iphone pictures

these are some of my favorite pictures from the last two weeks.

her new smile.
acting like a baby.
(i've been babysitting a 3 month old a could days a week
so when the baby comes over she acts like a baby)

posing in the tub.
followed by a eeeee!! she wants to see the picture.
rag-a-muffin hair.
this is what it looks like when she won't sit still.
along with a picture of her new smile.
another lovely smile.
babysitting the baby.
i love when she falls asleep in the car.
she's so peaceful looking.
out in the snow...
she was actually brave enough to touch it.
pretending pretzels were fries.
wishful thinking!

this week...

emi and i were suppose to be in utah visiting gma
instead we stayed home (will be coming out in march, instead)
she caught a nasty cough and cold
she pretty much has looked this miserable for the past few days
we didn't want to spread our germs to gma
last time we visited, gma caught a cough/cold
and was on antibiotics for a month.
so we played it safe this time and stayed home.

we finally have a system down:
natural/herbal cough medicine, tylenol,
baby vick's rub every four hours
and suction of the nose when needed.

her new smile

along with a little potty update...
we have hit the two week mark of potty training.
we haven't had an accident since day 3.
i don't want to jinks myself...
but i'm pretty sure she is trained.
we are still working on staying dry at night though.
{eating her treat and showing me her sticker}

she has also moved on from her training potty
to her sesame street insert thing.
seriously....and i thought the one eye'd smile was bad.
i've had a few people ask me how we did it...
the whole potty training thing.
well for one, emi was ready.
so my initial decision was to try it for one day
kind of to see how it would go.
which has turned into two weeks.

first, we started off naked
and i think this is where her being ready worked in my favor
she knew she needed to go, so she would run into the bathroom
with me following close behind her.
she didn't want help.
i would ask her every once in a while if she needed to go
but for the most part i have been letting her be in control.
i did read somewhere you can set a potty timer, like as a reminder
but i wanted her to learn for herself.
after about 2 days i put underwear on her
she fought it, she wanted to stay naked.
but i insisted and she peed through two undies
sitting on the toilet but not knowing how to get them off.
that's when i realized i needed to step in a little.
so ever since then i have been helping her pull her undies down.
then she started wearing clothes.
by the fourth day, i was ready to venture out.
we went out only for an hour.
and once i got to my destination, i immediately took her potty.
and took her again before we left for home.
since then i have gradually increased the time out.
the longest we have been away from home is 3 hours.

i'm a little nervous for our plane ride next week.
but i think we can do it.

another first

i thought she was done with "firsts"

emi has been battling her naps.
like serious drag out fighting me for 2+ hours.
(her kind of fighting is jumping on the bed, acting like an alligator being caught trying to find a comfortable position, reading books, saying she needs to go potty...while giggling all the way to the potty, standing on the rocking chair, etc, etc...you get the idea)
so we were surprised when she drifted off to sleep
while eating, i mean picking at her dinner.
we finally tried out the reclining seat feature.
the bad part about her skipping her nap
and falling asleep before bed time was...
she woke up at 11pm and stayed up until like 2am.

twenty two months

another month has come and gone.
we are approaching 2 years old pretty soon.
emi has been keeping me super busy
so i haven't taken nearly as many pictures
as i usually do.

over the last month:
she tries to use my camera
has to "eee"(see) every picture i take.
loves to dance...
she will ask me to turn on the music to"ants"(dance)
tells me to "um on" (come on) while waving her hand
still learning her colors.
she will point them out but will not say any of them
except "boo"(blue)
if i ask her to repeat me, she kind of does
but not really.
emi refuses to eat raisins or craisins (which use to be one of her favorite snacks)
loves sliced apples and eats them like a watermelon
loves peanut butter and nutella
starting eating two yogurts in the morning
emi still enjoys watching oswald and sesame street
and can only sit for about 30 minutes through a movie.
she loves to eat "papom" (popcorn)
and miniature marshmallows.
says "bore" (more), "eee's" (please), apple
"anna" (banana) juice, "tank you" (thank you)
"e ya ate'a" (see ys later), "elp" (help), "op" (stop)
and much more...
emi has developed an imagination.
anytime she see's an ice cream cone
she goes...yum, num num num (kind of like cookie monster)
has the funniest laugh
when mad she throws her arms in the air
and says something, but we are not sure what
she likes to read the same books over and over
hugs any animal in a book.
or if there is a door, she knocks on the page.
emi loves to dance/jump on our bed
puts herself in time out when she does something naughty.
goes number one and number two on her potty.
when i ask her to bring me something
she say "just one" and puts one finger up
when she doesn't get her way she walks away disappointed
sometimes she even sighs, like alright...
she definitely is growing up right before our eyes.

growing up

this past week we kind of - sort of started potty training.
after talking with a few "veteran" mom's
they pretty much said to jump on the potty training train.
so i decided to test it out one day
which has now turned into 5 days.
and going a lot smoother than i anticipated.
the first two days i just left her naked
she would tell me, she would go
then we would celebrate with a jelly bean
no accidents. yay!
the third day we went and got some undies.
which she really didn't want to wear.
but once they were on she was o.k. with them.
she kind of sort of had an accident
she went pee on the potty with her undies on
so to me, it wasn't technically an accident.
she knew what to do, just not how to take her undies off.
so after the "accident" we went back to commando
but with some clothes on, since it is the middle of winter.
i'm happy to report she hasn't had any accidents
and has been dry during her nap times.
the problem now...how do i get her to wear undies?
let alone some clothes...
we don't really have places to be or people to see
but eventually we have to leave the house.

storytime

she kills me!
i sure hope she gets a new smile before kindergarten starts.
this one eye'd business is just silly.
we decided to try out story time at the library today.
we learned about germs and boo-boo's.
we read all sorts of books and colored a picture
and learned how to use band-aids for boo-boo's.
this is emi's first time ever really seeing a band-aid.
she didn't even try to put it on herself.
went straight to the paper, like a sticker.
---
emi has been helping with chores.
she loves to take the plates out of the dishwasher
and put the soap tablet in the dishwasher.
she carries laundry and shakes things out.
her newest help...holding the vacuum cord.
and dusting/cleaning this table.
i love having such a good helper.

toddler bed

after 3 nights of climbing out of her crib.
we decided even though we aren't ready
for her to be in a toddler bed, she is
we don't want her to hurt herself.
nap time was a little rough
but not bad, she stayed on her bed.
and bedtime...straight to sleep
no whining, for the first time in a week.
but since then, oh man!
i tried taking anything out that would entertain her
but she is just so excited to be in a big girl bed.
today after 2 hours of trying to get her to stay in her bed for a nap.
she decided to go sit in the corner "time out".
she knew she was being naughty.

today

today i put together her kitchen
it finally arrived.
took about 2 hours but it was totally worth it.
we put all her "baby" toys away
now she just has baby stuff, kitchen stuff
and books and puzzles to play with.
thank you momo and poppy for the kitchen
and gma and gpa for filling it with food...
pots and pans, plates and other stuff!
the finished product without the silly faced girl.
this is going to sound ridiculous
but i chose this kitchen because it has no stickers.
well and it's cute. but the real reason...
emi is a picker...scab picker, booger picker, etc.
if something is peeling she picks it.
so i went with a kitchen that has no stickers to pick off.
and this little stinker is having such a rough time
adjusting back to eastern standard time.
if she isn't up late, she is up super early
and she's been crying/whining...which she has never done.
the other night she whined for 45 minutes.
i went in to tell her she was ok and needed to be a big girl
and she said...no...in her crying/whining voice.
i tried really hard not to laugh.
i read all these books tonight before bed.
she no longer wants to sit in my lap
she wants to sit next to me.
and i think i read at least 20 books a day to her.
sometimes i just describe the pages
because i'm sick of the actual story.

just a few pictures from my phone

during the month of december 2010

enjoying some cotton candy ice cream
discovering her pockets, while collecting rocks.
double digger.
trying on tanner's snowboarding helmet.
smiling very big!
when did she turn 12?!
enjoying her toy from her happy meal.
reading with daddy.

wild thing

this is the smile i would love to get when i ask her to smile.
but this is what i actually get.
doing what i asked her not to do all day.
the girl is obsessed with lifting her dress.
laughing really hard at something.
even though she looks like a bear or some crazy animal.
she is one crazy girl!
a little snippet of our wild thing.

movie night

emi had her first movie night ever
it was the original toy story
she only sat through about 30 minutes of it.
maybe i need to try a princess movie?
and that popcorn, most of it spilled on the floor
when she started jumping on the bed.

waffles

hmmm? i'm not sharing my waffles with you!

she seriously has had messy face every morning.
she's been eating honey nut cheerios out of a baggie
to hold her over until we wake up to eat breakfast.
and the sugary stuff has been making her sticky.
tomorrow is our last full day here in california.
i'm am so looking forward to sleeping in my own bed
emi in her crib...all night long
and not coming into my bed at 3:45am
she has gone from her own bed, to a couch, to sleeping with us
to now kicking eddie out of the bed and hogging the bed all night with just me.
