visits

i'm excited to spend all week with these ladies.
and visit with other family and friends.can you believe that was almost a year ago?
not much has changed, except for emi.
maybe this year i will actually do my hair and make-up
for our quarterly generation picture.

working the oaks

this was eddie this morning at 5:40am.
he was all suited up for his day at the Oaks.
and tomorrow he will be at the Derby.

on oaks day you wear pink to support breast cancer.
tomorrow he is wearing a berry colored shirt
with a coordinating tie.

what a great experience for him.
he has been interning at Churchill
since last august, working towards this weekend.
wonder what he does? me too!
kidding, i sort of know.

he works in the sports marketing dept.
specifically, doing sponsorships....
which is something he wants to do for his "real" job.
today and tomorrow he is making sure
that his clients needs are met
giving them private tours of the facility
not sure what else...
but i will ask him when he gets home.

emi and i are so proud of your accomplishments!!
every goal you set for yourself, you always exceed.
good job eddie on all your hard work.
we love you!!

on a side note....
he was gone from 5:45am and came home after 8pm
he also came home with at least 3 blisters on each foot.
tomorrow is suppose to be just as long
but he is wearing different shoes
more comfortable ones i hope.

i made it

it wasn't that bad actually.
i ran around our apartment complex 4 times
only walking on the short parts
(of the rectangle)
to catch my breath
then i came home and did 50 sit ups.
it was actually a nice feeling
to have worked out and showered

before anyone was awake.
i might actually keep up with this jogging thing.

up to nothing

i've decided i just need to start working out.
and quit thinking about working out.

i hate gym equipment.
i literally stare at the time, the whole time.
so when it says i only burned 100 calories.
i am like...what a waste of energy.
and now i'm hungry.

and i can't do workout videos
since we live on the second floor.
i'm sure my downstairs neighbor wouldn't appreciate
the sound of an elephant jumping around.

i drew straws and running won. (kidding, about drawing straws)
i have never been a 'runner'
really my running motto has always been
only run if you have to save your life or some else's.

i think i can count on my one hand
how many times i have actually
...gone running
in high school when you have to run the mile
and in junior high, the 50 yard dash
i've run from people in my dreams
yep, that's about it.

so this morning...well last night.
i laid out my "workout" clothes.
gave myself a pep talk...
tomorrow is a new slate.

my plan was to wake up at 6am.
for some reason i woke up at 5:30am
before my alarm...anxious i guess
what do i hear?
rain!! answer to my prayers...
or another excuse.

it's looked like this for a few days.

tomorrow is suppose to be nice.
so i guess tomorrow is the day for a new slate.
hopefully i can make it more than 2 minutes.

in other news.
we have been up to nothing.
cleaning up after this tasmanian devil.
i can't turn my back for more than a few seconds.

that's about it.

box and baby

emi has been having fun with this box

crawling through it over and over.
when she isn't grinding her new molars together.

and she's been babysitting.
she loves that baby.

she holds it upside down.
bites it hands and feet.
tries to undress it. if i undress it, she cries.
she kisses it and hugs it.
drags it. tosses it.
pats it...when i say...good baby!
tries to give it her binkie.

sometimes she even grunts when she hugs her baby.

if she doesn't hold it by an arm or a leg.
she holds onto it by it's clothes.
emi is learning to blow kisses

eddie is busy or gone all day, everyday
and is functioning on 4 hours of sleep
give or take a few hours.
it's the end of the semester,
golf season is in full swing and derby is next weekend
oh yeah and he is still working at night.
we pretty much only see him when we visit him at work.

we love you and appreciate everything you do for us!

recent projects

these were inspired by a custom headband order.
a girl in my ward requested a pink and purple headband.
and just told me to do whatever.

well as i was finishing the headbands up.
i realized i had fabric that matched.
i've always wanted to try the ruffle bum onesie
which is way harder than i expected.
maybe i just have fat fingers
but it felt more complicated than it needed to be.

and of course i had to make some matching shoes.

then i wanted to try doing a tie onesie.
turned out cute i think.

my next project is this!

hopefully it works out for our trip next week.

road trip

this past weekend emi and i went on a road trip.

we decided to drive up to my brother erik's for the weekend.
my parents were both going to be in VA for business.
i only got out my camera once :(
so some are from my phone, others are from my camera.

we were able to drive down to where my mom was and go to lunch.
we always seem to go to diners, drive-ins and dives.
you know from the food network show.

emi was loving that she could look out the window.
every morning she would look out and watch the cat across the street.

claire was drawing emi.

i was excited to see how they would interact.
just how i assumed....
emi would play with something
claire would take the toy, cause it was hers....
then emi would try to take it back

emi has been doing this for a while.
if she sees my shoes she will put them on her arm
kind of like carrying a purse.

seriously, she is not that chubby.
people always tell me how tiny she is.
she's short and getting skinny.
it's true, the camera does adds 10 pounds :)

it was funny to watch because he was locked outside.

it was fun to watch emi run around.

claire wasn't feeling very well.
so we actually left earlier than planned.

we still had a great time but didn't want to get emi sick.
they didn't play much together because
i didn't want to swap germs
wondering why there are no pictures with my dad and emi
that's because she wouldn't go near him
if he even came towards her she would start crying.
by the third day, she would let him give her a kiss
but only if i was holding her.

we are excited to come back in june/july

she finally figured it out

i've been waiting for this to happen.
for like the past week she has been pinching off pieces
and i have been finding them all over the house.

i was brushing my teeth this morning.
when all of a sudden emi walked out of the bathroom.
followed by a long toilet paper train.
i ran and got the camera.

i think her face is like...um, am i in trouble?

the end result.
no one ever told me if was so hard to re-roll toilet paper.

fun times we are having around here.
getting into and messing up all sorts of things.

piggie on the loose

i just had to add this cute picture of emi.
she was having a whining day...
which means she got the binkie.
some days i just can't stand crying or whining.

but i think i figured out why....
am i a mean mom for not fixing it
but taking pictures of the problem.

i was laughing so hard.

she seriously gets so excited for yo-gabba gabba
and no she doesn't just watch t.v. all day, every day
just when i need to get things done
and she is hanging onto me, instead of playing quietly by herself.

emi has to be inches from the t.v. for some reason.
no matter how many times i asked her to move back
or even physically move her further back
she always goes right back.

it makes me laugh though, what she does.
she holds on, stands on her toes
and leans her hips forward.

emi likes buttons and would turn the t.v. on and off all the time.
until i covered it...now she records everything
since the record button isn't covered.
at first eddie and i were questioning each other...
like, why the heck are you recording that?!?
then we realized what was going on.

i've been meaning to make these for a while.
i finally decided it was time to just sit down and do it.

i think they turned out pretty cute!
um, obviously my white paper isn't big enough. oh well.

now i'm just waiting for my shoe model to wake up from her nap.
she's awake....
yes, i know she has no ankles.
cankles are just as beautiful as ankles.
i think i will see what it looks like
putting the ribbon somewhere else next time.
maybe a little higher up...
oh, have i mentioned it's 86 degrees!!!
it has been for the past 3 days.
with humidity...ugh.
that's why she has a sweaty head from nap time.

i asked eddie yesterday if i needed to tweeze them
he said no, i needed a weed whacker!

i'm not meaning to brag, i swear
but i just need to say this...
if i had a dollar for every time
someone asked me if i have emi in modeling
or she should be in a magazine
i'd be really rich....
or at least not living a starving student budget!
