she is very ticklish, but squirms more than laughs.
she waves when she wants.
says hum? over and over, all day.
anything i say, she says...hum? sometimes i get a yell or scream.
you will know when she is mad.
she'll look at you, then look away...
and look back to see if your still looking at her
then she will crack you a half smile or blink really long
she has such a personality!

we love our firecracker!
i can't believe she will be one in 3 short months!!

christmas 2009

these were pretty much the only pics i took.
her with her new activity table from santa.
she got a new forward facing car seat, clothes, winter jacket
books, shoes, snow white dvd, treats...
spoiled little diva!
we had a low key christmas.
it was nice to just be us, but we missed family for sure.
i'm excited for next christmas.
maybe then emi will care what is going on.

Merry Christmas!!

we hope everyone has a fun and safe Merry Christmas!

first presents and christmas eve

eddie's parents sent some christmas presents in the mail.
and a few were to open right away.
and others on christmas eve.
what is it?
it is a snowman night light that changes color.
then she opened a second one.
it is a snow globe that plays music
and makes the snow go around and around.
she thought it was the greatest thing.
so tonight we ichat-ed with poppy and momo.
and opened her christmas eve presents with them.
a candle that glows so santa knows to stop by.
a 2009 baby's first christmas ornament.
on the end of the string was a wooden ball.
she was very interested in it.
thank you poppy and momo for the presents!

we also had the missionaries over for dinner tonight.
the one on the left is from AZ and has nine months left.
the one on the right is from UT and has been out five months.
that is one thing i have enjoyed being out here all alone.
is having the missionaries over once or twice a month.
they have been serving in our ward since we moved in.
the one on the left actually helped us move in.

all i want for christmas is my two front teeth

how appropriate.
christmas is in a few days.
and her front teeth are here, just in time.what is weird is she has not been fussy at all.
a little drool-ie but nothing like usual.
in this picture you can kind of see her other top tooth.
sorry if you don't care about emi's new teeth.
family far away do...and that is what this blog is for.
then yesterday i noticed another bottom tooth.
it is already through.
it just hasn't poked through far enough to see that good.
but it is nice and razor sharp.
she didn't really mind this time.
i think she knows the drill now.
and this is so annoying...
she constantly scratches herself in the same spot
regardless of how short her fingernails are.
hopefully she won't have a permanent scar near her left eye.
she makes this silly face when she crawls towards you.
like half serious/half silly face.
she is obsessed with the flower on her diaper bag.
i've learned i need to keep it zipped at all times.
she seriously tries to climb anything she can.
i thought she was going to face first to the ground.
but she recovered nicely.
then she freaked cause she was trapped by the strap.
she keeps feeling her new bottom tooth with her tongue.
here's the front view of the previous picture.
silly girl!
she was determined to get the tiny scrap of paper across the room.
she's starting to move so fast and get into everything.
everything, besides the christmas tree.
she doesn't go near it
and if we hold her close she flinches and closes her eyes.

swimming in felt

here's my quiet book so far.
7 pages, half done... out of 22 pages.

i've gotten some ideas online.
and lots of ideas from my mom's quite book.
i obviously still need to sew things together
but i personally think the cutting takes the longest.
matching shapes.
learning to tie a shoe.
i am going to use an eye lit punch to make holes for the shoe lace.
my mom's had an old mother hubbard shoe but
i thought it would be better to have a view like in person.
build a hamburger.
i plan to put little seeds on the top bun.
this bear will have a ribbon around it's neck.
and a mouth from black thread.
a christmas tree to decorate.
the red box will have all the ornaments in it.
which i have yet to make.
i'm trying to decide if i want to hand cut...
candy canes, angels, stars, bells and snowmen or just cut out balls.
this will be flowers in a vase.
the stems will be green ric rac
and the flowers center will be buttons.
so the child can learn to button a button.
this is going to be balloons.
but obviously i haven't put the ribbon for the string yet.
my mom's book had a clown, but i'm not going to make a clown.

more felt flowers!
a new design....and it's my favorite so far.
maybe it's the colors.
side view...
so i'm thinking...
of selling my flowers headbands and clips
in a tiny boutique here in KY
to see how they sale before i open an etsy shop.
