first publication!!!

a few weeks ago i was contacted by a local newspaper.
wanting to know if they could use my bows in their paper.
well sally sent me a few copies of the paper.
i'm on the top left corner...the perfect spot.

what's funny is, the picture featured is not the one i sent her
these cream puffs were her favorite, obviously :)
also....
i just added a few new things to the shop
(click on shop to view my etsy shop)
i will probably be adding a few everyday.

i will also be adding some car seats tents.
i just need to take some pictures of them.

twenty months

really 20 months! 24 months is just 4 months away!!
i feel like i say this every month.
this is going by so fast. and the older she is getting.
the faster it is going by and she seems so much older.
here are just a few pictures of emi during the last month.
besides pictures i have already posted.

she is doing so much and talk a little more.
some of the words she says is:
ouch, light, cat, dogie, daddy, moo, meow, quack, thank you, excuse you
please, drink, more, shoe, baby, mommy, up, barney, oswald, elmo,
big bird, gobble, GG, bless you, banana, hello, bye
i'm sure there are more but that is all i can think of
she says most of them clearly but some need to be translated.

she loves watching videos on our phones.
we had church interviews and she sat quietly the whole time.
we have to put passwords on our phones
because she knows how to unlock them and push on things.
she loves "talking" on phones, calculators, remotes
and recently she holds the phone with her shoulder so she can be hands free.
our days are the same everyday:
i want to record it for memory (that's what this blog is for)
she wakes up at 6:30...asks for a banana. she watches oswald.
then eats breakfast usually a eggo waffle and a yogurt with milk.
then it's free time/play time, where she will read or play with her toys
about 10 she will ask for a snack and continue playing.
11:30 she eats lunch, sometimes watches barney.
nap time is no later than 1. she just can't stay awake.
she is up by 3 and usually watches sesame street.
then we usually read together or she helps with chores
at 5:30 she eats dinner. bath time starts around 6.
then jammies go on and we read books until 7-7:30
depending on how tired she acts.
then she is usually in bed by 7:30 and asleep within a few minutes.

and i had to include this picture.
this is how she 'closes' her eyes for prayers.
usually she looks around, but she never closes that one eye.
she loves books and puzzles and usually has favorites for the day.
so some days i read the same books over and over.
emi has developed quite the attitude.
when she doesn't want to do something she will turn her face
but stare at you with her eyes...sometimes even rolling them.
she loves to be chased and tickled
if she is trying to get your attention and you ignore her
she will hide and yell boo! until you act surprised.
when she says no, she means no! or stop
seriously has the craziest hair.
totally straight on the top and curly on the sides and back.
will sit and have her hair done. if i start pulling on it, she is done.
she hates church shoes. pretty much anything but her crocs.
the shoes below were pretty much on for this picture.
and that's it. she takes her shoes off anytime she can.
turns into such a pain when we arrive somewhere
her shoes and socks are usually off...and on the other side of the car
she loves to go outside, especially if it's windy
we think she is a lefty for sure.
she hides under her highchair when she needs some space
refuses to go near the potty. we had a good track record for a while.
feels the need to bring everything with her when exiting her crib.
blanket, bug, baby, 5 other stuffed animals.
it's hilarious to watch her try to carry them all.
i usually distract her and leave the 5 stuffed animals in the crib.
she loves zippers.
if you make then go up and down she laughs so hard.
she loves music and has started moving only her shoulders.
when she sees a picture of a horse she will move like she is riding one
yet she has never been on one, besides a carousel.
she will meow really loud in public...and when people look at us crazy
i'm like, oh are you a cat emi?
because to be honest it sounds more like a dying cat rather than a happy cat.
i love watching her concentrate.
or inspect something. she soaks things up like a sponge.
she loves to line things up and count them.
even though she just says one over and over...and sometimes six
she loves the elephant song: one elephant went out to play...
she loves to snuggle with her blanket and lay her head on our shoulder.
she loves to be tickled and have raspberries blown
but will always say no...and stick her neck up to be tickled.
the minute i clean up...she makes a mess.
for example: her bus, airplane, tractor and truck are along the wall.
she will push them out just to be messy.
when putting her books "away" she walks over to the book shelf
and toss them like a frisbee. if we ask her again to put them away.
she will push them with her feet and give us the evil eye.
she refuses to go to nursery. and loves to come to our primary class.
this is a good example of her having short legs and a long torso.
the picture above. the shirt is 2T and the skirt is 18 months.
the skirt is suppose to be just above her knee.

we sure do love her and enjoy watching her grow and learn.
i'm sure i am leaving some things out. if i remember anything i will add it later.

thanksgiving 2010

this year we headed to cracker barrel for thanksgiving dinner
we decided it would be cheaper and easier than if we cooked.
we ate for less than $20 and we didn't have to prepare or clean up.
it was so nice and easy.
we did miss funeral potatoes and marshmallows on top of the yams.
and the stuffing was a little weird, more like cornbread bread crumbs.
but overall it was so worth it.
emi loves those checker boards.
and is attached to her little dog.
the last few nights she sleeps with it touching her face.

and of course we missed being with family.
but it was nice to do our own thing.

first ear infection

weird to think she will be 20 months this week
and she is just having her first ear infection.
i am so thankful for her health.

but man! what a wild night.
i've been reading those books.
pretty much going to bed way past midnight every night.
last night i decided to turn the light off at 12:30
only to be woken up at 12:45ish by emi, crying.
she has been getting her 2 year old molars so i thought
great...a fun night of teething.
well i give emi some pain medicine and let her get in bed with us
from 12:45 to about 3:30 she fell asleep and woke up
about every 15 to 20 minutes!
to top that off, she had a blow out diaper about 2:45ish
(why she has mismatched jammies on)
just what i wanted to do in the middle of the night.
i finally got her to lay down in her crib around 3:30
so i finally laid down, except i didn't really go to sleep
because i was waiting for her to wake up
i think i finally fell asleep sometime after 4.

so this morning she woke up at 6:30
i thought for sure she would sleep in a little since
she was up half the night.
every morning emi immediately asks for a banana
or requests something to eat
(to explain why there is a banana in the picture below)
which was taken about 9:30.
luckily eddie was off today
so about 7:30 i decided he was on daddy duty
and went back to bed.
i could only sleep two hours for some reason
this is how i found her on the couch.
(i guess my phone has a flash, found that out this morning)
once i saw the banana wasn't eaten and it was 9:30
i knew it wasn't her teeth.
sure enough she was burning up. her temp was 101.6.
having never been to the dr. before, except for well visits
i wasn't sure what symptoms to look for, for an ear infection
so i looked online...
ear infections and teething pretty much have the same symptoms
except for the whole fever thing.
i decided i should probably take her in.
i'm glad i brought her blanket and baby along.
because the second i started undressing her she cried
the whole time...except when she had her baby and blanket
now we have a prescription for pink medicine.
and she is already acting like she is feeling better.

a few months ago i saw a billboard for something sesame street
i saw it right as i was passing it but knew i wanted to take emi.
well i looked it up online and it was learning about the body
a little more info than emi is ready for
we decided to go anyways since she loves sesame street

they have this huge satellite dish thing covered in mirrors
right outside before you walk into the science museum. it's pretty neat.
this picture melts my heart.
and this is her serious smile, if you ask her to smile.
she was checking to see if he was smiling.
there were all sorts of stations. learning about your body parts.
how your insides work, etc...
the only thing she was afraid of were the intestines.
which literally made a grumble then a fart sound
and poop traveled down this tube.
it was disgusting, yet comical they would create something like that.
pretty much teaches kids how their insides work.
her favorite part was grover's obstacle course.
she literally says weeee... when on a swing or going down a slide.
then she enjoyed some grocery shopping.
then we ventured over to the museums kid zone
she had fun building blocks with daddy.
exploring the inside of an airplane and city bus
her favorite though had to be pushing all the babies around.
then we ended the day with the water section.
i love how eddie put a hood on her, as if she was going to get that wet.
overall she had a great time and so did we!

okay, back to the books...
i'm half way through the second one.

catching up

i have been super busy...doing nothing.
except for healing. when i got back from utah.
i had a week to get everything ready for my craft show.
all while battling an awful head cold.
well, around thursday before the show my throat
got really thick and hard to swallow. i knew i had tonsillitis.
i've had it many times before. i just knew.
well wouldn't it be my luck.
that we just switched health insurances
to something super cheap until we get insurance through a job.
(pretty much doesn't cover anything but something major)
luckily i was able to get an antibiotic prescription
and i'm feeling much better.
but i am sure no one really cares about me being a sickie.

onto the craft show:
it so wasn't worth my time and energy
but i'm glad i was able to experience it.
i made well above my goal but not nearly what i was hoping for
the people across from me, only sold ONE thing all day!
so i consider myself lucky my booth was "busy"
here is the one and only picture i took of the craft show.
this was right before it started.
the girl i shared a booth with was actually still setting up
that is why it is only half the booth in the picture.
(horrible picture from my cell phone)
onto my "real" life:
emi has been up to her normal things.
getting into everything
and saying no or ouch...whenever possible it seems.
medusa hair!
sometimes i wonder why i even do her hair in the morning.
i should just wait until after her nap.
(don't mind the messy boxes...it's almost moving time)
and this is from today.
you wouldn't believe it.
a chick-fil-a opened up just down the street.
i just started the hunger games series...
and they are due back next wednesday.
check back next thursday....kidding...well sort of.

the goods

these are just the bows i have done in the last week.
my goal was to make 100, including the ones from my shop.
since i meet that goal.
i am moving onto clippies, onesies and car seat tents.
there are about 75 in the basket to the left.
the basket to the right i am still working on those clippies.
all while these library books stare at me.
i was the 96th person on the waiting list for hunger games.
who would have thought the other two would become available the same week.
good thing after saturday i have nothing but time on my hands.
that is if my hot glue gun burned fingers can turn a page.

utah visit in a nutshell

things have been a little crazy around here.
i signed up to do a craft show.
a week later momo and poppy came to visit.
three days later i left for a week long visit to gma's.
now i am back and have less than a week left to get ready.
needless to say, the blog has taken a back seat.
i am up to my neck in felt, hot glue, clips, headbands and fabric.

while in utah:
(sorry of those we missed seeing this time around)
emi had her first official sucker.
not including a lick or two from the photo shoot pictures.so excited to be eating a sucker.
but obviously a rookie... what a sticky mess!
sharing with gma.
which i was shocked because she has only child syndrome.
(everything is hers and she doesn't share)enjoying some sugar.
what a mess!
she got to the gum...
love this picture of them.for gma's 87th birthday she wanted to go to mcgrath's.
gma and her sister have a birthday within the same week.
so they sang to shirley too. i bet their parents would have loved to see this.
we had a little reunion/b-day party for gma
and the reunion was her dad's side of the family.
pictured with gma are her cousins, i think the last living.
emi bored to death at the reunion.
that outfit was gma's favorite outfit of emi's last winter.
i squeezed her into it, just for gma.
the pants fit great but the shirt was a little short.
this happens a lot.
whenever we are out and about and my purse is in her reach.
she will bring it to me. i guess to tell me she wants to leave.
emi loves pianos. there is one at eddie's work
and she always makes her way to it when we go visit him.
this is my mom's second cousin, helping her play.
she literally mimicked every note he played.
whatever he touched, she touched it right after him.
then in the middle of the week we met up with the gang.
we enjoyed an afternoon at the discovery museum downtown.
amazing how much these kiddos have grown in the last year.
emi and i spent the night with the quigley's.
and we had a wonderful time catching up and playing together.
four generation picture.
we try to have this done each time we visit.
that's all the time i have for now.
we had a great time, except we both brought colds home.
seems like we always get sick when we go to visit.
but it's worth it i guess :)
