11 inches

i have been growing my hair out to donate for a long time. after emi was born i went in to get it chopped off/donate it but i was short like an inch and my hair would be super duper short. so i said no thanks and just got a trim that day.

it's no secret that i wear my hair up pretty much everyday. so one day last week after all day i took it out of my 'messy bun' and eddie told me i looked like him. troy polamalu! i don't watch a bunch of sports but i totally knew who he was talking about just by his name.

i decided then i was going to cut my hair no matter how short it had to be.
so i donated 11 inches.
eddie had no idea i was going to cut it. he was pleasantly surprised.
when he walked through the door he had a confused look.
then he realized my hair was short not just tucked behind my ears.
this was right when i got home, i took a pic for my mom.
it's short but i like it. i can still put it in a ponytail, which is like an inch long.
i am afraid though to see what it looks like curly.
i bet super short. but that is ok cause hair grows back.

visits with GG

i try to go over to my grandparents a few times a week.
they love having a baby around and to be honest they don't act as old.
i think it is healthy interaction for them.
and they melt when she smiles or coos.

all they do it hold her.
and they kind of fight over her. like ok, my turn.
it's funny.
here is emi watching tv one day.
she seriously loves the bright colors and flashes.
just hanging out on the couch.
she hates to lay down and would rather be propped against something.
sorry about the poor quality, these pics were taken off my phone.

gma d visit

while my mom was here she wanted to get a generation pic.
gma and i weren't to happy about it. neither of us got ready for a pic.

gma randall, gma darm, emi and me
my angel baby
gma darm and emi
my mom got some e-mail awhile back about this picture.
like generation to generation.
so we did it while she was here. emi was not having it.
she didn't like having her hand forced somewhere. but it turned out good enough.
then my mom wanted one with my grandparents hands and emi's.
those are about the only pics i took while she was here.
it was great to have her visit and help out.
i tried to get a bunch of stuff done around the house while i had a live in/free babysitter.
thanks mom for coming to help and visit.

memorial day

i had the best memorial day ever. eddie was home and watched emi all day while i caught up on sleep. all i did was feed her. seriously. i slept in until 10:45, i was like oh my gosh i have a child! is she ok? did i not hear her?...forgetting eddie was home. he was just down on the couch with her, hanging out. first thing he says to me, what are you doing up? go back to bed. ha! i love him. i told him i was hungry, which i was. it was almost 11 for crying out loud. so i ate and went back to bed until it was time to nurse. then back to sleep for a afternoon nap until about 4:30. then we decided to go walk around the cemetery.

i have really enjoyed living near the cemetery. it is so pretty this time of year with all the flowers and decorations and family visiting. i enjoy walking around and seeing how long people lived or didn't. one of my favorite memories, a sad one... besides being locked in with jessica one night. this old man, it was like the first week we moved in. i was driving by and i saw him fall to his knees and he was covering his face. crying. probably wondering how the heck he would going to live without her. i could feel his love for his wife. totally made me cry, i felt bad for him. i personally have never had anyone die close to me. so before moving near the cemetery i always wondered why people went to go visit. now i know. to be with loved ones.

usually when i go walking in the cemetery emi is in her stroller and usually asleep. this time eddie carried her in the baby carrier.

she loved to stare at the trees.close your mouth. trying to catch a fly?
eddie says that to me all the time and emi does it too. ha!
she was so interested in all the trees.
maybe i will go take a blanket and lay out while she stares at the trees.
or would that be creepy.
i couldn't even get her attention for a pic.

two months

this was the best i could do, since she is in bed already for the night.
i might do a re-do tomorrow for something cuter and with her eyes open.

man does time fly.
today she turned two months and had her dr. appt.
here are her stats:
weight: 81% 12 pounds
height: 57% 2 1/2 inches
head: 34%

her shots were not that bad. i must have no emotion because i didn't tear up or even feel bad for her. is that awful? i guess i just knew it had to be done. nothing like being woken up for 3 shots.

i thought for sure she was way heavier and taller.
her car seat thing is already so heavy and she is only 12 pounds.

few things about emi:
she holds her binkie in with her hand or arm
still hates tummy time
loves bath time
coos and grunts at us all the time
smiles when she see's us or when we get her attention
loves the ceiling fan
sits in a bumbo seat
loves to watch tv
starting grasping a toy and tries to bring it to her mouth
(she usually only makes it to her chest)
had her first big ol' blow out
loves to stare at trees
rubs her hair when trying to sooth herself
went swimming
sleeps in 6+ hour intervals
rarely cries, only when starving or over tired
loves her binkie
would rather sit up than lay in your arms
loves to see what is going on
busy bee....always moving around
loves to stand

she has been so fun! and i love spending time with her.
i am so lucky i don't have to go back to work.
(i'm on call, ever heard of that with an office job? as long as i still have a job until my office closes)

i have been going back and forth about piercing her ears. now that she has had her shots and i can do it. i think it would be so cute and they would be all taken care of by me but then i sort of think it takes the innocence of a baby away. i'm trying to decide when to do it. i know she isn't a doll but i was traumatized by getting mine pierced and re-pierced and think it would just be easier to do it now. i know for sure before 6 months. so don't be surprised if you check back one day and they are pierced.

cutie pie

i thought these pics were cute of baby e.
did you know alot of people called her that even after she was born?
now that she is almost 2 months people finally call her by her name.
or they call her ellie, or emma...
i use to get called amanda or april all the time, by random people.
or 'whoever you are' by my mom when we use to get in trouble and couldn't get our names straight in the moment of anger.
did your mom's do that?

anyways...back to my cutie pie pictures.
this was tonight.
i was trying to get a picture of her smiling.
this is her excited face.
but i thought it was funny with her hand in a fist.
like she was gonna punch me or something.

"wanna piece of me?" "why i otta!"
wish i had photo shop so i could add little pasties. oh well. one day.
this was this morning.
she smiles so much at the ceiling fan.
i can't wait until she laughs cause i am sure she will at the fan.
i caught her smiling as she looked at me.
i love her.
i'm anxious/excited for her 2 month appt. on tuesday.
i am for sure she is fatter and way longer.
her 3 month clothes fit perfect and she is thick.
she even has creases on her forearm. and her butt smiles (has dimples).

vegas baby

so my older brother was out in vegas last week from the DC area for a computer geek conference.
you know your a computer geek.
so we decided since we don't see him very often we'd make the drive out there.

some highlights of the trip:
  • wynn buffet...they slice the crab legs in half, so there is no cracking, just eating
  • sitting poolside for 2 days straight...went from nasty pasty white to just pasty white
  • in-n-out and jack in a box
  • dying mom's hair with a toothbrush...we left in a hurry on thurs and forgot all the supplies, except she had the dye. saturday night about 8:30 i thought about sally's. i looked up the closest one and they were open until 9. mom and i hightailed it over to sally's. mom called on the way to say, don't close. the girl told mom a different one was closer, so we hurried. we drive up, lights out! they closed at 6. mom was so made at that girl. that led me to walmart. trashy! my three favorite things about my visit to walmart.
    1. the guy in front of me asked the 'white' checker if he could get a beaner discount 2.i saw a 3 year old boy with a rat tail down to his rear 3. a guy with pads in his hands asked if this is what women use ....seriously i wanted out, fast.
  • stayed at hooter's one night for $24 (the do not disturb sign said, no knockers. ha!) why we left in a hurry on thurs instead of waking up early on fri
  • getting creeped out on the way there, on the side of the road...so we pulled off the freeway so I could nurse emi. it was one of those exits that had no services and there were no lights. pitch black. we're sitting there and all of a sudden we see this car a distance behind us. eddie turns the lights off, so did the car. it was so creepy. we left, the car followed us onto the freeway. so creepy.
  • taking emi swimming...which was like a parade. we stayed at the hilton, straight sun on the pool but my parents stayed at the wynn. it's family friendly but most don't bring kids. so everyone wanted to see her and asked how old she was, etc. i think it made them miss their kids.
  • so when we found out we were prego we planned on announcing it with the personalized m&m's.
we traded in some credit card bonus points for $120 in m&m gift certificates. well i called and ordered them and the lady says the gift certificates are for m&m world and can not be used for the personalized ones. grrrr...change of plans. so last time we went to vegas we forgot them, this time we didn't. you'd think having $120 to blow would be easy it wasn't! we got a bunch of mugs and a onesie and some kid dishes, candy...our total was $119.23. money well spent.
  • we also went to the coca cola store. that is what the pic above is.
we did the tastes of the world. for $7 you could try 16 international flavors.
some tasted like cola, or sprite...some tasted like the juice of an otter pop and some tasted down right nasty. which was funny cause the worst one was beverly from italy (that's my mom's name, beverly, not italy) it seriously tasted like cough medicine. it was fun to try them though.
i don't know who those guys are, my mom mentioned i didn't take a pic for the blog. so i took one real quick while they weren't paying attention with my phone.

here is emi. happy and full before the wynn buffet.
this was after we got home to run some errands but thought it was cute.
on the car ride home.
her attitude was WAY different. she cried most of the way to vegas.
i seriously asked who invited her. she slept most of the way back.
eddie did a great job driving both ways.
i have some pics of him but don't feel like finding the chord to the camera.
laying out by the pool. love those chunky legs.
this picture is super red. we got this lady bug canopy thing for her.
we had to put a towel behind her because it is technically for 9-18 months.
alot of people asked me where i got it, and if they made them for adults. ha!
the minute we put her in the pool she would close her eyes.
once we got in the shade she would peek and look at us.
we thought she was sleeping, she wasn't. just enjoying the cool water in 100 degree weather.
with vacation and visitors her night schedule has once again changed.
for the better.
now she is eating between 11-12pm and sleeping until 5:30, eating again and back to sleep until 9:30. that is why i am able to finally post about vegas.

p.s. i am not sure what is wrong with my font. when i preview the post it looks fine. when i publish it, it looks all crazy and the lines are all weird. oh well.

ain't no spida bite

thank you vanessa for your comment.
it was indeed chalazion (lump in the eyelid).
had to get a antibiotic. z-pack baby!
funny thing was...
after posting yesterday i was finishing up painting our bedroom.
and i came across a spider.
i had great pleasure vacuuming the spider.
thinking it was the one that bite my eye all up.
too bad it didn't bite me. but now it won't even have a chance.
hopefully it is suffocating among all the dust in the vacuum.

i know your not suppose to use these bumbo things until babies are 4 months or can support their necks. but tummy time just doesn't work around here and i don't want her to get a flat head and maybe have to wear a helmet. so my mom and i tried the bumbo to see how she would do. she looks happy. she was happy. she's in it right now as we speak. sometimes she looks like a bobble head, other times she is stiff as can be looking around the room.

vegas update to come soon. i have to unpack first and do some laundry. maybe unload the dishwasher. watch oprah. play with emi then maybe i will post about it.

i should be painting

my mom was here last week to visit with emi
and also to watch her so i could paint and de-clutter before we put our house up for sale

this is from the downstairs bathroom, i remembered to take a pic after starting
this was the first room i painted when we bought our house
i was sad to paint it, but not everyone likes bright blue and green

anyone have any advice on healing a spider bite of some sorts on an eyelid
this past weekend everyone stared at me if i took my sunglasses off
like i have a shiner or something
started last wednesday and has gotten worse over the weekend.
sad thing is, it hurts worse to itch it...so it's like an itch i can't scratch.

thank you paul mitchell school for my $3 eyebrow arch.
did i mention we went to vegas over the weekend?
that is a post all by itself.
i should be painting the bedroom while she is sleeping
instead of blogging.
check back for the highlights to our weekend road trip.

why do they know

why do babies know when your excited for something?
this is her, while doing this post.
my mom is coming to visit today and emi will not take a nap!
when i started it, she was sleeping, for 5 minutes.
she a.l.w.a.y.s. sleeps from 9 to 11:30.
she is so tired.
but when i try to give her a pep talk to go to sleep, she is all smiles.
she must know she is coming and is excited too.
this pic is from last week.
nasty eyes and all she is so cute.

few more

i forgot to mention in my other post who the photographer was.
her name is brittany g and is out in lehi utah.
eddie wanted a pic in this cup so bad.
looks uncomfortable!
she started to roll to one side on this stool.
we seriously all gasped and jumped.
she didn't fall though but close. very close.
this didn't turn out as good as i wished.
but isn't she the cutest little chubby baby at 5 days!

eddie made this tutu.

i really like this photo too!
well i like them all actually.

5 day old photo shoot

before emi was born we decided we wanted to do newborn shots of emi.
weird to look at these pics because she has changed so much already.
emi was 5 days old and did so good.
besides pooping on a cream colored blanket. yikes!
here are just a few i really liked.

this is my favorite one.
that's the cream blanket she pooped on.
only in a different position though.

so putting this hair piece in, i pushed hard to make the clip close.
she squirmed...almost cried.
i realized why. i was pushing right onto her soft spot.
i felt so bad.
cute family photo.
eddie has a weird smile. it's his soft smile.
that is what the photographer asked for.
i think his smile is silly, but whatever.

i bet she could have slept like that all day.
this is an example of #1.
my gma does it, my mom does it, i obviously do it and so does emi.
whenever relaxed that is what our hands do.
eddie always makes fun and asks if i'm #1.
so when we saw this pic, we laughed.
