weekly update(s)

i'm a few weeks behind and with my phone being wonky
i don't have too many pictures anyways.

april 22nd for FHE we planted our little seedlings for our garden.
i was in charge of documenting where they were in the pods
eddie was on dirt duty and emi on the seeds.

ever so carefully placing the seeds in there.
then eddie would go behind her and dump a bunch in.

after our planting of our garden we went to frozen yogurt
emi doesn't ever care what her hair looks like.

makai and his elvis hair.... pre-haircut.
you can't even see it that well, but this is how it was everyday.
all the old ladies would say: oh i love his hair!

the devil child sleeper. i plan to do his 8 month update
and i plan to elaborate on that, so i can look back at this time in my life
where this sweet, happy, smiley baby does me in most days.
i took this picture cause he is angelic when he actually sleeps
but i thought the view of his hair was funny.

not sure if i already posted this picture.
but during music makers i put him in there for a couple of reason
to keep him safe from some of the younger kids
and so he was contained. he had never pulled himself up yet.
he was in there for a very short time before i turned around to see him like this.

ugh. emi and her crazy hair.
this is what it looks like most mornings.
she didn't want to have her picture taken.
but this is a good example of why i never put her in a standard ponytail.

after this haircut. didn't turn out how i wanted it to.
but was much better than his huge afro puff.

eddie spent one friday night with his young men from church
they stayed on the uss hornet for the night.

while eddie was away for the night we treated ourselves to a sundae.
and...... we ate it in the car. a big no no with daddy.
what daddy doesn't know, won't hurt him.

we went to a wedding reception for dougie and kelly
the son of the people we rent from
the reception was at our bishop's home, who has cows.
emi was not happy to turn around so i could take a picture.
it was past bed time and a no nap day. oh wait, everyday is a no nap day.

i believe emi was at my parents house
so i let makai have at it with emi's dolls
which are usually off limits when emi is around.
he was in hog heaven. swinging her all around.

makai was intrigued  by the water
as eddie was cleaning out the cotton dust
emi on the other hand was about to explode with excitement.
that i was actually gonna let her go swimming.

so happy to be in the water.
i didn't get a picture of it, but her "cousins" came (doug & kay's grand kids)
they all had life vests on and emi decided to kick her kick board across the pool
she basically cried the whole way, freaking herself out
that she was going to fall off. she didn't but it was hilarious.
like she jumped in from being so excited to swim with them
but forgot she is a little rusty at swimming.

we went to logan's wedding reception (david's brother)
ashley and david came to town.
emi had the best time on the dance floor.
she cut a rug and let loose. it was hilarious.

she even got eddie to dance, which is a rare sight.
we had a great time, and i escaped with only one mosquito bite
a small miracle, since i have sugar blood.

makai was up way past his bedtime. he enjoyed people watching
then he danced with londyn, ashley and david's niece.
i don't have any friends that have babies the same age or even close to makai's age.
so when looking at londyn from afar....i thought, hey they are the same size
and then i remembered she is like 13/14 months old.  makai is only 8.
also sporting his comb over, heavy on the lotion to lay it flat.

makai is up to 7 teeth. we've had a wonderful month (insert sarcasm)
one second i wonder if he is sick. the next second he is fine and dandy.
and that dumb comb, is his favorite thing to chew on.

emi loves to go over my parents on my moms days off and help in the garden
this specific day we dropped something off to my parents
and emi got out of the car, for what i thought was to just give gma a hug
except for she tapped on my window to roll it down
she then informed me she had some work to do there
and to come pick her up later. she is hilarious. and growing up so fast.

makai insists on sitting with this leg up every single time.
he loves people watching and craves the pizza crust.
those dang teeth of his. he bites pieces off, so we have to be careful.

not even kidding. emi does this when she is tired
but can't admit that she is tired.
her eyes are burning and heavy. i am glad i finally got a picture.
come 4:30 this usually happens. luckily she goes to bed by 7.
unlucky that she wakes up by 6:15 every single day.

my cute happy boy. he is all over the place.
getting into all sorts of things
standing up against things and feeling helpless.
not to mention he is a big wienie.
when he is blocked access from things he cries and cries.
if he can't reach something, he cries and cries
if he sits down hard from standing, he cries and cries
if he falls over from sitting somehow, he cries and cries.
luckily he's a snugly baby and we have lots of hugs and kisses to give.

first swim

last week and the week before we had a heat wave
getting as hot as 92 degrees during the day.
emi took a nap one day, so she was rewarded with swimming.
so we had our first swim of the season and makai went "swimming" as well.

makai had no clue what was to come.

his first reaction was a little discomfort but no crying
then he smiled when he looked up at me.
he didn't go in past his knees.
the water was freezing, basically like hose water.

emi and eddie had a fun time splashing each other.

emi tried pushing eddie in. it was freezing.

then she splashed him. she totally holds her own.
she is a feisty one.

although emi had lessons last summer and was swimming on her own
she is a little timid with the water.
she can't seem to find her goggles, so she won't go under water.
so we are starting over, saying hi to the 'fishies'.
her swim teacher is gone at BYU-I for the spring semester.
so hopefully she will be back to swimming by the end of summer :)

mormon helping hands

the last saturday in april our stake/ward participated
in mormon helping hands.
our ward was in charge of laying new bark at two parks
and cleaning/pressure wash the high school football stadium.

i stayed home with makai since it was during his nap time
but once he woke up i made my rounds
and took pictures of our ward members, for the bishopric bulletin board
emi enjoyed herself at the park while they waited for the bark to be delivered

makai sported his BYU hat, looking so cute.
thank you quigley's!! he takes it off if facing forward
which makes sense, i think emi started taking headbands off at this age.

mini eddie. love him!

emi enjoyed water and donuts while the adults worked.
she ended up leaving early with me to help set  up the luncheon.
she looks like a ragga-muffin in this picture.
messy bed head (but not her worst), shoe untied, snotty nose. ha!

eddie getting his service done for the year...ha! kidding.
there he is with the red hat.

dad was the 'leader' for the HS stadium.
by the time i got to the stadium for pictures he was just finishing the power washing
while all the kids were playing football on the field.
another successful year with serving the community.

happy birthday eddie!!

eddie's birthday was on the 23rd of april
(playing catch up on the blog)

eddie went to work like a normal day
and the second he walked through the door
emi was ready and waiting for him to open his presents.
intently watching him open up her card. she's hilarious.

of course, it is a picture of him and her.

the week prior we had been at costco.
i liked that shirt, eddie said he had enough shirts.
well, fast forward the day before his birthday
emi insisted we needed to go to costco to get daddy his work shirt.

eddie received money, gift cards and a new hat.

the week before i had a minor accident.
i dropped my phone in the toilet.
i had left my phone on the bathroom ledge when giving emi a shower earlier
i was holding makai and as i went to get my phone.
he leaned way back to look at emi in the opposite room
and i swiped my phone straight into the toilet while trying to catch makai
from falling out of my arms.
after drying it out, it still works but am having major storage and home button issues
a new phone would be nice, but not in the budget at this point. boo!
my point....i have one :)
the same night that happened, eddie was looking at my phone
and his mom just so texted me that they got a hat and a gift card
as he was investigating the phone. bummer! no surprises this year.

cheesing it up for me as i took pictures.
emi was in charge of candles. i was hoping she would put one on each cupcake :)
eddie officially feels old at the ripe age of 31. ha!
he doesn't look a day over 21 to me.

if i wasn't makai's main source of food
eddie would be his favorite person hands down.
that boy loves his daddy and i love to hear him squeal like a pig
in excitement of being with his daddy.

i couldn't decide on just one picture.
later that night we went out to eat at some southern bbq place.
had gator and frog legs. sick.
it was disgusting alright. eddie liked it and that is all that matters.

i swear they look so much alike.
obviously different coloring and makai's nose is crooked.
but to me they look the same.

another haircut

dun...dun...dun... playing catch up again
i plan to dedicate all day tomorrow to catching up on the blog
besides, laundry, cleaning, entertaining and feeding of the little children

makai has crazy hair. i am afraid for it to grow all the way in
you can see behind the rooster wave his re-growth
which is stick straight and really weird
cause his sides and top get wavy when wet.
i personally think he has uncle russell hair.

no matter what i put in it, it sticks straight up
and everyone and their dog comment on it.
so after asking eddie a couple days in a row, i finally cut it again

this boy loves the bath
seriously the happiest baby i've ever met
i hope he is always this happy.

ahhh! the fake, forced smile by emi.
she cracks me up.
emi loves to help with his bath.

while i finished bathing makai
emi worked on a little snack project.
it was my idea. i suggested she put one on each one.
so when i checked in with her and she was done, i had to come check.
well she literally just put one, on each one.
i then elaborated and explain on each object.
she liked that even better, meant more snacks.

finished product. not much better.
i literally cut over an inch off and it still looked too long.

plus he has this section that just wants to go the crazy.

oh emi. she didn't want her picture taken.
yet was more than willing to be in the picture with makai.
just didn't want an individual picture.

makai is so ticklish. and if tickled in "his spots" he laughs so hard.
he has since figured out to pull her hair.
emi use to think it's funny but more and more she isn't enjoying it as much.
imagine that :)

full on teething mouth rash, poor baby.
i am thinking his hair is eventually going to be the color of his eyebrows.

i like this picture for some reason.
this is his tight mouth face, trying to protect his teeth
from me trying to look and feel them.

i ended up cutting his hair again the next morning. and has an awesome comb over.
pictures to come of his comb over. i actually like it.
