weekly update

our good friend alex invited us over for a play date after naps.
which resulted in super long late naps for both our nappers.
so we really went over there for just a little bit
before the sun went down and it was time for dinner.
emi had so much fun riding bikes with gus.

makai loved playing with all their fun toys.
the battery was dead on mater but he didn't know or care.

and then he kept escaping off to the garden area.
he was in heaven running around their land.

then alex got out the water colors to paint some rocks.
which turned into painting on paper/hand prints.
which makai then painted himself and anyone within reach.
luckily it was washable paint.
makai snuck behind emi to paint her rock with her not knowing.

when emi was makai's age she loved to stand on the stool and color
makai loves to color. so i thought i try it out.
he loves it, but him picking up the stool and throwing it
resulted in me putting it away, behind closed doors.
i don't think emi ever tried to lift it up.

this is what happens when i leave the room or turn my back.
so if you come over and the table and chairs are pushed to the wall
you'll know why. the little stinker.
he doesn't listen....just hustles faster until we catch him.

one evening before bed i couldn't find emi and eddie.
lo and behold...they were making shadows with his bike/running light.

just watching the rain....and spilling every other handful of popcorn.
not sure why i thought that was a good idea.
we tried the turn the chairs around
before we ended up pushing the table up against the window.

battle of the vacuums!
after the popcorn mess we had to clean up the mess.

had to take a picture of this little stinker.
while he holds still for 2 seconds.
i think i took this picture too cause
he fell asleep in the time it took me to unload the groceries from the trunk.
i knew it was nap time. i changed his diaper and put him straight to bed.
he was out within minutes.

emi had a gift card to use by the end of february for leatherby's.
not sure why they were squeezing noses...as long as it isn't mine.
the next day when my mom asked if she got bubble gum
she said: of course not! silly girl! that's all she ever gets.

makai head butted emi and she needed an ice pack.
she literally kept it on the entire movie.
eddie was asleep 2.5 seconds after this picture.

we got frozen on apple tv.
we decided to keep the kids up to watch it.
and we have watched it everyday since.

birthday party {grant's}

our good friends had a cowboy themed birthday party
with pony rides and games. the kids had so much fun.

makai loves animals! like so much.
as the ranchers walked the ponies towards the party
makai met them and walked right up to the horse.
he would have hugged it, if i hadn't pulled him away.
he seriously had no fear.

he kept letting go so the girl kept having to stop.
the mom of the girl kept commenting on how he brave he was.

if you can catch his huge smile at the beginning of this video.
we might need to have a little farm animal party for his birthday.

he was not excited to be done with his ride.
he didn't cry but he for sure was like, what the heck?!

and then when the other kids rode he cried and chased after them.

then it was emi and gus's turn.

gus loves emi and would only ride with her. it was funny.

gus wanted to hold emi's hand.
and emi basically gave him the hand
...speak to the hand cause the face ain't listening.

and then she gave in for 2 seconds.
we are hoping for an arranged marriage.
gus likes the bossy type.

emi loved it.
she thought it was hilarious when her house 'itched it's nose'?
it made the horse sound, where is shakes his head/nose...
hopefully i don't sound like a crazy person and you know exactly what i am saying.
she thought he farted she said: and then he did it again.

then makai rode around again.

and again. luckily the other kids were busy running around.
gpa...looks like you need to get a pony.

omg...makai was a terror.
so when people tell me, wow, he is busy.
that basically means...he is into everything and you have no control.
which is true. this is all new to me. i can not turn my back for 2 seconds.

he was climbing on anything and everything
eating people's food while they got up for 2 seconds.
and had a tantrum when i had to carry him away from chasing the ponies.

to top it all off. he stood by the drink cooler and ate all you can eat ice.
i didnt care at that point. he loves ice and he was staying in one place.

showing all the other kids how cool it is to eat ice.
and then he was asleep within minutes of being in the car
and slept for 4 hours!!
we all had a great time and look forward to the next party!
the birthday boy was gus's little brother. who was the cutest little cowboy.

weekly update

i love when emi says she isn't tired and passes out
i told her she was catching flies. and she looked at me like i was crazy.

so one of the projects i have been wanting to do
was spray paint the gold brass door knobs.
one of the door knobs isn't the same style as the others.
and then one door knob was silver...weird.
never knew we had so many knobs in our small house.

i spent less than $5 on spray paint...oil rubbed bronze
and then used a coupon to buy this big styrofoam thing.
so it literally cost less than $10...i couldn't even buy one new door knob for that.

for some reason i didn't think of the bottoms of the knob.
i was all excited to put them back on, i didn't even think to check.
so out they went again for another day.

this was like the only picture i took that shows the difference.
we finally painted the front areas a gray.
oh my goodness. i hate gray.
everyone claims they have found the perfect gray.
we wanted a true gray with no undertones for our living areas.
we found the perfect one, so we thought.
we had put samples on the wall and all that time it was a true gray.
until we put it under false lighting...it is a baby blue.
emi woke up and said, hey! i like it....it's blue daddy's favorite color.
not the first thing i wanted to hear since i stayed up until 2:30am painting.
then the darker....beige/gray we choose...looks exactly like the true gray
except for when it is dark it looks like a dark gray.
but seriously, the walls that touch. you can not tell a difference.
i don't care anymore.

we needed to make room for chicken nuggets and eggo waffles.
kidding, but i finally dumped my liquid gold.
after makai refused to ever take a bottle, i quit pumping.
this milk was from the way beginning and well over a year old.

we gave emi a jamba juice gift card for valentine's day
so she wanted to redeem it.
wearing her night dress. ha! really a size 8 hand me down dress.
she wanted to practice for school pictures, which were the next day.

so happy to have her own smoothie.
makai was envious and stared at her the entire drive home.
i wish i could remember exactly what she said to him
but it was nice, and encouraging.
like when you get older you will get your own jamba juice card.

not wanting his picture taken.
i was trying to record him shoving the whole dang thing in.
he quit and hid his face.

 dun...dun...dun....
i should have known he wasn't feeling well.
i put makai to bed at like 6 on thursday night.
i felt bad too because he wouldn't eat anything for dinner.
i was a short order cook that night, nothing!

and then he woke up every 20 or so minutes.
finally after thinking something must be up, i took his temp
it was 100 even....bummer, a fever.
the next time he woke up i drugged him up.
and he slept for the rest of the night.

but once he was 'up' he went right back to sleep.
something he never does!!
he even slept through eddie taking a shower...which has never happened.

i had to wake him up to take emi to school.
he just laid his head on my shoulder the entire time.
which i knew he must not have felt good, cause he loves to play with the other kids.
as i went to put him in the car he was like totally limp.
he had fallen back to sleep! and he stayed asleep until we got home.
i laid him back on our bed to give him some medicine.
and before i could give him any, he went back to sleep.

his poor little cheeks were all red.
he slept the whole time emi was at school.
waking up a couple times, but always going back to sleep.

i went about my morning while he slept the morning away.
i was in the kitchen when he woke up and walked out to the living room.
i was able to get him to eat an apple sauce packet, then he was back to sleep.
same thing happened again when i picked emi up from school.

the nice thing...he snuggled all day.
the bad thing...diarrhea!! at least he wears a diaper.
what made it worse...eddie was out of town.
so i changed about what felt like 20 nasty/smelly/diarrhea diapers.

makai loves ketchup....
and emi loves strawberries. she said: i need 5 cause i'm almost 5.
then said: um...no i need 6, cause next year i'll be six.
and obviously we need a bbq cover....can you say ghetto!! ha!

i was able to download the frozen read along book on our computer.
emi has watched it like 10 times.

emi always sleeps on the edge of her bed.
it bugs me so bad. i want to build her a bed, or bunk bed.
i saw this long line of a bruise on the outside of her bum cheek.
i asked her what happened?!
she explained she fell out of her bed the other night and landed on the railing.

this is makai's fake/forced laugh.
emi watched the 101 dalmatians...not animated one.
and so there were real puppies running around. makai loved it.

i had to run into winco one day for a specific item in the bulk section.
they always have the weirdest things.
emi found these huge bunny ears.
every person smiled and laughed at her as she wore them around the store.

makai let me take one picture of him.
then he handed them back to her.
it was quite funny.

all ready for school. she was more than willing to have her picture taken.

later after school we went and played at the park.
makai hated the swing and emi climbed everything.

emi made this at school. she must not have listened to the 'lesson'.
or maybe it was above her head. but she had no clue what it was for.
she just said it was for an old man face. ha!
