christmas 2010

every christmas eve my parents, aunts, uncles and cousins
go to my oma and opa's to celebrate christmas
it was nice to be able to join them this year.
we didn't even make it a half mile down the road
we stopped for gas and before we knew it
the whole car unloaded to look at some baby goats.
we leaving yet?
the guys all chatted in the living room
while the women chatted in the kitchen.
emi the future photographer.
oma-grandma in german
cooking in the kitchen
opa-grandpa in german
reading a story...a christmas one i suppose.
an emi sandwich!
christmas morning we opened presents and enjoyed the day.
emi enjoyed unwrapping presents.
i bet next year will be even more fun.
playing with her new tea set and kitchen pots and pans
i hope she enjoys her new kitchen when we go home.

twenty one months

another month has flown by, especially during december
i have actually started saying she will be 2 in march
since it is right around the corner...
when people ask me how old she is.

we have some major communication issues going on
she knows exactly what she is saying, and we have no clue what she is trying to say
she has her own language it seems
and this is usually the result.
crying...probably saying, why don't you understand me?
she is saying a whole bunch of new words..
her favorite word has gone from ouch to stuck!
she also says please...ease!!! light, open, shoes
and my favorite is choo-choo....
she says it howling like a dog, putting her face in the air.
she says a few others but i can seem to ever think of them
when i sit down to document it.
she is obsessed with my camera!
the above picture was taken christmas eve
she's holding my cousin's camera, knowing exactly what to do.
every time i take a picture...she says...eeeee!!
which means she wants to see.
emi's new favorite books are how do dinosaurs....
and her ellie the elephant book still.
she has gotten completely comfortable with dogs and cats
but freaks out if we try to sit her on a fake elephant.
she definitely tells us when she doesn't like something.
and if your bothering her, she will tell you no.
like get away from me or don't touch me.
she could be having a full on crying fit about something
ask her a question and she will say no,
like she was never crying.
usually looking down and slowly shaking her head no
and if you ask her any question, no matter what it is
the answer will be no.
when she thinks she is being silly and laughing about something
she will cover her mouth with her hands.
when something spills or drops, she says NOOO!
instead of oh no! while putting her hands on her cheeks.
emi loves to organize and line things up.
if she is playing and something seems out of place
she will fix it before she can move on and play.
emi is the smartest little baby we know.
she watches and listens to everything we say.
and understands everything.
she knows how to turn the t.v. on and off
we have to put passwords on our phones
because she knows how to work them
she is learning to open and shut doors
and will take her fake keys and try to put them in doors.
i love when she takes her keys and fake cell phone
and comes up to me, says bye!
and gives me a kiss, like she is leaving.
when she thinks i am funny, she will say illy(no s sound) mama.
but won't call me mom, mommy, or anything.
whenever she sees something of eddie's and he isn't home
she yells...daddy!
when i try to take something away from her, she says mine!
when done eating she will take off her bib and empty her plate
she is a yogurt snob and will only eat certain yogurt.
she loves watching t.v.
if i turn off the t.v. and work on some chores or something
she will try to turn on the t.v. with the remote.
she isn't very good at playing by herself...
she always needs me to play with her.
she loves sesame street and sesame street books
she calls elmo, bell-bow, cracks me up.
she will make loud noises and then say: shhhh!
i'm sure i'm missing something
but she is growing so fast
she starts something new
and it seems like she's been doing it awhile.

graham cracker houses

*i started this about 5 hours ago.
since then i have been holding eddie's hair, kidding....but he has been ralphing
i've probably changed at least 8 diarrhea diapers.
administered liquids, gatorade and pedialyte and tylenol.
i guess you could say i've been playing nurse.*

i thought it would be a fun activity to make
some 'gingerbread' houses
i think it turned out well.
i found the stash of my little brothers left over halloween candy
so we had a ton of different candies to work with.
construction was the hardest part.
and the messiest.
ozzy wanted in on the fun.
he literally ran around the table going from person to person
hoping we would slip him something to snack on.
eventually he just waited under the table.

dad's was a s'more model home, with a chocolate roof and all.
tanner's was king benjamin's tower.
eddie's was a beach hut.
and mine was a traditional gingerbread looking house.
i think they turned out great. and it was super fun to do.
maybe we will have to do it again
and have a contest when mom gets back into town
and ashley and david get here.

sickie, sickie

seriously, i feel like this happens every time we leave home.
we have been at my parents for christmas vacation for 3 days so far.
emi being sick for two and eddie one day, hopefully i'm not next.
some sort of stomach bug has kept them both in bed.
these pictures were taken yesterday of emi.
we laid her down for a nap at 1:30pm and she slept until 3:45amish!
and then has been sleeping on and off all morning.
no more throwing up for emi, but it's obvious she doesn't feel good.
hopefully they can feel better soon.
we had initially planned to do some "touristy" things these past few days.
but we are here for almost 3 1/2 weeks...we have plenty of time.

reindeer shirts

i found this tutorial online and knew i had to make it.
{click on "this" for link}
it was super easy. took less than 30 minutes to do both.
tracing, ironing and a little sewing.
the hardest part was the bow. really.

change of plans

{taken at the zoo today}

we were suppose to be moving to california this wednesday.
but these past few weeks have been crazy.
so many hard decisions... so little time.
the situation is a little complicated...
eddie is officially done with classes
but to graduate he has to complete a 400 hour internship
he was hoping/planning on getting a job starting in dec/jan.
and using his job as his internship.
well the job market stinks right now.
and the opportunity didn't present itself.
we had a lot of close calls with getting a job.
but when push came to shove, we had nothing.
not even a solid internship opportunity.

so we decided we would move to california.
stay with my parents until eddie could get a job/internship.
i started packing. made a list of everything i needed to cancel
and/or organize for our move.
we had given our notice at church that we would be moving.
we felt good about it.
looking forward to it actually, we would be closer to family.

a week ago, eddie came home and announced he had gotten an internship.
yay! i knew he had been talking to some people in california
so i assumed it was for there.
nope. here at UofL in their athletic department.
he hadn't accepted the position yet because he wanted to talk to me first.
gasp! what?!?...we are moving in less than 2 weeks, is all i could think
i was actually walking out the door to an appt.
so all i really said to him was, cool...that's great.
thinking of all the things i will need to un-do or un-pack.
or if our apartment complex will even let us stay.

well needless to say, we didn't really even have to talk about it.
i came home and we both said the same thing at the same time.
even though we are ready to move on and out of here.
we need to stay for a few more months.
so we signed a new lease and will be staying
in our apartment for 3 more months.
hopefully by then eddie can find a job.

berries only

emi tried cereal for the first time this past week.
i figured she has mastered eating yogurt.
it was time to try out some cereal.
lucky her all we had was captain crunch.she really enjoyed it.
but she would only eat the berries...
i really wish she would eat more healthy at breakfast.
i keep telling myself it is because it's winter
and fresh fruit is not growing in abundance.
pretty much after every spoonful she would say: hmmm!
this morning she tried drinking the milk when she was done.
she hasn't transitioned 100% to a cup but does pretty good.
but a bowl with milk is a whole different story.

friday night fun

we were rolling!! she is so fun to be around.
most of the time...:)

she ripped off the mouth from this halloween bag
and that book...ugh the book... i read it at least 10 times a day
but that is another post for another day
emi is really into painters tape.
eddie thought it would be funny to tape her eyes.
it didn't work but it was funny to watch.

so then he stuck pieces on her.
moo'ing....should be baaahh'ing
she went from this...
to this in 2 seconds flat.
i love these pictures.
he was saying something with his nose plugged.
she obviously thought it was hilarious.

getting tickled...
giving loves...she is so loving.
i hope she stays this fun forever!

ramblings...

  • we are moving in two weeks. i want to pack the whole house so it is done with... BUT i don't want to live out of suitcases and eat off paper plates for a whole two weeks.
  • emi LOVES kettle popcorn. like she eats a regular size bag all by herself.
  • it "snowed" this morning, which it just flurried and nothing stuck but by KY standards it snowed.
  • our neighbor we share a bedroom wall with got a new boyfriend, if you know what i mean...wink...wink. ewww! bummer i am such a light sleeper.
  • emi ate two yogurts, a banana and bag of popcorn for snack yesterday after her nap. no wonder she wasn't hungry for dinner.
  • i could stay in jammies and never leave the house for days and be happy.
  • i wear flip flops pretty much everyday, so why is it that i cleaned out my closet and still have 20 pairs of shoes?
  • we got new asian neighbors two months ago, they are across from us and downstairs. eVerY tImE i go into the laundry room (closest shared wall with them) it smells like the kitchen of a chinese restaurant. a nasty fishy smelling restaurant kitchen.
  • someone sent me a message on reguarding my shop saying i was added to their treasury and i have no clue what that means? and should i thank them?
  • eddie is neck deep in end of the semester school work. he's also up to his eyeballs in job & internship applications/interviews. hopefully something will work out soon here.
  • i quit biting my nails before i had emi. i have bitten off all nails and my thumb down to a nub pretty much.
  • eddie's work is having a xmas party, we will be the youngest couple there by at least 30 years. oh and did i mention emi is invited. i bet they just invited us so they can see emi one last time before we move.
  • i have nothing to blog about, obviously. maybe i should go shower for the day, even if it is almost 9 pm at night.
