3 months old

seriously. i think i need a bumper sticker that says:
my kid is cuter than your kid.
how did i get so lucky to have such beautiful children.
eddie and i had a good chuckle: isn't that ugly people make cute kids?
we've heard something like that...we must be ugly!

i can't believe makai is 3 months already.
time is really flying by.
doesn't help we are in full on holiday mode where oct-dec fly by.
i couldn't choose just one picture.
but this was my favorite of his monthly "photo shoot".

oh makai! you are the most wiggly worm baby i have ever held.
your a pain in the butt when going to sleep.
you like a specific position when being held to go to sleep
and if you can't get comfortable you just keep wiggling half asleep.
the nice thing is, if you are sleepy you fuss for just a few seconds.
if you find your "spot" you are out within seconds.
you also got your first haircut! just a little off the top.
hopefully that will stop the jaw dropping of strangers at your super long foe-hawk.
your older sister hasn't even had her hair cut yet!

you truly want to sit up so bad.
i think you will be an early sitter like your sissy.
you always want to be upright or sitting up
i suppose you don't want to miss out on the action
except our lives are boring, unless you call staying in your pj's all day exciting.
you are also the most mellow baby.
i think you will be chill like daddy.

you are talking so much lately.
i especially like when your not happy about something.
you go on and on about something like your explaining the issue.
you are also trying so hard to suck on your hand/fingers
but once you get them to your mouth you make a grossed out look
like what in the world was that!?!

you like to do what i call "social nursing"
i have to not look at you sometimes
cause you just want to make eye contact and 'talk'
or you pull off, look at me and smile then latch back on
only to do that over and over after just a suck or two.
you love to watch everyone.
you follow me everywhere i go with your eyes.

you are huge! you are just turning 3 months and you already wear 6-9 month clothes
you fit the weight perfectly but your a little short.
we will have to get you a new winter wardrobe, good thing christmas is coming
since most of your 6-9 months clothes are more spring/summer wear.
somehow i should try to weigh you to see what you've gained in a month.

your eyes are still looking like they might be blue.
you still will only fall sleep in someone's arms or the swing
starting next week we are going to do some sleep training
hopefully you are a quick learner in self soothing.
your still eating about every 5 hours.
you generally take 2 naps between feedings or one long one.
you usually eat, within an hour you are ready to go to sleep.
sleep 3 hours on a long stretch then wake up an hour before feeding time
or you go to sleep right away and sleep for an hour.
then stay awake for an hour to go back to sleep until your next feeding.

our schedule right now is:
2-3am, 7am, 12pm, 4-5pm and 8pm
i'm trying to push your night feeding to 10 pm, so you will sleep longer at night
but you just get so sleepy and can't stay awake past 8pm
and when i do feed you that late you still wake up between 2-3am
i'm looking forward to when you sleep through your night feeding
except i don't see that happening anytime soon.
your sister left you big shoes to fill, she was sleeping through the night at 8 weeks
the roughest part is between 4:30-5:30 when you think it's time to wake up for the day
and i have only been asleep like an hour or two.
luckily you go right back to sleep when you come into our bed
but that is a bad habit i am looking forward to breaking soon.

this is for the grandparents to save to their computers if they choose.
and a big thanks to my lovely assistant miss emi!

setting up christmas

who needs a star when you have a monkey?
we thought we had a star but can't seem to find it.
so our stuffed ornament will do for now.

we haven't set up a christmas tree for a couple years
so it was fun to see all our new ornaments.
whenever we go somewhere we try to pick up an ornament.
those are 8 years worth of ornaments...not to shabby.

emi was sooooo excited to decorate the tree.
when i was un-tangling it or whatever you want to call it
stretching out the limbs :)
she kept hugging it for some odd reason.
i personally can't wait to get a real tree, one day.

we also broke out the kid nativity set.
i wanted to have something for emi to play with so she isn't interested
in touching my nice willow tree nativity set.
emi has a little ocd like me i think, she wanted to do it just like the picture on the box.
and since this picture, i have purposely messed it up
just to make her get her panties in a wad about me messing it up
just for her to fix it. such a mean mom!

makai could careless. eddie was a big helper.
and if you couldn't tell by this picture
emi needed wanted to get it just right.

makai doing a little "tummy time"
seriously night and day from when emi did tummy time.
he tolerates it, he doesn't exactly enjoy it but he doesn't cry.

see, getting it just right.
looks just like the picture.
you can see my nativity scene right below on the shelf.
wish i had a cute entry table or somewhere better to put it
but this was the best option for now.

loves these two!

yay! we are all done decorating.

silly face!

once we were done decorating emi snuggled with makai on the couch.

this may sound awful! and come out wrong...just to warn you.
and i can't believe i am saying this "out loud".
but i can't wait for makai to sit up so i can get some cute pictures
with out emi in them. just makai. alone.
there i said it.

seriously so cute.
do i dare also say, i think he is cuter than emi was as a baby.
i love emi. obviously! but he just melts my heart. such a cutie.

i love when she does a real smile.
she loves him so much.
notice the skin color difference. he is very fair.
she too is fair with a little olive color but he is almost vampire white.

this was hilarious.
he was falling over and she was trying so hard to help him up
glad to know she can't lift him
hopefully she remembers that if she ever tries to carry him.

after makai was asleep we walked across the street.
he is a light engineer, so we hear.
he has the lights set up to a radio station and go all night
well from when it gets dark until like 10pm.
we have the perfect view from our house, especially emi's room.

weekly update

this should really be about our trip up to oregon for thanksgiving
since that is what my pictures are of this past week.
i didn't take any pictures on monday because i was
getting laundry done, packing for 3 people
all while cleaning the house, i'm weird and enjoy coming home to a clean home.

we decided to leave tuesday afternoon
well tuesday afternoon came and went
eddie couldn't escape work like he had planned....
so we left closer to 6pm after we stopped by in and out for dinner.
makai sudden can't stand being in his car seat
so that is why we decided to drive through the night.

we made it to momo and poppy's at 3:30am
only stopping once for gas and to nurse (the way home...didn't go so well)
makai was wide awake at 5:30 just two hours after arriving.
i was a little sleepy to say the least.
luckily he went back to sleep until 7 or something close to that.

we spend the next day visiting poppy at the bike shop.
and went to our favorite chinese food place
pine garden in west linn have the best green beans!
you won't be disappointed. i'm sad i didn't get an order to go.

so we are leaving for utah on wednesday and we decided to get emi some headphones
ear buds don't fit in her ears and in the past she would just
watch movies with regular volume or i was able to distract her with something else
well since i will have makai to take car of
i wanted to make sure she is set and can take care of herself, basically
and not bother other airplane passengers.
so we gave the headphones a test drive during the week
that big bow is hilarious!

when packing our suitcases,  i let emi pack her own backpack
i didn't even check to see what she brought
she brought a few picture books and her autograph book from d-land
she also brought her magic wand...can't leave home without it.

emi has always wanted a violin...and momo had one that played music.
she played with it all week
and she loved reading all the disney princess books.
this was thanksgiving morning and i think this the only picture i took
we had a yummy dinner with gma and some of eddie's cousins.

on friday the boys went golfing then we went to our other favorite place
the philly cheese steak place, yum!
my mouth is watering just thinking of it.
russell sat with emi. russell was so good with emi all week.

we also went and visited with mom at work.
emi lucked out and picked out a purple popsicle.

this sweet boy did so good all week with out his favorite thing
the swing! gave me hope that i can get thru the next week without one while in utah.
i took this picture for my mom cause she loves his fat hands.

eddie and were able to go out on a date.
we went to this yummy place that specializes in biscuits
this was the reggie deluxe. fried chicken, fried egg, cheese, bacon, gravy...yum!
we then headed over to salt and straw and ice cream shop
and ended the night with voodoo donuts for a bacon maple bar

poor makai with his hair.
i think i am going to trim it.
eddie thinks she should just leave it
but i tried a comb over for a few days and it still made a foe-hawk.
this day his hair was air dried, no combing or styling involved.

makai loved russell and would always smile and laugh at him.

saturday night we got together with other family members at gma and gpa's house
it was makai's bedtime so we smashed him in some pillows
and slept the entire time in gma's bed

when we got home we decorated the tree, but i'll save that for another post :)
i also have more pictures from poppy's camera and some scanned pictures to share.
might not happen until next thursday when we get back.

weekly update

this next week is half over so i am playing catch up
should i even admit that i've already forgotten about this past week.

so mr. makai hates his car seat, all of a sudden.
i did add a car seat canopy lately, so maybe he is a little claustrophobic?
we have this hanging giraffe thing.
he doesn't like it hanging in front of him but propped just right
so they can see each other eye to eye.

he splashes so much when given a bath.
that i moved him into the sink. not sure what i'll do as he gets bigger
i guess hope and pray he sits up soon so i can just sit in him in the sink.
emi wanted to see if the mr. potato head glasses fit...not so much.

after eating i have to keep makai upright for 20-30 minutes
due to his minor reflux issues.
lately he has enjoyed being propped up against the couch
every once in a while his eye catches the ceiling fan or tv

this picture cracks me up.
emi loves ellen...like almost everyday she tells me it is 4 and ellen is on
in fact today i went and got my toes done and ellen was on the nail salon tv
emi announced as we walked in, hey! there's ellen. and every one laughed.
anyways, one direction was on and emi was rocking out.

we had to run some errands to get some supplies for gpa's birthday present.
emi loves trying on these cute and silly headbands.
she was practicing her princess smile, which includes a scrunched nose.

i'm not sure what is going on with emi.
but she has been super clumsy lately injuring herself
not sure if she is growing or just careless and in a hurry
but just this week she cut her chin open and scratched her back
how does one scratch their back on a bed rail? i don't get it.

saturday morning smoothies
emi's are full of fruit, eddie's full of nastiness
i mean...spinach and protein powder...and maybe some milk and some banana
if it's green she won't even try it...but maybe i can sneak some veggies in there.

eddie was super excited to be out to chinese food.
emi loves sesame chicken and wonton soup
she also enjoys picking out the peas and carrots from fried rice
she won't eat the rice but she will eat all the veggies.
emi was waiting so patiently for her soup.

tuesday of this next week was grandpa's birthday.
so this week we painted him something to put in his office.
we celebrated sunday night with smoothies and games.

so, i kind of want to cut his hair.
it is so long, someone mentioned it look like rooster hair.
the front wants to go one way and the back wants to go the opposite way
so we meet in the middle basically.
maybe i should just work on training it to one side. we'll see.

eddie, tanner and grandpa went to the BYU game
they didn't get home until super late and eddie was useless
except i didn't feel sorry for his lack of sleep
that is my every day :)
but eddie had fun despite the cougars losing.
eddie won some "gold" metal for throwing the football into some small hole.

this was taken after 10am one day.
outside it was super dark, windy and rainy.
emi was practicing her princess smile for our family pictures.
every day emi says she wants to stay in her pajamas all day.
my kind of girl :)
