weekly update

one of the activities makai's speech and infant educator teachers
have suggested is table time.
where he sits and does an activity.
he has been opposite of emi.
he eats play dough, so i make him have his paci.
and he colors on himself instead of paper.
and stickers he sticks on his body, never paper.
but we are working on it.
we did play dough again without his paci.
even though he smelled it, smashed it on his face (eyes)
he licked it but never ate it this time.

typical picture of emi.
she hates to have her picture taken lately.

makai asks to go to the zoo multiple times a day.
and by ask i mean he signs: elephant (which our zoo doesn't have)
monkey, lions and snake (which he thinks is sleeping in the tree branch)
and every day i say, maybe tomorrow or not today
and he pouts and acts upset for 2.5 seconds.
then he asks me again 4 minutes later.
so one morning we went before school.
most of the animals were still asleep but we still had fun.

the orangutan who is really shy was out early.
this is maybe the 5th time we have ever seen her.

emi had to have a picture with the leopard we have never seen before.
he was laying there on the rock, would have been a perfect picture.
but we had gone and looked at some other animals
before emi decided she needed to have a picture with him.
no wonder we have never seen him, he hides behind that rock.

makai is such a boy.
he spent more time watching and re-looking at the rushing water
we stood and waited forever for him to finally see something else.

makai only likes to watch sofia the first.
if i put something else on he makes a upset/disappointed noise
followed by his hands on his hips.
this is how she shows me what episode he wants to watch.
i just found out he will sit through the entire sofia movie.
so i use that when i really need to get something done, like shower.

another car seat nap.
this morning he spent all morning at gma and gpa's.
when i picked him up he was crabby.
i assumed he wasn't ready to leave.
but he fell asleep within minutes of us leaving.
pretty boring week as far as kids go.
i was crazy busy with my stake primary calling.
luckily the event is over, next one i have to plan is in may.
so back to my semi-crazy-normal life.

soccer

one more game and we are half way through the season.
we have an awesome team and have won all our games.
the game this last saturday was a blow out 9-1.
it's funny to watch these girls play and score a goal.
they don't celebrate. they did what coach heather has asked.
then they line up again, it's so funny.
emi has never asked about winning until after this game.
she asked who win'ded? i said your team.
she said: why do we keep doing that?! as if it wasn't good.
as long as she is having fun that is all that matters.

before the game starts they get checked to make sure they
have shin guards on and no earrings.

makai for the second game in a row found the only mud puddle.
we are thinking it is from watering the grass.

i thought this was hilarious, guess she had a wedgie.

it was sunny and hot.
a major factor to why emi's favorite position is sitting out.
or she did take a nap after her game
so there is a strong possibility she was sleepy.

waiting for the game to begin.
she usually plays 2 quarters as defender, 1 sitting out
and the last quarter she plays forward.

monster makai sporting his fresh haircut.
it turned out ok. totally worth the $8 to me.

so emi has yet to even touch the ball during a game.
she went 5 games and she finally kicked the ball.
emi is not an aggressive player.  she just kind of stands and waits.
if the crowd of bunch ball runs by she just stands and watches.
but today she actually kicked the ball away from the girl.
her coaches were so proud of her.
and of course we all were, and she was so proud of herself.
you would have thought she scored a goal by how many cheers there were for her.
all the parents know she plays for 'social reasons' we joke.

here she comes to give gpa a high five.
she was so happy yet so embarrassed.

she does this tongue thing when she feels excited or awkward.
after the game she couldn't stop talking about how fun it was to kick the ball.
maybe next week she will kick it twice.

weekly update

once one person is up...seems like everyone is up.
makai has been climbing out of his crib at 5am
like on the dot every single morning this week.
then once emi hears makai is awake she gets up.
so then eddie gets up and ready for the day.
all while i feel like i j.u.s.t fell asleep and am being forced to wake up.

i finally decided to take a picture of makai
when he comes and gouges my eyeballs.
recently he has started patting my cheek instead of forcing my eyes open.
i swear this kid has nocturnal vision or something.
he won't lay down he just climbs all over eddie and i.
eventually going through bathroom drawers.

this was a failed nap.
wince i pick emi up in the middle of his old nap time.
i try to leave early enough so he will fall asleep in the car.
this day it didn't happen and he didn't like waiting one minute in the car.
he wants to get out and find sticks and look at the buses.

friday night emi's school has a luau.
it was close to 100 degrees, so hot for 6pm at night.
here she is with scotty and paisley, who are cousins.

emi actually ate cotton candy, i think for the first time.
and makai enjoyed a small snow cone.

saturday after their soccer game we invited paisley over to play.
her mom was out of town and we thought her dad could use a break.
emi and her were in emi's room for hours.
they played hide the pencil and 'frozen'.

ah! another car seat nap.
so tired his paci fell out.

monday night we went to the circus.
this is the only picture i got of the entire night.
makai loved it and actually sat still for a whole hour.

i have lots of these car seat nap pictures.
the only time he sits still and isn't destroying anything.

makai likes to play on the playground the entire soccer practice.
he plays with older kids, some who are mean to him.
in hopes to keep him closer to me for longer periods.
i brought mini oreos. backfired on me!
he would grab a handful and run.
eventually he stayed for 2 minutes and i wanted to take his picture.
this is his version of a smile i guess.

i was headed to sprouts to get some stuff before we needed to pick emi up
there was a fire truck in front of us also turning.
i showed makai and the next time i looked back he was asleep.
before the light even turned green.
so i turned into the parking lot to drive towards the school
and he woke up, and started yelling woof, woof, woof!
petsmart is right next door to sprouts.
so we headed into the pet store. he loves all animals...except fish.
he got a little nervous around all the fish.

we headed to the zoo one day after school.
they close at 4pm, we got there at 3:30.
but you can stay for an hour after it closes.
there was no one there! not a single person, except for employees.

finally a picture of him looking at me and smiling.
he seriously never sat in the stroller.
he ran the entire time and wouldn't even stop for a snack.

the lion was resting/sleeping
makai kept walking around growling an making his lion/dinosaur noise.

after numerous nights of makai getting out of his bed multiple times.
a friend offered their crib tent.
i think it's meant for a standard "old school" crib.
but it is jimmy rigged and has worked so far.
i might take the railings off and move the mattress to the floor.
cause he most definitely won't sleep in it in the day.

emi teased him, ha, ha, ha, ha!
you have to sleep in a cage. such a mean sissy.
luckily these pictures are from when i tried it out before bed.
when i put him to bed there was only a little protest.
can't same the same for the two times he woke up freaking out.

ka-new-na (kahuna) kickers

don't let that cute smile fool ya!
she really isn't a fan of soccer.
she looks so happy because she is doing her favorite thing about soccer.
when asked she said her favorite part was sitting.
like sitting out a quarter.
second was the celebratory tunnel after the game, then snacks.

telling me no pictures.

and then giving me the stink eye for not stopping.

eddie has refereed her first couple games.
which is funny cause he has no clue.
he went to a 2 hour referee training.

makai is better at soccer than emi.
he is all about the action and can dribble the ball.

no action shots of emi.
she is a natural defender so she just stands back and waits.
she isn't a ball chaser.
is she isn't needed she just stands there and watches the bunch ball group
it's actually pretty funny to watch.

during half time tanner is so nice to entertain the monster child...
i mean makai.
this last game he went and laid himself on the field as the start whistle was blown.
i guess protesting he wasn't happy he wasn't allowed to play.

gpa and tanner made emi a sign.
it was the cutest thing.
she was equally excited and embarrassed.

oh, i'll just grab me a handful of these.
he has his own snacks but always prefers the halftime snack.

he probably had like 5 grapes in his mouth.

gpa was so nice to help makai at the playground.
he has no fear and does stuff way to old for him.
he goes straight to the highest and most dangerous slide.

emi with her bestie paisley, who rocks at soccer.
i think she scored twice this game.

had to get a picture of emi with her sign.

the next game was at her field she practices on.
so makai was on his stomping ground.

just standing and watching.
she is the laziest soccer player i have ever seen.

only picture i got of eddie and emi together.

makai loves bothering presley, paisley's sister.
she sits in that chair cause is she isn't, makai "steals it"
guess i need to get him his own chair.

he saw chris coming, their dad....and this is his little stinker face.

he ran real quick and sat in his chair.
he seriously is such a naughty boy,

oh just emi doing her favorite part of soccer.
the title of the post is how emi says her team name.
