weekly updates

i'm two almost three weeks behind.

so basically it's a picture phone dump

makai right before his first haircut

sporting his 6 month monster outfit

momo and i almost didn't get it cause we didn't

 think he would be big enough for it.

after his haircut.

after wearing these overalls all day.

i'm pretty sure they are short-alls, not overalls.

 they were capri-ish on him.

emi baking cookies for the airplane ride the next day

too bad i ate all 6 of the ones we brought

she never even asked for them.

nursing the first time in public with makai.

she just sat and waited patiently for me

after we had a serious talk on why she couldn't go play the games.

mr. makai slept both flights and was super social

we sat behind an elderly couple

and they must have been hard of hearing cause they loudly said

they did a lot better than i thought, the baby never cried and 

the little girl wasn't a brat. 

the guy behind me chuckled a little with me.

emi is obsessed with doc mcstuffin

even so much that she has the episodes memorized.

gma was so excited for us to come visit.

and gpa too.

we sat and watched a woman paint on the glass

it was an interesting process to watch

one i'm sure i would have never taken time to do if not at a retirement home

there we were sitting and chatting

when all of a sudden no one was responding

gpa always sleeps but gma usually stays awake for visitors.

she was exhausted from holding makai and pushing emi around.

makai was the bed snuggle buddy.

makai and gpa watching football together

really gpa was sleeping.

something funny happen, well not funny funny

but they eat always at 12:30.

so we went to lunch and came back to their apartment.

gpa fell asleep for his afternoon nap

and all of a sudden woke up and started saying

we need to go, and hurry. they stop serving lunch!!

he had forgotten we already ate lunch.

when ashley came to pick us up she helped us out

emi said: i'm not sure about this

and it's funny there is walker parking instead of stroller parking

 emi was hilarious with diesel

she was so timid of him, he just wanted to lick her.

close your eyes for the prayer mom!

kidding, this wasn't during a prayer but i thought it was funny

he is finally playing with all his toys

grabbing for things. his favorite is still the giraffe.

miss emi, who claims she doesn't need a nap

taking a nap! ashley and david saw a whole new side to her

she woke up super crabby.

we finally made it to the quigley's where emi and i had so much fun

wish we still lived close.

this is when i realized makai needed another haircut.

who needs a bumbo when you have one of these chairs.

we enjoyed yummy, cheap macey's ice cream.

talking about their wedding.

just kidding!

they both slept the entire time, so nice.

until emi woke up and wanted me to carry her to baggage claim.

sneaking fruit leather.

wish i would have taken a picture of her caught face.

just cleaning the floors.

i swear she doesn't see me do this.

besides eddie is in charge of floors.

just working on her fizzy project.

we babysat a friend a year younger. he wasn't interested at all.

mr. makai is drooling a whole bunch 

emi got teeth at 4 months... so i wouldn't be surprised if he did.

and finally! ruby the elf appeared.

eddie and i have been having fun with it.

except this morning ruby brought her a book

and emi rolled her eyes so far back i thought they were going to fall out.

not sure she buys the whole elf spying thing.

makai

i finally took a moment to edit the picture how i wanted them.

i seriously hope he keeps these blue eyes. and his pastie white skin.

 

 might blow this one up....super huge. i love it!

this boy just makes me melt and i love him so much.

yesterday i had the opportunity to provide dinner for a family in our ward

that lost their oldest son earlier this year

and the mother isn't doing so well with the holidays. she's depressed.

 

i was alone most of the day with makai.

and i couldn't help but feel weepy and pain for this mother.

that is my worst nightmare.

i hope i never have to endure a trial of losing a child.

family pictures

we had family pictures taken in mid-november.

i found a great deal online and took the plunge.

first time we ever had professional pictures.

usually we just use our tripod and remote...

we brought gma along for some entertainment. 

she was dancing, shaking her booty in the below picture.

 

we got a few cute pictures of emi

i will post more pictures of him when i'm done editing them.

and this! this is why i cut his hair.

no one ever told me it looks so ridiculous!!

cute yes, but very silly!

i've cut his hair twice now which seems so weird since emi has never had her hair cut.

we basically didn't get any shots of them together.

he just cried every time she held him.

sailor suit

eddie's aunt gail made this sailor suit for him when he was a baby.

the pictures of eddie are at the bottom. he was 3 months.

just a few weeks difference.

the outfit

when eddie's dad (poppy) was adopted at 6 months old he wore this outfit.

this is eddie when he was an infant/toddler

i'm assuming older than 12 months since he is standing on his own

but maybe not? who knows.

so when we went to visit during thanksgiving

we had to try it on makai.

aka...the giant! not even 3 months old and it fit.

makai loved uncle russell's hair/eyebrows 

and would smile whenever he saw russell.

 cute boy!!

 

then we tried the hat

seriously so cute!

eddie refused to fix his ears and tuck them in the beanie.

oh yeah! i just remembered! i hate hats!!!!!

get this off of me! now!

makai's blessing

today eddie gave makai a beautiful blessing

both our parents and my oma and opa were able to attend.

it definitely felt weird not to have more family and friends 

involved and around like we did with emi's blessing.

you all were definitely missed :)

but we had a wonderful day with a yummy brunch after.

eddie and i couldn't agree on a blessing outfit.

we both agreed we didn't like the standard blessing tux thing.

but from there things got a little hairy.

i wanted to find some cable knit outfit, which i couldn't find...weird!

and eddie would basically veto everything i showed him

seriously, what husband cares about those details :)

so when we found a one piece off-white (they didn't have white-white)

i snatched it up and called it good.

this was hilarious.

we were basically done taking pictures

and makai spit up all over what we thought was only emi

such a great big sissy (what she likes to be called)

just demanded a burp rag to wipe it off her jacket.

but in the end, he spit up on eddie's shoes

all down his pant leg and a huge spot on his arm

looks like we will have a dry cleaning bill in our near future.

overall it was a great day!
it was nice to have family together to celebrate our cutie pie.
