weekly update

emi had her field trip which i already posted about
but this picture was on my phone and i had to include it.
they made those little caterpillars
and she thought it was disgusting she had to put handfuls of dirt in the nylons.
this is a classic emi face that rarely gets photographed.

i had some errands to run this day
and emi thought her hair was totally acceptable for public viewing.
she refused to let me do her hair.
i had to threaten her that we weren't leaving until i did her hair.

i sent this picture to momo.
emi loves to do the funny face features on the computer.
so when we were chatting with poppy i was able to snag this picture.

after eddie's race we headed to hobby lobby.
looking for something to decorate our shoe rack thing.
eddie rarely takes pictures, as i usually do it.
so i had to document it.

then emi wanted him to wear one
and then wanted me to take a picture. work it girl!!

poor makai and the nursery.
with stake conference, general conference and missing church due to naps
he hasn't had a good start. luckily he was fine with me in there.
but i am sure if i would have left it would have been a different story.

this day it was on him and one other kid.
his old church pants are too small and these ones are too big
since he doesn't have a belt, we went with suspenders.
his church shoes are a whole different situation.
his shoes don't stay on. they are his size but he walks out of them.
so he wore his crocs. ha! like an old man.

makai the messy eater.
when he is done he either puts his cup on his plate
and pushes his plate to the center of the table or tries to hand it to me.
or he dumps whatever is left.
since eddie isn't home most nights for dinner and was surprised by the dumping.
makai was like what? you new around here? i do this on the daily.

the other day makai was totally fascinated by a spider that was crawling on the screen.
he followed it for a good 20 minutes.
and when he couldn't find it, he would put his hands up
like where did it go? it was cute.
and obviously i need to clean my sliding glass door.

playing soccer outside. he loves being outside.

we've been in the high 80's, low 90's this past week.
so while i was out watering the garden we decided to get wet.
i still need to get a suit for makai so he ran around in his diaper for a while.
they both love it and i need to invest in a good sprinkler toy.

watermelon season is soon upon us.
crisp and juicy but not super sweet.
makai likes it but doesn't love it like emi.

i finally finished our little gallery wall.
i don't love it but i don't hate it.
i think i need to get that 12x12 to balance things out.
oh and take an updated family or kid picture.

bridge 5k

saturday eddie had signed up for a 5k in our community.
recently they completed a pedestrian overpass
and to celebrate it's completion they had a ribbon cutting and 5k.
the kids and i tagged along to cheer eddie on.

bright eye'd and bushy tailed for his race.

all the kids cared about was food. we left before breakfast.
pretty sure they are breakfast eating people.

i wasn't exactly sure where to stand to cheer him on.
so before the race started we headed over the overpass
and found a nice little grassy area along the trail.

i love that emi gets so excited to see him running by.
i said: there he is! in the yellow!!
and then she turns and yells...there he is!! in the yellow!!
as if she didn't hear i just said the exact thing.

eddie was so nice to wave for the camera.

they had about 1,000 registered to run the 5k.
but i highly doubt more than 300 people showed up.
we had a rain storm the night before and eddie even thought of not going.

makai was a little confused by the whole thing.
i think eddie running by confused him a bit.

he just kind of stood there and watched until he couldn't see him anymore.
then kind of fussed cause he couldn't see eddie anymore.
so we packed up the stroller and waiting for the rest of the runners to run by.

emi wanted me to take her picture on this rock.
when she realized it was mossy she got a little grossed out.

on our way back to the overpass we walked by a little beaver dam.
someone...an old person said: oh look there is a beaver.
so i have contacts i should be wearing for far away
but i never wear them. like ever. anyways...so i had to squint to see it.
i was like oh cool! a beaver...and i thought, that doesn't look like a beaver.
so i had to get my zoom lens out just to see the dang thing. i'm getting old.
lo and behold. it was a duck with her ducklings. there was also a turtle at one point.
no beaver! i could see just as well as the old lady. ha!

oh man i was so grateful i walked over when i did.
one we walked at a snails pace ...
since i had no clue how long we were gonna have to wait for eddie.
the lady being interviewed was walking just behind me.
so i got out of being on the news. phew!
and second eddie came up over the overpass before we were even out of snacks.
much faster than i had anticipated.

they didn't have an official finish line which i thought was lame.
but he finished and i'm so proud of him.

birthday boy

eddie wanted to go to farrell's for his birthday.
it just recently opened near us and eddie use to go as a kid.
i guess my aunt worked at one way back when. so my mom was excited to hear about our experience.

we ate dinner then they came and brought eddie his birthday sundae.
they turn this strobe light on above your table
and sing while drumming and marching.
not so sure eddie truly remembered his memory as a child
cause eddie is usually embarrassed by such things.

they had him get up and dance the macarena.
when they asked him if he knew it, he was like uh! what?
like you want me to what?!? but really he couldn't hear her over the drum.
he happily danced along which i got all on video...blackmail material.
emi said the funniest thing when he went to sit down.
she said: dad! that was kind of nasty when you shook your hips.
eddie and i had a good laugh.

eddie wanted to share the pig troft...double banana split.
he gave emi his birthday sundae they gave him.

the pig troft.
so i guess i never knew i didn't like banana splits.
i mainly ate the vanilla with strawberry sauce.
i am not a fan of fruit and chocolate, in any combination.
the chocolate and pineapple sauce seriously tasted like i threw up in my mouth.
but eddie liked it. and really that is all that matters.

they had a little old style candy store.
emi convinced eddie she needed a kazoo. ugh.
which luckily she broke some how.
but i think we need to go back for one of those hats.
Happy Birthday Eddie!!

fog willow field trip

today emi had a field trip to the farm.
it is the same location as the pumpkin patch.
but today they learned about science and had a chance to see all the animals.

we learned that the wife of the couple that runs this place
is a elementary school teacher and that's how it all got started.
she use to have field trips to her property way back when.

there were two cows and some girls where hanging on the other cow
makai wanted a picture of his own.
i love that i caught his face, which he does all the time.
too bad it is slightly blurry but still so cute.

finally the girls moved a little so he backed himself up to the cow.
he is seriously so fun to watch.

eddie was able to join us for the fun.
he took the day off work for his birthday. happy birthday!!
it was so nice to have a second set of hands to contain the monster.

first they gathered all the kids to go over the rules.
and they set off some volcano that was in the middle of the pond.

i guess they do this same field trip again in 1st grade...so we'll be back.
emi with her good friend mason.
they are both a little introverted.
so it takes them a good 20 minutes before they are best friends again.

so we are finding out that if makai doesn't have a paci.
he will suck on his left ring finger.
not sure if he is getting a cold or teething but he has had his hands in his mouth
has a slightly runny nose and watery eyes.
i don't think it's allergies cause he isn't sneezing or itching.

they learned how to be little listening cows.
it was fun to watch emi follow directions and in a class setting.

they had a few different stations.
this one was learning the difference between a liquid and solid.
my cousin posted a picture of her twins hair in the letter z.
emi saw it and wanted her hair that way. it turned out cute.

they had to look around. not sure at what, i wasn't paying attention.

makai wanted in on the action.
i'm glad i bought those boots. he looked so cute.
and maybe he can be where's waldo for halloween. kidding.
emi already decided he is going to be olaf.

i had to get a different view.
i thought it was so cute he was trying to see what they were doing.

then he saw the dog coming our way.
the farm has 3 saint bernard dogs that roam the far.
one of them is the puppy to the two parents.

they were getting ready to stir their gak.

for someone that hates to get her hands dirty and sticky she sure liked gak.

playing with the gak.

i took makai over to the baby animals for a little while.
some brand new cows.

a hog and donkey.
the donkey is a baby, he name is jelly bean.

hi scout, can we be friends?
scout had a dirty mane/beard...dirty drool
and makai wouldn't touch him, just kept making his dirty noise.

then they made caterpillars.
such a cute idea!! just dirt and grass seeds in nylons.
can't wait to see it grow.

then they got to see some baby animals.
mr. ray has the baby goat.
there was also a lizard, baby chicken and baby duck.

making a silly face at me as i melted in the sun.

i thought this was hilarious.
before we left they handed out their caterpillars they made.
i asked emi where hers was? she said she buckled her in. silly girl.
