DC

eddie's brother russell is in DC for the summer
doing an internship at the EPA.
eddie's family went to visit him last week.
so we decided to take a road trip...i keep a bag full of toys
she does a number of things with them
either a.she will play with them
and then toss them over the side
b.upon handing them to her,
she immediately throws them over the side
or c. shove them to one side of her leg
then switches and shoves them all to the other side
since our arrival was a surprise to eddie's mom and sister
we explored georgetown while we waited for them to arrive.
this is the cupcake place from the t.v. show DC cupcakes
we decided to rather wait in line that morning
we would come back with everyone later.
well we went back later and the line was down the block
and around the corner.
needless to say, we didn't get a cupcake.
we rode the metro everywhere...which was fun
this was our first stop.
this was the view when you got off the metro
we kept emi busy by feeding her lots of snacks
she wasn't too excited about being
trapped into her stroller.
it was nice and hot...and humid.
waiting in line for a tour.
waiting in line...in the A/C....
i thought this picture was funny.
emi was taking her shoes off.
i guess she is her mother's child.
she likes wearing shoes as much as i do.
emi took all naps in her stroller.
waiting for the shuttle from the hotel to the metro.
emi knows how to work our phones.
she loves her zoo animal app.
we had a tour of the capital
it was a little hike to get there.
we went through this underground tunnel
to get from i think the senators building to the capital.
this is george washington.
i guess this was an exact mold of his face.
and he was a big guy, like 7 feet tall.
eddie actually took all these pictures.
i was chasing emi around.
she learned to scream, really loud.
so eventually we would get her down
because we were on quite tours.

i thought this picture was funny.
because sometimes eddie jokes/thinks
of himself as pacific islander.
of course he would find the king of all hawaii.
this was in the middle of some room.
and sweeping your foot over is suppose to be good luck.
there is a divot where everyone has swept their foot.
i thought this was interesting.
they bought this light from a church or something
i think....i was chasing emi around.
but what i did hear, is that two men clean it twice a year.
this was the ceiling in another huge room.
it tells a story of some sort.
i'm sure you could look it up.
we also went to the space museum...
where i was able to get some astronaut ice cream...yum!
emi getting attention from some random lady.
looking at some exhibit.
this was from another museum.
i don't remember which one
but i thought it was cool.
that was a motorcycle way back when.
then after 4 days...we were headed back home.

sixteen months

i don't have many pictures
{since i posted most of them already}
but lots of new things about emi
this is where i put all my information
i want to remember so i don't forget.
most people that check our blog, check it for emi anyways.

these are all words i understand
probably from being with her all the time
but other people understand her too....
everyday they are sounding more like the real thing.

her words: word (sounds like)

again (ah yin)
gma (ga ma)
gpa (ga pa)
thank you (da due)
i did it! (di ju)
your welcome (wa-something)
baby (bah be)
dog (doug ee)
daddy (da da and da dee, when real excited)
mommy (ah ma, which sounds like amber)
bubbles (bubbas)
more (mee ma)
mine/hers (mimi, like if i take something away from her)
dunno know? (uh un, as she puts her palms facing up)
where did he/she/it go? (wah da?, also with her palms up, looking around)
hi (hiiiii!, sounds all southern)
all done (dun dun)
yeah/yes (ya or huh, while she nods her head)
bye (bu ba)
see ya! (e uh)

and then she does lots and lots of rambling
her animal noises are still not really animal noises
for a cat she always screeches with a little roar mixed in
she still makes the elephant sound
she says mmmmm, for a cow
for any other animal it is ut-ut-ut-ut....
(kind of in a whisper)
that could be a dog, pig, or monkey
{i know i'm in trouble and running away from you but i'm having too much fun face}

she loves singing songs
her favorites are:
5 little monkeys jumping on the bed
twinkle twinkle little star
her ABC's
counting to 10

dances to any beat
swings her hips like a hula girl

has the craziest hair!
15 teeth...just missing one canine tooth

holds up her pointer finger
when you ask her how old she is
and then nods yes, if you ask if she is one.

when out to eat (usually when this happens)
she will kiss our hands.
weird but cute.

sometimes she hits...
but it is almost always followed by a hug

grunts really loud when giving a hug

starting to whine to get things she wants

starting to throw tantrums. not usually in public, if ever. she only throws them when she wants to hold something and your taking it away. she usually cries and arches her back until she melts to the ground. she also does it when you are holding her back from going somewhere.
still brings us things she isn't suppose to have but every once in a while if we ask her to bring us whatever she might have. she will just stand there like, i'm not moving! then if we start to go in her direction she runs away laughing.

reads books backwards
i think because she's dominant with her left hand

uses a spoon and is getting the hang of the fork.

she will let us see her teeth if we lift her lips and say roar.
so she looks like something scary with teeth.
loves to run.
usually twisting her upper body as she runs.

if anything falls or she drops something
she looks up with a shocked look
but never says ut-oh or anything

if she falls we don't say anything.
if we notice by chance she is hurt, then we comfort her
otherwise, nothing is said and she gets right back up

she has mastered the stairs.
she is great at going up and refuses to go back down on her belly.
she insists on sitting and taking one step at a time.

is very shy if someone approaches her or says hi to her first
but she loves to be the one to say hi first
in the grocery store she will wave to every single person
and say either hiiii! or bu ba (bye!)
if your lucky, she will say see ya and blow you a kiss.
on the airplane she said bu ba (bye!)
to the three people sitting behind us

she sure is growing up fast!
we love this age and think she is so funny.

milk reaction

emi has been fed some thing lately that have contained milk
and hasn't had a reaction
or if she did have a reaction
she would just get one little red spot.

i gave her some of my yogurt and nothing happened.
so i decided to try milk.
which she really enjoyed.
so we waited....and waited...
what an awful feeling to watch her skin get red.
and to get my hopes up.
and then.... full on reaction.
i guess even her ears were itchy.
i always feel awful "testing" if her allergies
are still around.
at least her reactions are taking longer
instead of being an instant allergic reaction.
hopefully that is a sign it will go away, eventually.

a few more

{these were all from my phone}

playing at the park after...
playing in the splash park.
we still have her car seat rear facing
but the one we borrowed was forward facing only
she enjoyed looking out the window.
emi is finally starting to want our food.
like the foods she can't eat.
she wanted a bite of his philly cheese steak sandwich, bad!
going up and down the stairs at the beach house
freezing on the beach.
so cold her feet her turning blue
but we had fun watching eddie fly the kite.
proof we actually went to the beach :)
causing trouble!
she is so interested in toilets and toilet paper
honk!
she loves to pinch noses while you say honk.

gg anderson's

today we stopped by eddie's grandparents
before we head home tomorrow.
i wanted to get some pictures with them
since we aren't here very often.
gma anderson had a little gift for emi
a pocket mirror and a little trinket.
she obviously loved it.
i love that gma was able to see her reaction in person.
gpa doing much better and is happy to be home.
emi even let him give her a hug...kind of.
while there i also wanted to get a generation picture.
this is my favorite.
emi wasn't too thrilled about having to sit still.
but we got a few regardless of her snotty behavior.

smelling the flowers

i love how she closes her eyes.
and then she wanted to taste it.
she has learned to smell flowers.
she blows out of her nose
rather than actually smelling the flower.
we think it's cute!
