makai turned 2

can't believe our bubba turned two.

makai response to makai, kai and bubba.

he is the most craziest, active boy i know.

and gives me a run for my money daily.

i am shocked we haven't experienced stitches or a broken bone yet.

our home would be so quiet without him.

oh my gosh, hilarious.

i had to take a picture of my party helper.

just threw a cake together.

we went with a construction theme.

makai gets upset when i turn the bath water off.

so i found this thing that pumps water from the bath.

too bad it didn't work.

we had his favorite food....pizza for dinner.

watching gpa open his presents, well the twisty tie things.

he was so excited once gpa was finally able to get the thing out.

i love when he does this. it's the cutest thing.

momo and poppy came into town to visit during his birthday.

it was so nice to have both grandparents.

makai loves his new animals and has been enjoying his zoo membership.

he still isn't talking but he is making animal noises.

poor second child wore his sisters old bib. 

i just kept snapping pictures cause i didn't know how they would turn out.

this is what makai does when one people look at him 

and try to talk to him and he doesn't know them.

or when you sing happy birthday.

he is not shy at all with kids

but with adults he clams up.

sometimes he gives you the side eye, not to be confused with the stink eye.

other times he just covers his eyes.

eddie was so nice to steal emi's thunder and blow out makai's candles.

he had like no clue what to do.

i just now realized we never had the ice cream!

we decided to go to farrell's an ice cream parlor for his birthday

this is what he did when they sang to him. it was hilarious.

he enjoyed his own sundae.

weekly update

the things emi will do for 2 gumballs.

she actually gets upset if i fold the 'small' towels.

and i usually wash them in their own load so i don't have to worry

about folding them and getting in trouble.

gma took makai to my gym and mr. makai fell asleep.

he is just so cute when he is sleeping.

makai also loves to help clean.

he loves to dust, unload the plates in the dishwasher

and wipe anything with a wipe.

we attended the annual fish fry

emi needed a picture on the swinging bench.

enjoying her clean room.

i think she was waiting for eddie to get home from work

and she was excited to show him.

emi refuses to drink a green smoothie if eddie makes one.

but loves the ones the blender people make at costco.

we have explained there is spinach, her reason for not having them at home.

she explains she doesn't care.

makai also loves them.

so i always brush emi's teeth.

i was brushing and emi said it hurt.

i assumed she had like a canker sore or something.

i said, let me see...look in her mouth with a flashlight

and see a bunch of blood! eek!

she said, what?! i was like, nothing.

then i explained i think her 6 year molar was coming in

so i asked her to suck up the blood and i would take a picture.

straight up hot mess with a milk mustache one morning.

had to document emi's first school project.

i volunteer thursday mornings so i knew mrs. cody

was going to ask what she did.

most kids responded my mom cut that, my mom glued that.

we had all week to turn it in. 

so i gathered crafty crap all week for her to use.

proud to say i didn't touch it

even though i wanted to so bad.

i even second guessed her on some things.

like are you sure you want to do this or that?

wish i wouldn't have but i did. 

but i am glad she didn't budge on my suggestions.

i finally got released from cub scouts.

and was called to the YW secretary.

totally the job for me. i love being so organized.

every single time they do this.

they both yell for me.

i go in and see their bubble beard.

weekly update

eddie claims we never have cookies.

so one day emi and i made cookies while eddie was at work.

makai was happy to be our taste tester.

i took this picture on emi's night before school.

she was all ready, personal picture for mrs. cody

she cracked me up as she includes eyelashes for girls.

well she assumed mrs. cody was a boy, cody...makes sense

so she had to add eyelashes real quick before she went to bed.

i don't remember if i posted this or not.

emi loves school.

makai has been taking lots of car seat naps.

he use to take naps from 1-4

well that doesn't work so well with pick up at 2:20.

i first tried to go home and lay him down at 11:30. that didn't work.

so now he falls asleep on the way home from school at 2:30

or even sometimes while we are out and about running errands.

a rare moment of makai holding still at soccer practice.

i bring snacks to keep him 'entertained'

he usually grabs the snack and runs back to the playground.

makai was due for a haircut.

so while emi was in school one day, and eddie was off.

we headed to a barbershop, chop shop...

whatever you want to call it. 

still not short enough, but a good trim.

he hated having hair fall on him and would insist i dust it off.

we have church from 11-2, so if makai has a rough napping week.

like if he rarely naps all week. this usually happens.

eddie and i went to our first back to school night.

does that mean we are grown ups now?

we loved seeing the pictures emi has drawn so far.

it was fun to see how her classmates drew themselves as well.

she all of a sudden started drawing big arms.

and she always draws her clothes, like what she has on.

makai has started waking up early and not wanting to go back to sleep.

it is so annoying since we don't need to wake up that early.

and when you go to bed at 11 or later = tired mama

you'd think he would be so tired from inconsistent naps.

i thought this was the cutest thing.

she just wants his love. she gets jealous when he hugs me and not her.

he just wants to watch sofia and was probably half asleep 

for waking up so early in the morning.

soccer jamboree/scrimmage

emi had her first official soccer game today, as well as pictures.

after pictures we walked over to our designated field.

and we sat in the shade until it was time to warm up.

eddie was able to set up his shade tent he had to have.

he has been dying to have a reason to use it.

the assistant coach was really good at entertaining the girls.

but for some reason emi was being a bum and didn't want to participate.

but she will more than willing to dig into the grapes.

she was totally jealous of makai's new body art.

makai hates stickers on him and after a while stamps.

eddie didn't know that when he slapped that tattoo on him.

he's been trying to pinch it off all day.

makai was all about the snacks.

i think he ate all his snacks before the game even started.

then the girls started to warm up.

emi was doing these stretches before bed tonight.

her body language says it all.

she would rather be sitting in the shade eating a snack too.

makai loved to wonder onto the field.

sit in the wagon and drink from emi's water bottle.

it was so hot for 11 o'clock in the morning.

his little cheeks stayed red for most of the day.

they did some warming up

emi thinks it's super cool her number is also the date of her birth date.

then it was time for earring check, shinguard check, etc.

and that's when makai felt he was needed on the field.

he just wanted to be part of the action so bad.

he didn't even turn or acknowledge his name being called.

already feeling hot and sweaty.

ahh!! a water break.

they only have 6 minute quarters, so the game flies by!!

emi played forward for 2 quarters and defender for 1 quarter.

both positions she really had no idea what she was doing.

it was hilarious to watch them play.

as none of them really knew what they were doing.

grandpa and tanner came to the game and emi loved having their support.

she didn't know she was gonna get a drink and treat after.

made it all worth the being hot and sweaty.

overall she had a great time.

they didn't win but we didn't even talk about that.

she had fun and that is all that matters.
