park day

i finally found a park for emi.
too bad it's going to be fall then winter soon.
and the funny thing is,
it is on campus where eddie goes to school.

she loves the swings...
even if she looks like she doesn't.
she actually laughs the harder and higher i push her.
i guess she just knows to hold on.
they have separate areas for different ages.
with all sorts of educational boards to play with.
emi really enjoys steps.
which is weird because we have non in our home.
she went up and down them, over and over.
on the bigger kids side
they had this bridge, it was higher off the ground
and you could see through the bottom.
she literally took baby steps to get across.
and each time she made it across
she was so proud of herself!
i tried getting her to go down a tunnel slide.
but she wanted nothing to do with it.
hopefully the weather stays dry
so we can go to class with eddie more often.

eighteen months

really, this is all going by way too fast!
if you don't want to read all about emi and the things she is doing...
you might want to skip this post.
this is my journal.

she loves books...
mainly her fisher price flip books
she loves oswald and elmo.
most of her shows are recorded and when the recording ends
or even if i switch the channel
she always says with her hands out, what happen?
in a high pitch voice...like what the heck? i was watching that
she is allergy free!!
the tests still shows some sensitivity
but she hasn't reacted to anything.
she loves yogurt and cheese.
especially cheezits and fishies.
she loves to color
more write with a pen than anything else.
she loves to help!
even when we ask her not too, she still insists.
she's binkie free!! as of sept. 20th
my goal was to be binkie free at 6 months....
well that went by, new goal was 12 months
didn't happen then either. new goal 18 months.
so we went cold turkey. she doesn't even seem to notice.
except in the car, we caught her sucking her thumb.
eddie told me to pick my poison, ha!
she has the silliest laugh ever.
like a total gut laugh. i need to record it.
if eddie and i have a conversation and laugh
she will laugh so loud we can't hear each other.
she uses the 'more' sign ALL the time.
we think she is so smart.
she does a few puzzles. talks and talks...even if it is her language.
she has become confused. she shakes her head no
when she means yes and says ut-uh for yes
when she should say uh-huh
she says thank you, and will say it over and over until you say your welcome
and bless you or excuse you if you sneeze.
loves ketchup. and ice cream. but not together.
when she wants something you have
she says nie, nie, nie....over and over until you hand it over
she rarely, if ever has tantrums.
only when you take the sucker below away.
she insists on wearing a bow all the time!
she has a little attitude about being touched.
she grunts and makes her lips like a big kiss.
when she says open, she rocks her head back as she says it.
she MUST play with her medical kit
(thermometer, baby medicine giver)
when having her diaper changed.
or she will wiggle all over the place.
when she gets really excited she runs in circles.
if she hears anything with a beat/tune she dances.
she loves shoes! if she isn't trying to wear mine
she is trying to put hers on.
if she escapes into her room, she goes straight for the bows
or unloads the diaper holder.
she will offer hugs, but she doesn't want to be lifted
if she is lifted, she gets stiff and looks at us like....
this isn't want i wanted to have happen.
she loves her baby.
she enjoys sitting on her stool or little school bus.
she is very social.
waves at everyone and says hi...in her southern drawl.
says see ya and usually love ya, but it sound similar to see ya.
when we visit eddie at work, she is always the first to say hello to the guests.
if we see other kids...
she will say hi, over and over until they say hi
she loves to climb on things.
has the best time at gymboree and has mastered the place.
she is very obedient...knock on wood.
she listens very well...every once in a while she does her own thing
she's gone #2 on the potty, two days in a row
(but that's a different post for a different day)
she loves dogs.
she helps with laundry and shakes things out.
she is obsessed with my sewing machine.
she walks backwards and thinks it is funny.
she runs, fast! i bet our downstairs neighbors love it.
she likes to rip things...
if your saving a piece of paper, don't hand it to her
when you say her name she points to herself
she can identify eyes, nose, mouth, chin, neck, head/hair
shoulders, arms, belly, bum bum and bum, back
legs, knees, hands, feet, toes and fingers
oh yeah..and eddie calls her mufasa all the time.
not sure why but i wanted to remember that.
obviously we think she is the greatest thing ever!
her dr. appt is on thursday.
but at the allergist she was 25 pounds.

caught...

i was in the living room when all of a sudden
i hear all these crashing and banging noises.
i got my camera ready for whatever i was about to walk into
i found miss emi with her head half way in the cupboard
she is almost 18 months
and just now she is interested in going through the cupboards
but just this one...
she didn't even notice me standing there.
then i said...whatcha do'in?
and this is the caught in the act face she gave.
and then she just stood there.
still making her silly cheese, you caught me face.
poor thing has messy hair! it was in a ponytail earlier.
this was right after her nap.

she was telling me what she was doing.
which obviously i could see and hear she was unloading the cupboard.
then i asked if she was suppose to be doing that?
and she gave me the ol' cheeser again!
that smile might work on eddie but it doesn't work on me.
luckily she was happy to put everything away.

panama city beach 2010

we had such a fun time.
it was so nice to be able to eat breakfast on the balcony
while watching the waves crash onto the shore.
it felt like hawaii but was missing all the greenery.
emi had a blast playing in the sand
and swimming in the gulf.
she wasn't really into building any sand castles.
but really enjoyed collecting sea shells.
and taking them out and putting them in the sand sifter.
we literally spent all day at the beach and hotel pool
it was so nice to just relax and do nothing.
emi has become quite the adventurous swimmer.
lunging out of our arms and even trying to swim on her own.
looks like we will sign up for swim lessons before next swim season.
on saturday we ventured to tallahassee for the BYU game
emi was ready to go cheer on her cougs!
we parked in the local church parking lot
supported the local boy scouts
eddie and i decided they make a lot of money
if they charge for parking each home game.
before the game started we went and watched the FSU band perform.
and to find some shade to cool down.
this is about the only time emi and i were in the stands.
it was in the high 90's and our seats were in direct sun
we pretty much ran around the stadium
and hung out at the cooling station.
we were surprised by how many BYU fans were there.
even though BYU lost, we still had a great time!
we ate lots of crab and mcdonald's
and we even got a suntan!

enjoying the sun

{view from our hotel balcony}

we made it to florida in record time.
it was a 10 1/2 hour drive and we made it in 11.
and that was even stopping for lunch
and another stop to let emi get her wiggles out.
she was such a good traveler...i hope it's the same on the way home.

we are enjoying the beach and the sun.
hopefully i can get some pictures of emi on the beach
she is loving playing in the sand...
besides getting her hands all sandy of course.

yesterday when we arrived
emi was a little hesitant of the water
every time the water would break onto the shore
she would run to drier ground
today she was out there, even running into the water.

tomorrow is emi's first BYU game
then we plan to be beach bums the rest of the weekend.

florida or bust

we're headed to panama city beach for a little vacation
and to watch a little football, BYU football of course.
i made emi this onesie for the game.
i'm thinking of selling them in the shop.
i'd have to change the Y a little though.
for a boy i would just put, future cougar.

color book

now i just need to sew it together.
i'm loving how it is turning out.
it's a super duper easy project, just a little time consuming.
hopefully i can finish it during nap time...or bedtime.

cocoon

at eddie's work there is this little jockey man
about a week ago i noticed something hanging off of him
much to my surprise...it was a real life cocoon
i personally have never seen one in person
i thought i'd take a picture in case i never see one again
here it is swaying in the wind
the jockey man.
i looked up cocoons online and the image i have matches
some kind of moth...
someone said they aren't that pretty
they were right..it's a hairy moth
still, i think it's cool.
up close...
---
she seems to like the old macdonald farm puppets
making a meow sound...
saying neigh....
or looking at the horse, like what the heck is this thing?
i'm happy with how they turned out.
another craft to check off my craft to-do list.
i love lists...in case you didn't know that about me
