fog willow

this year with soccer on saturdays
we never made it to fog willow.
so after school on halloween we headed to the farm.

luckily emi went first so he knew what to do.

first thing he tried was to lift these huge pumpkins.
then he sat on them and i took the advantage to take a picture.

then it was emi's turn.

they climbed the hay mountain.
and spotted the cow trailer ride.
so we quickly ran towards it to get in line.

while in line i asked emi to put her let up.
uh...on the fence silly.
once she realized what i meant she laughed and laughed at herself.

there we go!
by then emi was melting since it was close to 80 degrees.

this was the best picture i got of makai against the fence.
i guess i wasn't quick enough while he was looking at me.
emi thinks this picture is hilarious.

then we were off on the bumpy trailer ride.

i literally laughed almost the entire ride.
it was so dusty and those teenage kids rode like that a majority of the time.
makai could careless and emi didn't like it in her mouth.

then it was time to hit up the playground.

makai isn't a fan of swings but wanted on the horse.
i had to take a picture before i let him down.

emi has come a long way.
she would have never fed a goat in previous years.
makai was in heaven and ran around to each goat.

they had the cutest picture props.
wish i could have gotten one with the truck.
but some kids were playing on it.
maybe we'll have to go back in regular clothes and try again.
besides the heat we had a great time.

pumpkin carving

the night before halloween
i asked emi if she was interested in carving a pumpkin.
when i helped during the week at school
we talked about pumpkin and if there was anything inside.
how they grow and if you can eat them.
emi guessed they were empty. so that was my reasoning for carving.
she was totally into it.

this was her first time putting her hand in.
i was a little surprised she wasn't grossed out.

and then she realized it was a little gross feeling.
she couldn't believe someone would want to eat the seeds.

i wasn't cleaning out the pumpkin fast enough so eddie
the one that said he would not be helping, less than 20 minutes earlier.
stepped in and helped clean out the pumpkin guts.

then it was time to draw on a design.
she insisted on heart eyes.
she has even already started drawing a heart for her i, in her name.

emi was super pleased with how the pumpkin turned out.
eddie wasn't an expert at carving hearts.
it was funny when he showed her the first one and she was like,
that looks nothing like a heart! that's when i took over again.

love this picture of her.
i am glad we carved a pumpkin.
it was some fun one on one time with her. i think she really enjoyed it.

not sure what was so funny but something was.

weekly update

every day that we take emi to school
makai expects to see the donkey and horse that live across the street.
this specific morning they wouldn't come say hi like usual.
makai wasn't too happy about it.
even went as so far as to stomp his foot is disgust they wouldn't come over.

friday evening emi's school had a school carnival.
i'm shocked they were willing to stop to take a picture.
makai squealed the entire time as we passed the school and parked.
we ran into paisley when we first got there.
then we saw mrs. cody and another girl from their class.

presley and makai, he adores her.
until she holds his hand and won't let go.
they see each other almost daily.
he is probably looking at her like she is crazy cause she was being a little sassy
and was only willing to let me take a picture for more candy.
she was working the system.
saturday morning my parents had a garage sale.
they realized shortly after we stopped by that they couldn't sell that thing.
just needs a new battery...and some helmets.

later that night we headed to disney on ice.
we decided from now on or for a little while
that eddie will just take emi and friends.
makai is too much work and acts like a wild beast.
he didn't sit still, maybe he just wasn't engaged in the show.
but it was exhausting!
we are glad emi and paisley had fun though.

the one time he sat still.

after the showe we headed to ikea for lunch and to look at furniture.
emi and paisley loved seeing a rainbow.
so they had to take a picture with it.

baby barfield #3

pretty certain everyone that reads this blog
also follows me on some sort of social media.

BUT in case you don't!
baby BOY barfield will be joining our family in early february.

we are super excited!!
emi is ok with having another brother.
we knew early on so we were able to kind of warn her that it's probably not a sister.
and makai has no idea. not a single clue.
anytime we mention the word baby he looks around for a real life baby.

emi's halloween carnival

emi has been looking forward to this day for forever.
we arrived just a few minutes after it started.
elsa and frankenstein were so excited!!
i couldn't unbuckle them fast enough from the car.

when we first arrived we ran into mrs. cody, emi's teacher.
when mrs. cody came out and got the kids before school
they laughed and laughed at her outfit.

first activity was the slide.
emi was so embarrassed her dress flipped up.

makai was his usual self, acting like he is 10.
seriously shocked we haven't had broken bones yet.

the girls played games, watched a donut eating contest
and played on the big kid playground.

makai stayed busy eating at least 10 suckers.
crawling all over the ground and drinking from the drinking fountain.

makai refused to look at me.
he was too busy eating candy galore.
i am surprised he will keep the hat portion on of his costume.
as he won't wear a beanie, hat or a hood to a sweatshirt.

weekly update

i love this picture of makai.
he loves to see the donkey and horse daily.
they aren't sure about him as he tries to climb the fence.
but just stand there staring at us.

we were invited to a fun hallowen party.
i was shocked makai kept his costume on.
he loves their haunted house.
he has a thing for skeletons.
and i think it helped his favorite episode of sofia is the ghostly gala.
which consists of lots of skeletons and ghosts.

emi loved it! she played all the games.
and then after about an hour, decided she was ready to eat.
she found out she loves candy corn and those pumpkins.

makai enjoyed eating candy and watching all the kids.

eddie worked out of town for a few days.
he emailed this picture to me.
instead of going to cracker barrel before his meeting, he went to the open house.

some days it works out best for gma to pick emi up from school.
gma sent me this picture of their afternoon on the deck.
eating their favorite snack and putting their feet in the pool.
she was swimming the previous weekend but i guess the water is too cold.

then we had out ward party.
the young women were in charge of games.
so i had to hang around the games all night.
poor eddie was on makai duty and chased him all over.

usually we aren't dress up halloween people.
but i thought this would be the perfect opportunity to announce
since basically no one knew we were expecting.
can you see makai hiding behind us?
this is how he acts around adults he isn't sure of.

makai has a sucker in his hand the entire time.
he loved trunk or treat. he didn't get it.
but he got endless supply of suckers.

weekly update

the next few pictures probably deserve a post of their own.
and even though i'd like to do an individual post.
i just don't have time for some reason.

makai had his 2 year well check a couple weeks late.
they called and confirmed his appt and mentioned his dr was out of the office.
so then we had to wait another couple of weeks to see his dr.
with his speech issues i felt it was important to stick to his regular dr.
makai was his only toddler patient for the day.
everyone else was a tween.
best purchase i've made is those tiny dinosaurs i keep in my purse.

between looking at the first tank and looking out the window
you'd think he would be kept busy.

wrong! he was all over the place and getting into things.
he lined the chairs up while talked with the front desk.
i guess it wasn't so bad. it wasn't like he climbed on the table.

once back i wasn't sure how he was going to act.
he does have a little stranger danger/i don't like adults attitude.
he was actually very friendly and followed all directions.
overall he had a great appt, weighs 28 pounds and is 32 inches long.
average weight and a little short, same as all his other appts.
the dr. has officially ordered an appt with the audiologist
since he has had speech for close to 6 months.
he has made some improvement in sounds but no actual words.

once striped down to his diaper he felt right at home.
running down the hallway naked (more than once), making everyone laugh.
he sometimes is just too quick for me.
then he insisted on going to the bathroom, on the potty.
he even shook his butt at the nurse and laughed.

makai has shown some interest in the potty.
i swear he does it just for the treats
not because he actually cares.
so sometimes i put him in underwear.
i actually took him to the zoo where and brought his potty.
he peed approx. 10 times, yet still managed to pee his pants...twice.
he just doesn't care when he pees his pants.
but will go on the potty no problem for some jelly beans.

he is getting taller for his zoo pictures.
or maybe learned how to stand on his tippy toes.

this was on my phone from emi's field trip.
i think i posted a 000picture similar to this but from my camera.

emi got cleated at practice one day.
she was upset about it but she wasn't bleeding.
when we got to the car for a band-aid she said in all seriousness.
do you think i'll need a cast?
i just laughed and laughed.

toys r us finally updated their riding machine thingy.
makai was in heaven as he loves fire trucks.
now i need to remember to have 50 cents next time i go back.
