easter

i have a couple of pictures on my cell phone
but these will have to do for now.
i might add them later or just add them to the weekly update.

our ward had an easter egg hunt saturday morning.

listening to the rules.
my barefoot child. the minute we get somewhere she asks to take her shoes off.

emi was all over the place.
she had so much fun and she was so fun to watch.

luckily my mom was there, and makai took a nap
he never falls asleep besides in his crib or car seat
i had to take a picture, he was out!

she seriously had so much fun!
everyone always compliments me on her hair
which is funny, cause i just do what i can to tame the mane
this is my favorite hair style though.

gma had a easter basket for her and makai
i thought it was funny. my mom asked her if she knew what peeps were
she said yea. like duh. they are birds....that are pink.
maybe you had to be there, her tone was stating the obvious
when really she had no clue they were marshmallows
that's cause i eat them before she gets a chance :)

the easter bunny visited our house as well.
eddie and i went out that night and got home late.
i literally was in bed for the night when i remembered
gasp! i still need to put her basket together and fill the eggs and hide them!
you know how hard it is to buy things and keep them hidden
i prefer to shop once eddie is home and emi is asleep.

7 months

mr. makai turned 7 months on my birthday
weird to think he is past 6 months
he is doing all the typical 6 months things
sitting up, eating solids, trying to crawl...

i don't know why but i love this picture.
but then it also reminds me of the fat kid in harry potter
the mean one...not sure of his name.

my new favorite picture of makai.

his hair looks like this for no more than 15 minutes
then his hair starts to dry and it poofs way up.

yes he is standing....on his own....on a chair
sometimes he just won't bend to sit. he's stubborn.
so i let him stand, don't worry i was right there
to watch him face plant it catch him if he fell

he now has three teeth.
all on the bottom and a 4th one is brewing.
you can see it, but it has yet to emerge.

he loves peas, well any vegetable
he will eat anything really
but thinks all fruits are tart and makes a silly face.
if he doesn't like it, he will half spit it out
if he loves it, he begs for more with his mouth open
he acts like the typical starving 15 year old :)

we've turned a corner...sort of.... with his sleeping issues
now we have new sleeping issues :)
he usually has oatmeal and food around 5:30-6
then he takes a bath, then plays until about 7
7:15 if i can buy more time.
then he nurses and goes to bed for the night
he is usually in bed by 7:15-7:30 and sleeps until 12:30
like on the dot.
then from 12:30-3:30 he goes from sleeping a little bit then wakes up and cries
basically in 20 minute increments.
a couple things happen at 3:30
he either decides to give up and passes out, he gets brought into our bed
or he is put in the swing to sleep the rest of the night.
i've tried every scenario and am at the point of not going in to replace the binkie
when he wakes up at 12:30
his dr. has ok'd that he is old enough and weighs enough
that he doesn't need a night time feeding
i have even tried feeding him at 12:30. doesn't work for a couple of reasons
he nurses horribly because he falls asleep a couple minutes in
and once back in bed after being asleep he will wake up.
when he does cry, his cry is a mad one.
he stops crying once he hears me in the night before I even enter his room.
i replace his binkie then he screams and cries until i come back.
it's exhausting really.
i'm failing miserably trying to go to bed at 9
so i can at least sleep a couple hours at a time.

other than his sleeping "issues" he is the perfect baby
he rarely cries and if he does, he has a reason
just today, two people i see once a week
said today was the first day they had ever heard him fuss before
and that was because i stopped 'jumping' him up and down, my arms were tired.

this face resulted in me forcing him to sit, bend at the waist.
he hates being forced to do anything.
he has a sweet spot as i call it, to sleep
and when i force him to his side when being difficult
he will force his arm back, usually hitting himself in the head. ha!
he is so close to crawling.
he rarely sits up anymore as he always is lunging to get something
that is usually out of his reach but thinks he can get it
he rolls all over the living room
and if he is somewhere else when i leave the room
i will come back and when i 'find' him, he will smile real big
and sometimes even laugh...he must think he is funny.
he also prefers to stand. he tries so hard to stand against things
if given the right support he pull himself up.

4 year check up

the day after emi's birthday she had her 4 year old check up
she loved it since she loves doc mcstuffn
she weighed in at 41 pounds and 40.5 inches tall
she is basically the size of a average 5 year old
explains why she wears size 5 in both pants and shirts.

she has excellent vision
and could read the entire bottom line
i love that she called  the mug/cup a tea cup for a tea party
such a girly answer.

her hearing test was a different story
she did great the first few beeps, then she quit responding.
the nurse asked if she could hear
emi just gave me the bug eye'd look like...is she really talking to me
so i then asked if she could hear
she then gave the eye roll and head shake...like duh!
in the end she refused to participate after a few beeps.

dun...dun...dun...after the dr. gave her a check up
she had to get 4 shots.
emi was so brave and didn't cry on all three
then the last one, the shot nurse (different from the check up nurse)
said to us: i'm not gonna lie. this one is gonna hurt
at which emi tried to kick and screamed/cried.
it was so sad.
i am not sure if it really hurt anymore or if it was what the nurse said.

since she did so well
and tanner (our sidekick for the day) was starving
so we stopped at mcdonalds for a hot fudge sundae.
luckily she is done with shots now until she is about 10, i think
she does however have to get some blood work done in 3 months.
not really looking forward to that.

emi's 4th birthday

emi is finally 4!!
since about 2 & 3/4 i have felt like emi is 15
so i am happy she is finally 4
i've heard the horrible three's go away and are replaced by sweet angel children
i'm not holding my breath

the week leading up to her birthday
she kept talking about having a party and her friends were coming over
and she wanted a bounce house
little did she know i had nothing planned.
i can't believe i've never thrown her a friends birthday party
we will have to next year for sure.
the problem we have is all the kids are a year older or a year younger than her
so the older kids think she is a 'baby' and she thinks the ones younger than her are 'babies'
a few days before eddie and i decided we would take her to chuckie cheese
we have a new one in town and we figured now or never while it's new

well...when she woke up her birthday morning she wondered when her party was starting
i had to break the news....dun dun dun...no party
so instead i said i had a surprise for her
she has been dying to go to fairy tale town
she had no idea where we were going until we pulled into the parking lot
and she was so excited!!

not sure if it was worth it to buy the dang key
by the looks of this picture she seems bored to death. ha!
there were a lot of kids with keys that day...first day of spring break

emi is a quick amusement park person.
some friends of ours showed up a few minutes after us
we had gone through the whole park
before they had even gone to two attractions.
yes he had 3 kids with him...but still
she rides the slide once, and she's done
she looked at the farm and was done.
seen one cow, seen em' all i guess :)

she wanted to be the driver for some reason.
and thought it was so fun.

she put her head in each of the wizard of oz people
until she got to the tin man
she would peek through and say: no! not him or her

then she hit the play ground
makai was sleeping so i got out my zoom lens
i was shocked she was climbing this 'tree trunk'
especially in a skirt! usually she is a nervous nellie.

i looked down for 2 seconds and then saw her climbing this
i almost ran to her, since she has never even tried to climb that

this was as far as she went.
then she must have changed her mind.

then she worked her way down.

she was so excited to come tell me she climbed up
little did she know i was watching the entire time.

then she got to choose where she wanted to eat for lunch
of course she pick mcdonalds
she had her usual, except this time i ordered her a hot fudge sundae.
she died and went to heaven.
sometimes she would just take a spoonful of hot fudge
other times just ice cream and obviously together.
needless this chocolate lover, loved it.

we were gonna go to funderland across the street
but mr. fussy pants only likes to nap in his crib
so we headed home. once eddie got home she opened presents.
she had opened ours in the morning. so boring...just summer clothes.

in her card from momo and poppy was a gift card
to her favorite place, jamba juice.
i thought this picture was hilarious. we asked her what it said.
instead of looking at the symbol she was literally trying to read it.

she is a pro at scissors.
emi insisted on using her scissors to open the box up.

so excited!! doc mcstuffin.

she has slept with her every night.
i have a funny story i will put in here
cause i want to remember it.
emi was asking me about halloween and what she wanted to be
either sofia the first or doc mcstuffin....shocker!!
well i explained it would be easier to be doc mcstuffin since she has the dr kit
she would just need a white jacket. which i could make or we would buy.
emi went on to say she needed some tennis shoes, and then there was this silence
of her thinking.....then she said
and you need to paint my face brown.
in that same sentence she said, oh yeah and a headband!
i asked her why we needed to paint her face.
she said she needed to paint her face brown cause doc mcstuffin was brown
so i took the opportunity to talk about different skin tones.
but i laughed so hard on the inside when she said that.
the little things she noticed.

moving on up from the sippy cups.

so chuckie cheese was ok.
emi had fun. we felt like we were at walmart.

bad cell phone pictures. but she loved it!

this was her favorite ride
she wasn't happy it didn't give tickets.
it barely moved and reminded me of tanner's
i need another quarter ride (inside joke)

the cake. oh boy.
so usually we get an ice cream cake
cause emi doesn't eat cake, or cookies (unless homemade)
well we didn't have space in our freezer
and she saw the rainbow cake on pinterest and wanted it
so i spent the day before her birthday dyeing batter and baking all day
well the cake was too soft and when i went to frost it
it fell apart. my dad thought it was a legit dr. seuss cake.

i swear i didn't think the cake would survive
and went to bed anticipating having half the cake fall onto the ground
well it survived. it was ugly but edible.
when emi saw it, she covered her mouth and gasped.
i said: i'm sorry it didn't turn out.
she said: i don't care. i love it!
i was gonna go get an ice cream cake. but after that i knew i couldn't.

getting ready to blow out her candles and make a wish.

gpa asked her what she wished for
eddie and i both laughed when she said:
a puppy!
she would probably get another sibling or two
before she gets a puppy if ever. we aren't animal people.

a couple days later was my birthday.
i'm 31 now. i guess that means i am officially old :)
emi was so excited to celebrate.
found a new favorite at leatherby's, the peanut butter sauce

bath time fun

emi loves to help give makai a bath
she especially likes to scrub him down and get his hair wet
which usually results in water all over the floor
and in the cabinets...

the pictures below are from last night

he had peas up his nose.
and he just wanted to bite and suck on the washcloth.

that hair of his is crazy.

one of my new favorite pictures
too bad he isn't smiling. but at least they are both looking.
