8th grade promotion

on friday the 20th
tanner graduated from 8th grade.
it was fun to be able to be here to support him.

emi stayed busy eating and watching dora & boobs(boots) ha!

eddie was in charge of carrying the goods!

not sure how many are in his class
but they split the group into two
one group to the left of the stage and the other group on the right side.
tanner was on the left side, among a sea of students.
i thought it was hilarious i caught him yawning.

and i caught him "fixing" his hair.

when he walked across the stage all you could see was his back
luckily i was able to catch him walking back to his seat.
my dad dared him to do the "dougie"
{you can google teach me how to dougie, if you don't know what that is...
but most likely if you don't know what that means, you probably won't care}
tanner claims he would of done it, but didn't get the text in time.

happy graduation tanner!!

a few things i want to remember

emi is changing at such a rapid rate.
it's sad and scary how quickly she is growing up
and lately she has been doing some things i wanted to remember.

emi eating out of her "treat" bag!
i left the room for a few minutes and came back to a purple mouth and hands.
i decided, what the heck... let her live a little
she would spit out all yellow, green and orange jelly beans
which is funny because when not given a choice she will eat any color.
i said to her, o.k. don't tell daddy.
what happens the second he comes home?
daddy, me eat! while pointing to the jelly beans.

it's been raining her for days and she has insisted on being wrapped up.
and says brrr... me cold!
i also have been putting socks on her
and she insists on taking them off for nap time
but wants them back on once she wakes up. silly girl.
speaking of nap time. today i said ok, let's go read some books, it's nap time.
she said, no! i mah (mad)!! i said your what?
so she swung her arm and said it louder, i mah (mad)!
i said oh, your mad it's nap time...in which she said uh huh with a big smile.
i think we are finally making some progress with her talking.

emi has been fascinated by the rain
and we have been singing a lot of the wise man song.
along with popcorn popping because her favorite snack is popcorn.

the last few days emi has had a hard time settling down
and falling asleep on her own.
so she's been giving us the poop excuse, is what we call it.
we have a routine that never changes.
bath, p.j's, brush teeth, books, potty, another book, prayer and into bed.
and right after we end our prayers she holds her butt and says poop!
if we say no she cries, if we say ok she giggles the whole way to the bathroom.
so we have been just saying this is your chance when she goes potty before bed
and let her cry it out...crossing our fingers she won't actually poop. ha!

another thing i wanted to remember was her first actual more than two word sentence.
she had popcorn the day before and had left her bowl in our room
when she came into our room the next morning
she walked right by her empty popcorn bowl and gasped!
she said: oh no! me(my) popcorn is all gone!
i said what?, from shocked at what i had just heard.
in which she repeated it again.

this is going by way too fast!!

seven years

happy anniversary to us!

we were able to go to the temple to do some sealings.
while emi took a nap, thank you tanner for babysitting.
then the three of us went out to dinner and enjoyed each others company.

congratulations eddie!
we are so proud of you and all your hard work!!

i'm so happy you'll never have to study again.
and maybe once you get your diploma, since your not walking...
i will take a picture with your two degrees.

we love you!!

first swim of the season

this past week it was nice and toasty outside
so tanner and eddie decided to take a swim.
emi was begging to go in so we stripped her down and in she went.

eddie would take her around the pool then back to the stairs
where she would beg to go in more.

i had to laugh at this picture.
she was actually telling ozzy no!

she loved swimming!

the only bad thing...the water is still freezing!
like swimming in a lake freezing.
once she was out of the water she was freezing! if you couldn't tell by her face.

hopefully next time it will be warmer
and we will actually put a swimming suit on her.

last week

tanner had some friends over for a little swim party and hot dogs.
emi enjoyed watching to guys play in the pool.

tanner was trying all sorts of crazy tricks.
this was a requested pose by tanner.
i have about 4 others that look very similar to this.
with his crazy side-ways tongue.

emi loves popcorn so much!
she was trying to hurry and eat it before ozzy got to it.

we didn't stay out long though
because it was freezing!
the pool is still cold, like a lake but the guys didn't care.

also last week emi helped me in the garden and orchard.
we usually are still in our p.j.'s when we water the trees.
the tree to the left of her is a fuzzy peach tree
planted just for emi...since she was fuzzy like a peach when she was born.
and cousin claire has an apple tree, since she is the apple of gpa's eye.

who knew artichokes grew sort of like pineapples
i can't wait until they are ready to eat! yum!

mother's day 2011

i had a wonderful mother's day this year.
spend a relaxing day at home.
while eddie was my slave served me all day!
i was able to sleep in, until 8am
and when i woke up i had a nice pancake breakfast.

these are the pictures we made for all mothers (grand & great)

i was also able to take a nap, while emi napped.
except we stayed up playing words with friends for the first hour.

my little brother tanner made me a power point and wrote me a haiku.

Haiku for Amber:
She loves all people
Is a great mother to us
We all love her too
All would be jealous
If they had a mother like you
We love you Amber!

so sweet! thank you tanner!!

we ended the day g-chatting with momo and poppy
russell and niki joined us.

Happy belated Mother's Day!

two year appt

we finally got around to taking emi to her 2 year well check up
she was so perfect the whole time!
and she obviously loved crinkling the paper .
she said: HeY! as the dr. walked in.
held her ear for him to look in, ha!
i tried talking to her about going to the dr. a few days before we went
and every time i mentioned him looking in her ears
or looking in her mouth and listening to her heart.
or touching her belly (her least favorite part)
she would say no!
but when we got there she was so good about it
except when he went to listen to her lungs on her back
she was like, what the heck? no one told me about this...

she weighed in at 28 pounds and is 35 inches tall
and her head was 48 cm, i think.

she also had to get a TB test...
the nurse had her lay down on the table
and kind of laid on her legs so she couldn't move them.
eddie was in charge of one arm and i was in charge of the procedure arm.
the needle went in, and emi said: OuCh!
and that was that! so brave no crying at all.

then we headed over to the blood draw place to get tested for lead.
this picture speaks a thousand words!!
what a traumatic experience. no wonder people hate needles.
unfortunately, this lady couldn't find a vein and swam around to find one
so a different lady tried, while i held emi.
i pretty much had her in a choke hold to hold her still.
it was so sad, and she was so upset.
once it was over, she was like drained.
and whimpered for a good 30 minutes after even busting into tears
luckily we don't have to do that for another year!

she is doing just fine now and it's like nothing ever happened.
besides her three boo boo's!

outside fun

emi loves being outside.
and i never really realized how much time we spent inside.
when we lived in the apartment. but then again she was younger.
so we are trying to soak up the nice weather before it gets to 100+.

when we got back from utah eddie washed the car.
and of course emi wanted to help/watch.

this thing work??
she kept shaking it to get the water out.

{emi had a little accident the day before these pictures.
we have been cleaning out the pool and the pool has been empty.
well while were were emptying the last little bit of water before we re-fill it
miss emi was walking around in her dress-up shoes
and took a spill down the stairs into the pool.
i watched it all happen from too far away
while everyone else had their backs to her.
by the time i yelled for help, she was at the bottom of the stairs.
luckily her noggin just got a little banged up and nothing else.
we kept her up and watched her to make sure she was acting fine.
and obviously by the pictures below, she is doing just fine.
now a couple of days later the scratches are almost healed.}

i have no clue what she thought was so funny, but something was.

then uncle tanner came out to play basketball and that was more fun
than watching eddie wash the car.
i wish i could have got a picture of her with her hands to her cheeks
saying oh-no! when the ball rolled into the water.

typical emi face as of late.
she knows people laugh at it, so she does it all the time.

she ended her play time outside with picking flowers.
it was hilarious! she would sniff the flowers so hard
usually resulting in a sneeze...

russell's BYU graduation 2011

congrats russell!
we were so happy we could make it and celebrate with you.

elder richard g scott spoke at commencement.
i can't recall a word he spoke because emi was so busy.
she was about 3 hours over due for a nap.
and in the end eddie ended up taking her out and she fell asleep.

the second day of graduation.
i totally missed him walking, with my camera.
i was following the agenda and they skipped all around.

but eddie's dad was able to get some shots.
emi watched t.v. most of the time.
when she wasn't kicking the older couple in front of us .

i made a shirt for the celebration!
we are so proud of uncle russell.
weird to think when eddie graduated two years ago she was just a month old.

after graduation we headed up to sundance for some lunch....
but they were closed for some sort of month long break. boo!
so we walked around and looked at the pretty scenery.

after we picked up some lunch we headed over to provo beach resort.
i tried talking eddie into trying the surfing thing but he wouldn't.
and all of a sudden emi won't ride on a carousel horse...
she insists on sitting on the bench. boring!

i can't believe i didn't take any pictures of emi and her grandparents?!?
a majority of these pictures are actually from poppy's camera, thanks!

we had a wonderful time visiting family and friends.
it's amazing how fast a week went by.
i apologize to those we didn't see and thanks to those that fit us in their busy lives.
and of course we loved visiting with momo and poppy and aunt niki and uncle russell.

visiting with gg and gpa

we took a short trip to utah last week for some graduation celebrations.
while there we visited with gg and gpa a few times.

we also stayed with ashley and david for the whole week. (thanks! a&d)

eddie was thrilled to drive another 10 hours, after driving from KY recently.
it was nice he could come, because he hadn't seen gg and gpa since we moved to KY.

emi loved visiting with gg and gpa.
gpa gave her suckers and cookies and she loved raiding gg's walker.

she doesn't know i took that picture of her knee highs but i thought it was hilarious!
i sure do love her! i love that i talk to her everyday...
i wish one day that i can document her day, for my memory.

and gpa, well he slept most of the time.
when he wasn't giving emi a sucker or cookies.

we were also in utah for easter and my aunt gloria was so nice to welcome us.
we were excited to eat some yummy food and especially her marshmallow yams.

we had fun visiting and playing domino's
well some of us had fun playing domino's. ha!
