done...and done!

after sewing all 22 pages together.
i realized it was going to be way too thick.
almost like a college text book or something.
so i decided to split the book into:
a younger and older book.

all i have left is, to put the eyelets holes in the pages
and then put the pages in the book.
here it is:

the cover
which is completely boring.
but hopefully will hold up through the years.
"the younger book"
caterpillar...and the sun moves.
learning to button a button.playing phone.
probably should have made it a cell phone
instead of an old fashion phone.
obviously....counting.
obviously...weave the tower.
next time i will make it more like a blanket.
matching the number and color.
gumball machine.

"the older book"
matching shapes and colors.obviously...tying a bow.
decorating a christmas tree.
the ornaments are in the box.
tying a shoe
apples on the tree.
the apples are in the blue bucket.
learning to button a button.
learning how to braid.
with a little indian baby tucked inside her coat.
tic tac toe
obviously... building a hamburger.
adding and subtracting.
more numbers in the zipper pouch.
phew, what a project!

reason #582 i love having a girl!

emi has had this skirt in her closet since who knows when.
i decided sunday morning to whip something up real quick.
applique onesie. check.
headband. check.
normal behavior from emi.
acting naughty with a smile on her face.
even though she is naughty.
she is so dang cute!
so serious...
and hating the camera, like usual.
"are we done yet?"

ten months

she loves reading time with daddy
(eddie made a new years goal to read to her each night)
she has graduated her bath seat and loves to splash in the tub.
she has the funniest, forced laugh.
she loves to laugh at herself and laugh along with us.
emi chews on anything and everything.
she has seven teeth.
she bites until her face jiggles.
we are trying to limit her binkie to just nap time and bed.
still hates the camera in her face and refuses to smile.
emi is cruising along the couch.
when cruising, she does side kicks to move.
her hair is getting so thick and wavy.
(except for the front)
she is no longer allowed to suck on the water bottle.
we don't want her sucking on other water bottles...
like cleaning supplies
she wears hairspray to keep her hair under control.
emi still hates shoes
bends her foot so we can't get any shoe on.
pulls off all socks.
picks things up with her fingers.
smashes food with her thumb.
smiles real big but always looks down.
loves to dance and sing along.
even if we sing she will dance.
when we play music she will constantly look at the stereo
to see who is singing.
if her bow gets messed up she doesn't fix it.
it could be covering her eyes and she will just sit there until i fit it.
when she is stinky she comes to me.
and we say pee-u, stinky, stinky
and she waves her hand like something is stinky!
i always let her "air out" before bath time.
she reads her books standing like.
loves all books and anything with animals.
she loves animal sounds and gets super excited when she hears one.
"talks" on her phone.
knows not to chew on her books
but will put one to her mouth and wait for me to look.
i don't even have to say anything and she takes it away from her mouth.
so i guess she is a good listener.
still sleeping 11 hours at night.
two naps in the day, ranging from 45 minutes to 2.5 hours.
wakes up the instant she hears the sewing machine.
loves exploring her new big girl car seat.
rubs her hands together when they are slippery from her food.
grosses me out!
she eats anything we feed her.
breakfast is either rolled oats with apple sauce or
craisins, bananas and apricots
lunch and dinner are always changing
but she of course loves her chicken mixture
cubed chicken, any kind of bean, peas, carrots
broccoli, peaches, corn/carrot and sweet potato mixture.
she really will eat anything.
except spinach...but who eats spinach?
when she is sleepy she holds her ear.
when she nurses she holds her ear.
when she is relaxing she holds her ear.
her skin is super sensitive.
she is currently rock'in a cool drool rash.
has wings!
her hair is getting more and more wavy...
which means it is harder and harder to control.
wears 12 month clothes.
but the pants are all way too long.
she likes to push buttons.
and try to reach cords.
(she can not reach those cords in the picture)
she yells at me when i tell her no.
example: she likes to push the stereo buttons
i tell her to get down, she responds by a yelling...
then after about 3 times she babbles and she sits down.
probably telling me off or something.
but she always listens.
but definitely tests us to see what she can get away with.
holds things in her mouth for no reason
vitamin bottle, finger puppets, water bottles, tooth brush
she usually crawls around with them in her mouth too.
loves to take things out but never put them back in.
i put all her baby toys in this bucket
she takes things out one by one
either plays with it, or tosses it to the side
if she sees something deep in the bucket
she usually just dumps the bucket over.
loves books.
turns the pages by herself.
gets bored easily with some books.
screams really loud when daddy comes home.
pushes things around.
last week she was walking along some boxes
this week we got her a ligit walker/pusher thing.
loves water...
enjoys watching baby einstein
loves video chatting
every time we use the laptop she gets so excited
thinking she will see poppy and momo.

we love you emi.

ongoing project

since emi was born
i do her footprints on a canvas.
i've done when she was first born...
three, six and nine months.
i can't believe the next ones will be 12 months.
eventually i'd like to do it with each of my children.
and have them hang on a a wall.
i usually rinse her feet off in the kitchen sink.
today she decided to dive right in.
so her clothes were all wet.
i thought it would be fun for her to play in the water.
at first she was just touching the water.
then she figured she could get a drink.
this is the usual smile i get these days.
kind of a flirty, am i being naughty ? smile...
she was having so much fun.
ahhhhhh.....
she sure cracks me up.

buddies

it's been raining here for days.
and it's been freezing for weeks.
i have noticed recently with nowhere to go
and no one to hang out with.
i sometimes only leave the house to go grocery shopping and go to church.
so i decided to hit the mall, target, hobby lobby and old navy all in one day.
(they are all in the same parking lot)

we were walking around target
walking down the baby/toddler toy isle
and emi starts yelling...cause she is excited.
i handed her the seahorse...what she was yelling at.
she immediately hugged it.
and snuggled it the whole time we walked around target.
it was so cute i took a picture.
after leaving target my mom texts me to go back and buy it.
cause it was just so cute.
so emi and i went back and got it.
she reached for the blue one over the pink one.
when i gave her an option.
which is fine by me....
when we got home this little bratty napper
fell right to sleep with her new buddy.
last night about 3 hours after she went to bed we heard the music playing.
i went in to check on her and she was sleeping on it.
the weight of her body turned the music on.
she has been the worst napper ever the last few months.
but really i shouldn't complain cause she sleeps 11+ hours at night.
but she went from napping great in her crib.
to standing in her crib and
crying for 45 minutes instead of sleeping
only to fall asleep on me when i picked her up.
then we moved on to me laying down with her
which wasn't that bad because i got a nap
too, now she is napping in her swing
only cause it straps her in
and she can't bite anything and damage it
that's why i don't leave her in her crib during nap time.
i don't want her to bite the railing...
like she did the entertainment center.
who knew a teething puppy lived in a 9 month old baby.

quite book update

velcro might be the death of me!
16 out of 22 pages done!
and my sister made a good point...
why are they called quite books when velcro is so noisy?
i know they keep your kid 'quite' but i'm gonna call it a busy book.
hopefully keeping your kid busy and quite.

sunday pictures

for some reason...
every sunday i make emi sit on the couch so i can take her picture.
i'm not sure why but i just do.
and every sunday it is getting more and more difficult.
the last few weeks she has been arching her back
so she scoots way low...
and her hair gets messed up!
or she tries to crawl away.

oh and then there is the yelling.
or should i say high pitch screaming.
i usually recruit eddie for some entertainment.
but he is always standing, so she looks way above me.
finally a picture with her looking at me and smiling.
