Hoppy Easter!

{april 12th, 2009}
amazing how fast babies grow!
{april 4th, 2010}
we didn't do a whole lot.
watched conference and visited eddie at work.
kind of weird not to have somewhere to go.
but i wasn't about to cook a easter feast for just us.
emi went straight for the tag of her new crocs.
(which don't fit quite yet, but watching her try to walk in them was funny)
she still likes tags. but not like she use to.
no candy, because she only likes jelly beans
and the easter bunny ate them days prior to easter.
(i guess you could say my no sugar diet isn't working out so well.)

a day in the life of me

(please excuse my homemade, real quick, grab whatever i had extra of...crib rail)

7:15-7:45am ....baby alarm clock goes off.
when the times changes back, it goes to 6:15-6:45am like clockwork.
if she sleeps in, which is never....but the two times it's happened.
i thought for sure she had suffocated, but of course she was fine.

7:30-8am .... nurse emi

8-9am .... play time and i either play with her or watch the today show.

(don't judge i put her in front of the t.v. ...she eats and leaves me alone = mission accomplished)
9-9:30am .... breakfast time
when we need to leave the house by 10am, she eats and watches yo gabba gabba while i take a shower and get ready. if we don't leave she doesn't watch t.v. while eating.

9:30-11:30am ... play time, errands or the zoo

11:30 -11:45am .... nurse emi

(she always wakes up happy and if she doesn't, she goes to bed early)
11:45-1:30/2pm ...emi takes a nap
i take a shower and get ready for the day if we don't go anywhere.
sometimes i take a nap, other times i work on craft projects or clean up her toys.
i just have to be very quite because emi is such a light sleeper.

1:30/2-2:15pm ... lunch time for emi and i

(i can clean up her toys and within 15 seconds they will be a mess again)
2:15-3:30pm ... play time

3:30-3:45pm .... nurse emi

3:45-5:30pm ... playtime and/or go get the mail
depends on if we have been out and about.

5:30-5:45pm ... dinner time for emi

(random picture....i probably take at least 25 pictures a day of emi. )
5:45-6:15pm....play time

( i let her "air out" before bath time, she's only peed on the carpet twice)
6:15-6:30pm .... watch my nakie bear run around before bath time

6:30-7pm ... bath time

7-7:30pm....nurse emi and bedtime
depending on how tired she is acting i put her to bed, but never past 7:30
no matter what time she goes to bed she wakes up at the same time everyday.
so mine as well put her to bed early.

7:30-10:30pm...mommy free time

10:30-12am .... lay in bed and watch t.v. until i fall asleep.

*i swear by a schedule. if we are ever off, she has an off day. which means we are all crabby.
on sunday's it is different because of church and she is awful during church.

**yes i'm still nursing emi. and i will as long as she is interested. with her being allergic to milk and sensitive to soy, we decided it would be best if i could continue. eventually i'd like to just do a morning and night feeding but right now she is interested in more than that... so interested, she pulls on my shirt trying to get to them when it' "time".

the thought was nice

yesterday my visiting teacher called
to see if she could drop off some cookies.
who says no to cookies? not me.

so she drops them off this morning.
i don't really look at them when we were chatting.
i close the door, all excited to have cookies for breakfast.
i was sorely disappointed!
who makes sugar cookies with no frosting?
at least there are sprinkles...

emi's 12 month stats

emi playing with her birthday toys

weight: 20 pounds 14.5 ounces
height: 30.25 inches
head: i don't remember

we had quite the experience this morning at the dr.'s
i always make my appt. the first appt.
i hate waiting at the dr.'s!
we got there right at 9 am, when they open
and there was a couple with a sick little girl

they take the girl back
then the dr. comes and calls us back (which i thought was weird)
the dr. starts asking us questions while i get emi undressed
all of a sudden...
the nurse knocks and swings the door open
they needed the dr....there was an emergency
followed by lots of spanish
and the mom of the girl hysterically crying
after a few minutes an ambulance came...

for the next 25 minutes we entertained emi
with anything and everything we could find in the room
finally a different nurse comes in
like nothing is wrong and starts measuring emi
we ask if everything was o.k.
we could hear everything from our room....
except we don't speak spanish.
the little girl had a fever of 105 and had a seizure
we sure hope she is o.k.

by now we have been at the dr. over an hour
and it's emi's breakfast time
i knew we would go downhill fast
and we did! she's like me.
hungry=crabby
the nurse pricked her finger for lead and iron testing
emi balled! she cried so hard she blew snot bubbles
until i brought our some snacks.
the waterworks turned off in seconds
all while the nurse is pinching her finger to get blood out.

then the dr. came back in.
i felt bad for her...not starting her day off that great.
she checked emi and said emi was doing great
but was concerned about her allergies.
emi is allergic to the proteins in dairy, eggs
and a little sensitive to soy
she read the write up from the allergist
and suggested a epi pen

the nurse assistant that came in to explain how to use it
was sicker than a dog!
yakking all over our breathing space.
i wanted to tell her i'd read it on the internet.
instead i said i would ask the pharmacist.
so she'd leave the room.
i'm sure she thought i was rude but i didn't want her germs.

the other nurse came back in with 3 shots.
and lots more crying from emi
hour and a half later we were finally done.
longest dr.'s appt ever.
and to think i make it at 9am
so we could be in and out quick.

then off to costco
$60 later we have ourselves 2 epi jr. pens
the pharmacist tech lady told us something discouraging
her niece is also allergic to milk and eggs
and still is at the age of 9.
the allergist said if she out grows it
we will know by 4 years of age.
i sure hope she out grows it
cause milk and eggs are in a lot of thing.
i feel emi eats lot healthier than most kids
cause most of what she eats is fresh fruits or veggies
but it still stinks that she can't have the finer things in life
like ice cream, or cake...or even scrambled eggs.

i just need to remind myself it could be worse.
she's "lucky" and just gets a bad
splotchy rash all over her body.
instead of being physically ill.
i'm sorry to those parents that do have to deal with that.

i guess this turned into more of a dr office horror appt/allergy vent
rather than her stat update. sorry.
all that matters is, she's happy and healthy.
which she is....

birthday fun

with emi's birthday a few days before mine
i almost forgot it was my birthday.

the day started off with emi's dr. appt
followed by a quick trip to costco (my favorite store)
then to cracker barrel for breakfast, also my favorite.
and homemade pizza for dinner.
and creme brulee for dessert. yum!

i'm so excited eddie finally bought me food processor.

i also got a new deep frying pan, gift card to joann's, money for a pedicure
and the flip was an early birthday present.
i lucked out this year!
thanks for all the calls, texts, fb messages and cards.
i've had a great day!!

twelve months

wow this past year flew by!
emi has her year appointment on monday.
so i will update with her stats then.
she is getting into everything.
she has learned to open cabinets....
but once she see's me catch her she closes it real quick.
when we tell her no, not to touch something
she gets mad and hits it or messes it up.
if we can't find emi...she usually in the closet.
(meaning, we don't hear her for a second...not that we let her roam the house)
she carries our shoes all over the house.
she brings me things,
especially stuff she isn't suppose to have.
we go to the zoo at least twice a week.
she gets so excited when i put a jacket on,
i guess she likes to go out and about.
she's a walking machine.
she rarely crawls.
she has the shortest legs and the longest torso.
9 month pants fit best and 18 month shirts fit best.
finds pleasure in being naughty.
she knows she isn't allowed to touch but obviously gets a thrill.
yells/talks really loud while grocery shopping.
inspects her binkie more than sucks on it.
starting to learn to climb.
went up her first stairs at stake conference.
practices at the zoo, since we don't have stairs.
gives hugs and kisses.
started shaking her head no when i lay her down for nap.
she makes you work hard for a smile.
loves babies!
squeals when really excited.
loves her daddy!
says da...mum, mum, mum...
and something that sounds like baby or ball
and lots of other random sounds.
still allergic to milk and eggs
learning to eat with a fork
loves jelly beans
starting to be a pickier eater, but will try anything
hates having her face wiped after eating
if her nose is stuffy she blows out...which can be good and bad
got her first molar

i'm so glad i have done these updates to see how much she has grown.

almost

when she wakes up she will be one!
she's gonna have no idea what's going on.

her birthday outfit is all ready
(i tried to duplicate the cupcake)and her presents are wrapped.
she's making out like a bandit!
thank you for the packages grandma's and grandpa's.

now all i need to do it make her dairy/egg free cake.
wish me luck...i'm putting jelly beans and peeps on it.
so if all else fails, at least she can eat the candy.

field of daffodils

there is a field of daffodils at the zoo.
i wasn't sure if you were allowed to walk through it.
but we saw some other kids running through it
so i thought i would take some pictures.
all she wanted to do was watch this girl run around.

she was more interested in the dried crunchy leaves than the flowers.
maybe next time i can recruit eddie to come
so i can actually get her to look at the camera.

first boo boo

if you would have asked me last night.
i would have said:
corner kitchen cabinet= 1 ~ emi=0
but this morning i would have to say
corner kitchen cabinet=0 ~ emi=1

her hair is all wet from icing her boo boo.
this is this morning
practically nothing....
a little redness and a tiny line.
i thought for sure it was going to be black and blue.
all i did was ice it.
i think 5 ice cubes.
she just laid there for me to ice it.
i guess she doesn't mind brain freeze.
my mom asked if i used a butter knife on it
i guess you can put the flat part of a butter knife over a goose egg and see saw it back and forth and that is suppose to help it not get swollen.

breakfast fiasco

i thought it would a good idea to make things green for breakfast.
things were looking good...green eggs and green pancakes.
imagine....i'm cooking up a storm.
going back and forth from the eggs,
to the bacon on the foreman to the pancakes on the skillet.
breakfast is all ready, so i go to wake eddie up.
seconds before i step on the carpet from the kitchen
i notice a green mess...a.l.l. over the kitchen floor.
holy green mess! everywhere!
(please excuse my non pedicured feet)
of course i think it is emi...and i search her for green. nothing!
i guess a little piece of dried green food coloring fell to the ground.
and i obviously stepped in it.
and tracked it all over the kitchen.
i'm just glad i caught it before i walked on the carpet.

Happy St. Patrick's Days!

random tidbits

these are just some random thought going on:

i love talking to gma everyday.
today she was in a play at the retirement home.
i asked how it went...she just said she was glad it was over.
i'm assuming it went good.
i was thinking she was going to say it went great.
but then i remembered she lives in a retirement home and most of them are losing their memory and the rest of them can't hear anyways...

why does the weather man say it's going to be 60?
feels more like the 40 to me...
and when it's zero percent chance of rain, it rains.
but when it's 60% chance, it's sunny outside.
i'm ready for spring/summer

i want to see this movie.
but i can not stand her voice.
and sadly, i don't think i will even rent the dvd
not even for a $1 from redbox

i made myself a chore chart
so i would clean the house over time during the week
instead of all in one day
it's not working!
i look at it, and think...i'll do it tomorrow.
then tomorrow comes and goes.
i've been staying home for almost a year now
and i still feel unorganized

i hate not having any friends here.
i'm not lonely...i have emi and eddie.
but people at church have been far from friendly.
maybe it's because we aren't here for x amount of years for medical or dental school.
and they don't think i want to invest my time to make friends.
or maybe it's because they have 2+ kids and don't have time to hang out.

i'm on a no sugar diet...have been for a little while
that didn't stop me from going down the easter candy isle
can you believe they don't have these?
the person i asked had never even heard of them. i was shocked!
good thing i'm not "suppose" to be eating them anyways.

i want to jump on the coupon train but not sure how to.
i've done a little research but feel like the coupons aren't things i buy.
then i came across this deal.
and now i'm trying to re-convince myself, that i do need to jump on the train.

i hate living in an apartment.
hate it!!
i use to think our townhouse was bad when the boys next door use to throw a basketball down the stairs and i could hear it hit each and every stair.
...or their mariachi band music when she would clean.
but this is bad!
i can hear the guy downstairs yell at his kid all the time.
the guys kid has one volume...yelling!
they slam doors, making our walls shake.
i can hear other neighbors vacuuming, or their home phone ringing.
the neighborhood kids choose to play right outside emi's window
usually when she is napping.

eddie is working like a mad man
school, internship and two jobs!
i am so proud of him for working hard for our family.
too bad i just spend his whole paycheck at costco yesterday.
i can't wait for him to get a "real" job.
sometimes i wish i had time for a job so he didn't have to work so hard.
sometimes...and then i remember, i worked and put him through college.
but i still want to help.

i teach the 3 year olds at church.
and i love it. but i don't love i do it alone some sundays.
they are fresh out of nursery
and are still learning to stay in their seats and listen.
it can be difficult when i have emi to wrestle with and them going wild.
i got two compliments from the president and stake president on sunday.
on how well behaved they are and how interactive i am with them.
it was nice they noticed my hard work.

ok, i think that's it for now.

oh wait...and i love my baby emi so much!!
she makes my heart melt everyday!
even if she wakes up with a poopy most morning.
not really the first thing i want to do when i wake up.

the end.

happenings

the weather is getting warmer everyday.
we try to go to the zoo and be outside as much as possible.
she really enjoys the playground at the zoo.
she still isn't sure about the swing.
some days she likes it, other times she doesn't
she definitely doesn't like the slide.
i love this picture.
she points at all the animals and says hmm!
we found a new park with ducks.
but since we didn't know there were ducks,
and didn't bring any bread
we just played on the swing.
this is the big smile she does
when she see's the picture i just took on the camera.
it's always her, but she loves to see it.
she has been learning to fold her arms for prayers.
it only lasts a few seconds...
but a few seconds are better than no seconds.
she's so proud of herself.
does that cute face look like she has a new molar?
we noticed it the other day...
weird how some teeth cause lots of "teething" symptoms
and others you just notice it when it's breaks through.

yoga

she is so silly.
she likes to reach through her legs to get things.
she also likes to do somersaults.
i can't wait until she can go to dance and gymnastics.

so cute!

my brother sent me this picture of emi's cousin claire.
erik asked who she was drawing....
she said...it's baby emi. i love her!

looks like emi with all that hair.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

video of emi walking

everyday she is walking further and further.
she is getting so big, so fast!

curls

someone at church asked me if i curled her hair with a curling iron.
really? do i seem like i would use a curling iron on my baby?
i guess i should start wearing my hair curly more often
to show she got her curls from her mommy.
the front is stick straight but the back....
it's nice and wavy.... and out of control!!
she recently started "combing" her hair.
she never actually combs it...but almost.
i can't wait for it to get longer.
hopefully it keeps some curl.

my workspace

when we moved, we decided to get an apartment with an office on purpose
so i could do my crafting and a place for the computer.
well ever since we moved in, i do my crafts everywhere but the office.
maybe this is why....
it's always a disaster!!i finally decided to clean it up.
and hopefully will be using it to finish my projects.
speaking of projects.
that whole stack of fabric is up coming projects I have been meaning to work on
since...oh...october.
you'd think staying home and not having a job would give me free time.
