weekly update

well, well, well...another week has flown by

my mornings usually look like this

emi dressed for the day but hair isn't done

makai in bed with me, while i try to catch a few more zzz's

usually doesn't happen but i try :)

 not because i can't go back to sleep

but because well makai is awake for one thing

but miss moo bear is wide awake and usually acting crazy.

her daddy does that too :)

we decided to meet eddie for lunch

and check out the double bob stroller at rei

not only do i want one to exercise

but i also need a double stroller

because this is usually how we roll, pretty ghetto

and it's hard to steer with 40 pounds in the front.

 

makai liked it. so, i'll take it.

now i just need to convince eddie the double stroller

comes before the ipad :) 

emi our grew her piggies and had to get new slippers.

our house doesn't have a furnace or a/c

so we use a/c units and heaters to help us during the winter/summer

so unless your in front of the space heater, it can be freezing

i have a rule, either socks or slippers since her feet seem to be cold always.

i found this and about 15 other pictures on my phone from her

i'll spare you the 15 others :)

speaking of picture taking...her leap pad has a camera

i spent about an hour one night deleting about 200 pictures of 

nothing just blurry or really dark pictures.

i snuck a picture of emi in one day at a stop light

she has so much "spunk" lately it's driving me bonkers.

what happen to my happy, ok mommy child?!?

her current favorite game is olivia the pig

she loves to cook and cut and measure.

and some game where she washes dogs and cats.

if my mornings aren't spent in bed

they are usually on the ground or hanging out with makai.

he loves to watch her.

i wish this was clear.

and no i am not a hoarder, mom....

i just live in a tiny 'apartment barn'

and sometimes we have too much stuff for the storage we have.

i always keep at least 2 water bottles out, so i can remember to drink water.

he is totally too big for his bath, but isn't quite sitting up alone yet

so i will continue to get soaked for now.

and the tile in front of the sink will get mopped for sure every other day.

i had to document him sleeping in his car seat

he is entertained some what with toys but if he is tired

there's a good chance he will cry the entire time until he is let out.

which is super weird to me cause emi never cried.

he won't even take a binkie...it's lovely.

once the car stops he usually wakes up. 

every so often he will stay asleep until we get upstairs and then he'll wake up.

he slept for about 10 minutes this time.

just enough time, yet not long enough.

another huge thing. my organic fruit and veggie eater

has never been willing to even try lettuce

we went to costco for a few things and lunch and she wanted a taste of my salad

i had to take a picture. she wasn't sure at first.

then i sat for the remainder of lunch breaking off lettuce and feeding her.

emi loves trader joe's because of the small cart.

well after costco we were suppose to go...but you know who was crying

and my brain was about to explode so i declared mommy nap time

she cried the whole way home...it was great.

went home, makai slept for 4 hours....i slept for 2

who knows what emi did during those 2 hours.

snuck fruit snacks (fruit leather), chocolate chips and orange juice

all while reading books and coloring pictures i'm sure.

well, eventually she came and got into bed with me and fell asleep!

she never naps, ever! well, she ended up sleeping for 4 hours.

so we ended up going to trader joe's after all with eddie.

which is right next door to home goods. 

remind me to ever bring eddie with me...i had things in my cart

after i was done taking emi to the bathroom, my cart was empty.

and everything i even slightly looked at....he said: we don't need that!

makai and his fluffy hair.

he loves this chew toy santa got for him.

so much he yells and practically cries if he can't get it in his mouth fast enough.

music makers is during his morning nap

which by the way, i would have never done something during emi's nap time

but emi needs the social interaction.

he is trying so hard to sit up.

if he is on his back, he rolls over

then eventually cries cause he doesn't like to be on his tummy for too long

if i lean him against something, he arches his back

and eventually slouches down and tries to 'sit up'

so i've been encouraging him to sit up on his own.

he does best without any support

i use to put the boppy behind emi. he just leans back into it if it's behind him.

this picture has two meanings for me.

one he spots his shoes and is like, what the heck?

i specifically put those on him so his socks will stay on.

but secondly i was thinking, i need to find a brick wall somewhere in town

when he can sit up and take his pictures

when it dawned on me! duh! we have brick in our house. ha!

i tried having him sit at the other end.

which was worse, he kicked more because he was so happy to be sitting up.

and this might be inappropriate. but his weenie is totally inverted looking.

he has one, hiding...but is that normal?

i'm thinking he has a small weenie or he didn't get enough cut off.

it really doesn't matter but certain people in my life...mom!..

make me feel like it's teeny weenie peenie.

emi use to be all rollie pollie...where he is just a chunk.

sad to say his 6-9 month clothes are getting tight. what the heck!

i just bought them. and won't he just get more big with solids. sheesh.

ugh. my weirdo child.

she wanted to wear all pink...and have princess fiona hair

wish i had a picture of her whole outfit.

she has think hot pink sparkly tights on.

glad we didn't go anywhere that day.

and she is insistent on dresses....every day!

friday emi had a dentist appt.

and this time eddie came with us.

he took friday off so he could have a 4 day weekend.

she was the only patient for a while.

she had the same hygienist again, so that was nice.

eddie thought it was hilarious

that she just laid there watching the movie.

once again she is in the cavity free club.

she held onto the chair the entire time 

and squirmed a little, just moving her feet when they cleaned her teeth.

after the dentist we hit up the other, nicer mall

since we swung by hobby lobby

they disney store is so much nicer

and they have way better store than our local mall

might be worth the 45 minute drive.

the center mirror talks as you stand in front 

and says something about you being the fairest one of all.

sunday emi wanted her hair straight like mine

i've been trying harder to actually do my hair.

i am 30 and can't wear a messy bun my whole life

so eddie says :)

but i don't like how huge my hair feels when i wear it curly

and it takes 2 hours to straighten it.

anyways..she looked super cute

and wanted me to take a picture of her before church.

this was the first time her virgin hair has ever been touched by heat

i have never even blow dried it before.

i surprised myself by flat ironing it.

after church i took my 3rd...yes you read that right

my 3rd nap of the weekend.

thank you eddie!

makai takes 4 hour naps in the afternoon

so i could easily take a long nap every day if i needed one

but a certain someone can't seem to be away from me for very long

eddie usually says he had to fight her off with a stick

to keep her out of our bedroom.

she came in to wake me up.

if she doesn't nap, no one naps is her motto.

so she started taking pictures of me.

so i took some of her.

a majority of the pictures where her smiling huge

cause she doesn't even know how to fake sleep.

today we went with tanner and eddie to the pizza buffet

proof she is eating salad! not to mention she loves beans 

and her most favorite is the hard boiled eggs.

she just picks the toppings off the pizza

as she still refuses to eat bread!

weekly update

my quality of pictures this past week are horrible

emi has been anti-picture taking

hopefully she will let me take pictures of her this week

mr. makai thinks between 5:30-6:30 is an acceptable time to wake up

usually he goes right back to sleep after his morning feeding

not this morning. he was wide awake and yelling (talking).

 

i decided to break out the baby einstein dvd's 

hoping i could back to sleep on the couch

he watched them but then emi woke up

and no nap was given to this tired mama that day.

makai has his dr. appt on tuesday.

he weighed 16 pounds 13 oz and 25 inches tall

the friday before i had bought a new costco size of diapers

the 2's fit but are getting very snug

i wasn't how much he weighed so i bought 2's again

well after his appt. i was happy i never opened them

since after we run out of 2's...we have like 3 left

he will move up to size 3 diapers.

he has a little eczema/cradle cap

it's just on his soft spot and he has dryness behind his ears

we started using the greasy pig lotion is what i call it

and his ears are looking better

i guess the cradle cap just takes care of itself, unless it's red and itchy

which his isn't so we are good to go.

during the dr. appt the nurse mentioned to me that emi will be getting shots

kind of in a whisper, talking out the side of her mouth

in hopes emi wouldn't hear.

well emi heard and before i said anything back to the nurse

emi goes: that's ok. i'm brave and won't cry. ha!

we'll see about that. i'm glad she isn't nervous though.

makai won't fall asleep nursing nor in his car seat

which is completely opposite of how emi was

but i have figured out that if i rock/pat him which makes him fall asleep

i can put him sideways and he will stay asleep.

too bad he wakes up when i try to move him

i seriously never understood when people said their babies didn't transfer well

well we have one. he wakes up the instant the car slows down or stops.

i guess he never wants to miss out

or maybe it is because emi yells: we're here! we're home!! and wakes him up

emi has really been enjoying music makers

they made the cutest hat about each month

i am in charge of the month of april and look forward to planning

now i just need to choose a topic.

still can't get over these baby blues

 when thinking about marrying eddie

a blue eye'd baby was checked off my deal breaker list

i loved eddie more than having a blue eye'd baby

what i didn't remember was my dad and his mom have blue eyes.

i am now wondering if his hair will lighten up

since his eyebrows are not that dark.

 

and then there is my big brown eye'd girl

she keeps catching cold after cold.

luckily makai only caught her really bad cold

which was just a minor cold for him

but every time a new cold appears emi trys to blame it on someone

like so and so gave it to me.

if she can't think of anyone she always has a default, her friend ethan.

you know what is awesome.

she totally knows how to blow her own nose.

threatening the suction finally paid off, ha!

emi doesn't want to be 4

she wants to be 6 so she can go to school.

she loves to practice her letters, numbers and cutting

she is quite good for a lefty.

her straight lines are still super wiggly but she is working on it

she doesn't color in the line either.

she just likes to color specific items, like buttons on a shirt

or someones ear, or just the apples on the tree.

emi is weird and likes to watch ellen and the evening news with me

i was trying to take her picture but she caught me

and stayed like this for a good 5 minutes.

checking back to see if i was still taking pictures

only to stick her tongue out at me and hide her face again.

she has no shame and will pick and eat her boogers

somehow i came across a booger this past week

oddly enough i can't remember how, maybe my own? ha!

and she goes: it's ok just eat it. it's good! she cracks me up.

i seriously love these books. she wanted to read me a book one night.

she was willing to take a silly picture of mac n cheese

can you believe at 3 3/4 years old, she is just liking mac n cheese!!

this dinner was horrible as eddie came down with either food poisoning

or the 24 flu bug.

i ended up sleeping on the couch and having 3 babies that night.

i noticed when i was taking this picture how close he was to the edge

i can't put him on the counter anymore anyways

he leans way back and that makes me nervous

he was totally following her, as she ran into her room

as i was trying to take a picture of him sucking on his pink washcloth.

just like emi use to suck on this fish finger puppet we called her sushi.

weekly update

well the first week of the new year rolled by

and it was nice to have eddie home some of the week.

but it is also nice he is back to work...someone has to make the money

on the home front not much has gone on

trying to figure out where to put our new christmas items

as well as entertaining the kids

makai makes the funniest faces and this is my favorite

he does it frequently but it only lasts a few seconds

good thing too cause i'd hate for his face to get stuck this way, ha!

makai also learned to roll over.

from back to front. he hasn't even tried front to back

he fussed the first few times, like what the heck

how did i trap my arm?!?

now if laid on his back he immediately turns over.

i gave makai another hair cut.

and he now is sporting a flat top.

his hair has a mind of it's own and just wants to stand up.

makai also insists on sitting up at all times

if not standing of course.

eddie and i have been slacking when it comes to teaching emi the gospel

we have more "family hang out time"

rather than official FHE...and now that she is in sunbeams

we remembered a few things from being sunbeam teachers

it's obvious! super obvious!! 

what parents talk about the gospel with their kid

and which kids actually know how to pray

not to mention they tell all family secrets.

so we decided to start being "better" parents.

the great debate. to get an ipad or not to get an ipad

that is the question.

we went to the mall to check them out for the 100th time.

i wanted to go to the mall to get these cute black flats 

some girl was wearing in home goods.

$40, not thanks! not for someone who doesn't wear shoes that often.

so we explored the disney store while daddy explored the apple store

from here my pictures are all jumbled and out of order.

since i don't care that much i won't take the 2 minutes it would take to fit it.

since i literally just have 2 minutes to finish this here update :)

seriously, why has blogging taken the trunk spot

like way past the back seat on things to do.

my mom hosts exchange students

sort of...they are either from China or Japan

and they stay anywhere from 10-20 days

a new round of kids came and we met them at the firehouse 

to have a tour with them.

this happens every time.

and i wish i would have gotten a picture of her face up close

she was rolling her eyes and groaning

like: seriously! again?!?

she doesn't get that she is such a cutie i guess.

we were running late but had to get a picture.

miss emi has been anti picture taking.

not sure if you could tell on her face

but she is questioning what i was doing

i lied and said i was texting someone

all while i was taking a picture of her freshly painted toes

he stayed like this for a while.

once he does roll over he is totally moving his legs to crawl

his front isn't as far along as his legs are strong.

sunday morning we woke up to lots of puddles.

funny story.

i have a onesie pj's/footed pj's....whatever they are called.

they are red with black mickey mouse heads

so i'm outside with emi, in my pj's

when doug yells out his back door. i see a ladybug!

one i thought it was early enough maybe they wouldn't be up

and two it was funny cause from far away i looked like a lady bug

then at church he gave me a hard time about my pajamas

and how he yelled for kay to come and see 

and that they had a good laugh. 

nice to know they were making fun of me and my pj's :)

rocking out.

there was no music on.

he kept trying to eat the ear part.

and we were laughing so of course he was laughing.

maybe i'll try to take one of her next week.

i had high hopes for a cuter outfit for her first sunday

but whatever...my opinion doesn't count anymore for her outfits

we didn't stay the entire tour.

it was freezing outside

and emi wanted to leave

so i snapped a picture real quick of her in front of the truck.
