last week of toddler time

technically emi's in something called toddler time
preschool doesn't technically start until august
emi has thrived with toddler time.
she really was lacking socially when she began
crying even if left with my parents, who we lived with at the time
i knew something had to be done and play dates were not going to solve it
so i looked into the city programs
originally we signed up for an art class, her and i
then i found out about toddler time, it was for kids between 2 & 3
the first day the teacher suggested a class called brunch buddies
because emi was lacking so much socially
she wouldn't even let me out of her sight.
i am pleased to announce i barely get a wave bye anymore.

well this week is the last week of toddler time
on thursday we are having a field trip to a splash pad park
so i decided to do a 'teacher gift' on the last class day
emi really bloomed socially, so i decided on some flowers.

and emi insisted on making some cards.
i asked her what she wanted me to write
she said: happy father's day! ha!
i explained that is just for daddy's, gpa's and poppy's
her smiley faces don't look to happy, but they are :)

ms. miryam...has been with emi since the beginning
ms. susan the original teacher ended up with some illness
and had to retire. so miryam was promoted to head teacher.
until ms. kelly, emi's favorite came along.

ms. kelly is originally the teacher's aide in the 3 year old preschool
and will luckily be back over there when emi starts
i was a little nervous about emi starting a new class
right before mr. m is due to arrive
but i am comforted to know ms. kelly will be there
with open arms to welcome emi.
wednesday is my cleaning/laundry day
and i always find an excuse to blog, to avoid cleaning and laundry
i guess i better get back to work
before i download whatever pictures are on my camera.

weekly update {24}

ahh! we were without internet there for a few days
why this post is late, for last week
luckily i can just switch the date and it will post
as if i did it last week :)

emi is totally into photo bombing her own pictures.
and then she wants to see them right away.
emi loves eating her lunch on her "tv" tray.
she ate an entire jar of my mom's bread and butter pickles
she even chose salami and pickles over mcdonalds.

emi and her books.
i'm so happy she loves to read! she "reads" at least 15-20 books a day
plus the books i read to her daily.
she loves for me to pick out her three books before bedtime
i try to choose a different variety of books
where as emi will choose the same three over and over
and she has books memorized so much that i can't skip or paraphrase.
we even checked out 3 books from the library
we've read one so many time she has it memorized. smart girl.

emi has taken a nap everyday this week!!!
i have to lay down with her but she sleeps 2-3 hours.
i usually need to get up after 45 minutes
she will only sleep in our bed which i'm fine with
and her sassy attitude isn't gone, but very much improved.
the downside? she goes to bed at like 9pm.
the upside is she gets to spend time with daddy more.

well...here's my big ol' belly at 28 weeks.
this pregnancy has been way different.
with emi i remember her gabs and kicks
but this boy, oh boy
he is a mover and a shaker. so much it makes me sick.
and i get a little irritated that he is constantly moving/stretching.
he especially likes to move after 10:30pm....all the way until about 2am.
i'm starting to think he might have his days and nights mixed up already.
at my appt. this week i am measuring two weeks big
and my dr. thinks he is going to be a big boy
that's ok, we like big chunky babies around here.
i saw this onesie once, i wish i bought it but didn't
it said: i'm not chubby, it's all muscle.
i still can't stand to even think of chinese food or mexican food
but other than that things have settled down
and the heart burn has started, bad!
i'm still down 9 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight
and i have 11 weeks left, so there is a chance i won't gain anything
or just a few pounds :)

most people don't know emi this well.
since she tends to be a little shy/reserved.
i'm so glad i was able to catch this silly face she makes
this was after her nap, i informed her that her hair was looking a little crazy
and this was her face when she felt her hair.
poor child has my hair.  i so remember my hair always looking like this.

so emi has this new idea that she needs a purse.
she has all the essentials. coin purse, lipstick (fake), sunglasses
her old zoo ticket (debit card), the list goes on and on.
well this night eddie had a youth activity and emi and i were on our own.
emi had the brilliant idea of going to the yogurt shop after dinner
she said she needed a treat...and i'm always up for one.
so we head to the yogurt shop, purse in hand.
she insisted on paying for my yogurt. all in change.
the lady was so nice to wait for us to count our change.

on saturday we went to sesame street live
actually i don't know the real title.
emi loved it, especially the first half.
she was glued to the stage, then eventually started dancing around.
we felt a little far from the stage being in the box
but so grateful for the free tickets through eddie's work.

oh eddie,  your such a good daddy!
he is always willing to dance with her
and this week, she taught him how to tap dance
it's hilarious, i have a video but me, videos and this blog don't get along.
but every time she dances she gets on this pink skirt
that skirt is 18-24 months...good thing she has short little legs.
and she has to have her ballet shoes tied each time.

emi is full on addicted to this pre-k "game".
she doesn't even know what it's like to actually play a real game
she doesn't even know what angry birds is
but she loves matching shapes and things she needs to know
we finally decided to download it to her phone
since she was hogging our phones constantly.
not so sure that was a smart move.

see! she's addicted!
waiting for our dinner to cook on the bbq
the barn we are renting has this amazing cabana.
they never use it, so we try to get some use out of it.
it's been too hot to eat outside, but maybe towards the end of summer we will.

emi loves to help with dishes.
she knows how to load and start the dishwasher.
she can clean a toilet and wipe counters
now if i can get her to vacuum and mop.
i love she has to get on her tippy toes to turn the water on and off.

swimming lessons

emi finished up her second class of swimming lessons
and they didn't go as smooth as the first class
i knew on the first day she wouldn't pass
as she couldn't reach the bottom of the pool
and the other kids in her class were a bunch of 5 year olds
and a 7 year old!
the other parents are like, your daughter is so tiny
then they learned she is just three.
there was this one couple that weren't happy
once they found out their almost 6 year old was in a class with a 3 year old.
they would make comments all the time "under their breath"
one dad always stuck up for me who's kid wasn't even in our class
even mentioning my daughter passed the same test their daughter did
it didn't shut them up
i hope i am never the trash talker parent in front of the other parent
so many times i wanted to say, i can hear you!
as i clapped and was excited for emi, regardless of how she was performing.

i asked the pool manager about some sort of platform
which she says they don't use cause the kids were
walking off when the teachers had their backs turned. yikes!
the first week, her teacher would put her up on the side of the pool
so that was one set back
the second, and major one was that she couldn't reach
she didn't have the confidence the other kids had
they could just stand up and their head would be about water.

so we are going the private lesson route
which doesn't start until mid july.

emi had fun every day and that is all that mattered
i love that she has a smile on her face the entire time.

on the last day they had them wear vests.
so they could swim on their own

eddie made an appearance the last day.
thank you for coming!!

this is a good example of her "being held back"
they were playing a game where all 3 other girls could stand
but the teacher had to hold emi, since she couldn't reach. oh well.

towards the end of the lessons emi would get so lazy.
while her teacher was working with the other kids
she would watch the older kids in the big pool
and when her teacher would come near, she would start doing her arms again.
overall she progressed and that's all i could ask for
she completed 6 of the 9 goals to pass...so that's good.
hopefully by the end of summer we'll have our self a fish.

Father's Day 2012

i usually go through all the picture of the past year with emi and eddie
but i haven't had a chance to do that, so these will have to due
until i get a chance to go through the pictures.

emi's preschool had a special father's day function for all the dad's
some dad's weren't able to make it
but i'm happy eddie decided to come
he even took the whole day off to be with us
even though he could have just taken a long lunch.

emi made him a tie and made a card.
i was so sad i forgot my camera but i got a few good pictures.
and a tender video...of her giving him her gift she made
with them hugging and her giving him a kiss.

she made him this red block for his office.
she decided to make the hammer for gpa.
they shared a snack and visited with each other.

working on their art project.

emi and eddie during their snack.
thank you eddie for making an effort to make it.

after preschool we went to eddie's favorite place
squeeze inn, the hamburger place with cheese rings
eddie got mad i ate all the sweet potato fries....
kind of like when we were dating and i ate all his onion rings
that's a funny story....we decided to make a late night run to burger king
i decided to get fries, and eddie got onion rings.
i decided to help myself on the way home to his onion rings
anyone that knows eddie, he's never harsh in the way he speaks
so we are driving back to our apartment complex
and eddie probably asked me 3 times to stop eating his onion rings
so i decided i would look out the window and pop one in my mouth
he wouldn't see me, or suspect me :)
well eddie was like amber! stop! i can see you in the reflection of the window.
maybe you had to be there...but it was funny.

i asked emi a series of questions way back in may.
i found this sign online and knew i had to get it for his office.
emi also made him a card with her awesome smiley faces.
eddie also had some random tools laying around, tape measure/hammer
so i decided to hit up sear's father's day weekend sale.
i never shop at sears. eddie text me during the week, asking if i bought something at sears
i said: i might have....mind your business
in which his response was: just making sure we didn't have fraud. ha!
so now he had a place for his hammer, measuring tape and nails :)

emi insisted on us making pancakes for breakfast.
the series of questions:
what is daddy's name? my daddy
how tall is daddy? big
what does daddy do for fun? play with me
what is daddy's hair like? black
what does daddy do at work? make money for disneyland
how much does he weigh? i don't know
what are his favorite things to eat? soup (which isn't true but she always talks about making him banana soup, gag!)
what makes daddy the best? mommy and me
what does he like to drink? green smoothies
what is our favorite thing to do with daddy? play games (domino's and candyland)
how old is daddy? i don't know
how long have you known daddy? i don't know
where did you and daddy meet? i don't know

i also did one for my dad with different questions
but i didn't write down for keeping what she said (he has the paper)
i do remember she said he was 77 years old
and he was strong enough to lift a chair.
also he likes to watch tv, he is good at gardening
and her favorite thing to do with him is work in the garden.

i didn't think to have her do questions for poppy. sorry poppy.
maybe i'll have to ask her and let you know what she says.

weekly update {23}

i've been trying to post this since sunday but our internet has been down

this week was a busy one.
i feel like i say that every week, i guess i keep us busy.
of course there are says when we don't get dress and usually clean

on monday i went bright and early to have my second glucose test
the first was early in the pregnancy because i have two
not good things going for me, i'm over weight and diabetes runs in our family
but i'm happy to report all is well.
i can't say that for the poor girl that threw up while i was there.
she threw up after only 20 minutes. automatic fail.
gpa was happy to watch emi so i could go when it opened.
after my test when i went to pick emi up we went over to say hi to charlie
when we went over he was on the opposite side of the pasture
he must have missed us, he walked all 5 acres to us

he must have really, really missed us
or maybe was hoping we brought some carrots
because he walked into his pen, something he has never done
so emi ran around the outside of the pen
charlie needed a drink after his long walk to us
emi was concerned about the goldfish
if you look by his nose you can see it. eats bugs i guess?
that is what charlie's dad once told us.

i love when emi sleeps like this
this is how she use to sleep as an infant.
i think this is when she is in a deep sleep.
this is also the night we go a/c units for our bedrooms
emi slept through the whole installation, at 10pm at night
but it was suppose to be 105 the next day.
and since we live on top of a barn, it can get hot in our house.
so our landlords insisted on installing them, they felt bad she was asleep
i said don't worry she won't even notice, and she didn't.
this week she also fell out of her bed
eddie and i heard a thud about 10:45
i said what was that? we figured it wasn't her since there was no additional noise
sure enough, it was her...fast asleep on the floor
we figured she wasn't hurt since she didn't wake up
but every night i have to push her closer to the wall
she likes to sleep on the edge.

on tuesday we got to babysit baby devyn
devyn is a little shy of 6 months old.
doesn't sit up and eats every 3 hours....
i also found out she only takes 30 minute cat naps...every couple of hours
she is a sweet, calm baby but nothing like how i remember emi was
made me a little nervous to have a non-sleeper
emi took great naps and ate every 4 hours...was sitting up by 5 months
emi was a great helper. made me feel good that she would be a good helper
there was even a point i got shhh'd for talking while devyn was sleeping
emi was so meant to be the oldest, bossiest child.

emi also had swimming lessons again this week.
i actually took pictures with my camera on the last day
so i will post those pictures soon.
but i thought this was funny
emi chose to have a sucker as her treat after swimming lessons
as we were driving home i notices she was crunching on something
i turned to look, she was finishing her pretzels...
pretty smart to put her sucker there.

this day something funny happened at swimming lessons.
i brought myself a sucker to have while she was swimming
during her lessons she kept calling for me
your not suppose to acknowledge them, so i ignored her
finally she flat out asked me if i was eating her sucker! all mad.
i had to go over and show her i was eating a green one, not the pink one she chose.
amazing i get in trouble/ scolded by a 3 year old and have to explain myself
i'm not sure i'm cut out to raise a 3 year old....
newborns/babies...easy...a sassy 3 year old, no thank you!

eddie was able to attend her last day of swimming lessons
he had taken the whole day off to attend
emi's preschool father's day function.
we decided to get some snow cones to celebrate...her not passing :)
i knew she wouldn't, she couldn't touch the bottom of the pool
not to mention, everyone in her class was 5 turning 6.
we also found out emi doesn't like snow cones. weird child.

emi loves going over gma and gpa's
she loves to play this fish game
play with the puzzles and read books
not to mention the view finder thing...she calls it her goggles.
this day she got to help gma put flea medicine on ozzy.
this is also the same day i went and got my rhogram shot, since i'm o-
emi went with me to my appt.
i warned her i was gonna get a shot in my butt.
she was all nervous for me. while getting my shot i tried really hard
to talk to her so she didn't even notice
the nurse said she was done, and emi goes:
did it hurt? i said nope, not at all.
in emi's hilarious deep voice she said: mommy! you sure?
you have to hear her say it, it's hilarious.
she says it usually when i'm in big trouble for knocking her pictures off the fridge.
anyways...i had to have a band aid and emi wanted to see it
so i showed her and she laughed, hilarious i had a band aid on my butt i guess.
then she said: we need to show daddy! the nurse had a good chuckle.

saturday was such a long day
we went to tanner's championship basketball game
they didn't win, but they also played kids 3 years older
we stood in 100 degree weather while tanner got his trophy
i was waiting and waiting for tanner's name to get called
so i could take a picture...turns out he was one of the first kids
i missed it! i forgot last week to mentioned something funny
that happened at his game.
tanner was playing basketball obviously and my dad and eddie
yell for tanner to put his hands up to block i guess
well when he put his hands up, he totally knocked the kid coming behind him
in the face, knocking off his glasses! and giving him a bloody nose.
what are the chances of that happening on accident.
what made it more funny was tanner totally had a poker face on
and didn't flinch or say sorry (acknowledge he even hit him)!
but after the game had a good laugh about it.  like did you see that?!?

eddie needed a hair cut bad!
of course emi found some books to read.
she sure loves to read.
her teacher told me she is the only kid in the class
that sits for a story and reads every book with her
each week they have a different theme, so new books each week.
we also found out that this same teacher emi loves
will also be her teacher's aide in her preschool class in august.
two more weeks, then summer break.

ugh! the bratty 3 year old came out with eddie.
usually he is just exposed to nice, funny to be around emi.
emi usually is so good about taking a nap when eddie is home
i should clarify. she is usually good about napping in her own bed
she will nap with me daily if i lay with her
saturday she spent over an hour tossing and turning
finally eddie offered her to come lay on him
sure enough, she fell asleep within seriously 1 minute.
annoys the crap out of me, how someone can be so stubborn.

we finished the week off with vince's.
hmm....wish i still had some left overs.
even though it was a treat to go out for father's day
it wasn't even eddie's choice. poor guy.
i always want italian, he never wants it.
he was so nice to let me pick, tell him where we were going to eat
eddie enjoyed homemade lasagna.
he also encountered emi's embarrassing conversations
about how her boobs are getting milk in them!
i've never seen him so embarrassed, luckily no one heard her.
the milk in her boobs probably deserves a post of it's own
but really i'll just get it over with now.
emi has only been exposed to babies that drink out of bottles
i plan to nurse mr. m
so i showed her some pictures and have explained that mommy's
get milk in their boobs and that is how babies eat...etc...etc...
so emi makes comments to me all the time about her milk coming in
i've told eddie about it, but he hadn't ever heard her
well he thought the conversation at vince's was bad...
later that night emi had her shirt off and mentioned her boobs had milk
eddie said no you don't, she said yes! see!!!! squeezing her boob.
i was dying laughing. eddie is like...who showed you that? who told you you had milk!
trying to totally accuse me of something.
i showed her the book just once, nothing ever with my own body.
i said just wait...soon enough she will be nursing her own baby.
