sit and shoot

when emi was this age

i would sit and take pictures of her...just being her

so one night after his bath i decided i should do the same with him

and i have to say i am totally shocked emi is in none of these.

she was running in circles around is little play area

which will soon be where the christmas tree is.

 

i love his feet.

 

he loves the giraffe.

 

caught him mid-sneeze.

 

 

watching his crazy sissy.

he doesn't last very long in the bumbo

he acts like he is too big for it.

i love putting him on the counter and he watches emi run all over.

i have to be really careful cause he bucks all the time.

emi didn't start doing this for at least another month or two.

i put him in the corner of the couch

and as i was cleaning up his play area

he tried to act like he can sit up

i just kept shooting, hoping to get him in the shot. ha!

 

 

he always wants to sit up. always.

pulling his feet up and neck forward as if it's gonna work out.

later that night we headed to gma and gpa's for something.

i already forgot...these were from like 2 weeks ago.

bath time

mr. makai loves bath time.

he is almost too big for the bath tub, height wise.

but he doesn't sit up yet, so it's a little awkward.

i finally figured out what those scrapes are from

my ring. it kept getting caught.

eddie and i thought it happened during the move.

he kicks and splashes so much

that i have to put a towel down on the ground

and also in between the tub and sink.

i can't wait until he can sit up in the sink.

problem with not using the flash 

and not knowing how to use my fancy camera correctly

or to it's abilities i should say...

is he is blurry cause he moves so much.

he wasn't so sure about the flash.

poor child has a crocked nose, ha!

weekly updates

i'm super far behind and i'm just gonna combine last week and this week.

so that i can move on with my life, ha!

as the enrichment leader the responsibility of planning our RS party was all me

i was then informed shortly after being called 

that RS was also in charge of the ward christmas party. awesome.

my committee sucks and i basically planned and executed both parties.

luckily the counselor i work with is super helpful and did whatever was asked.

i do have an awesome person on my committee that is awesome with decorating.

we had the RS party on tuesday and the ward party was on saturday

yes, in the same week. i must be crazy.

i left the decorating up to my committee member

and she decided in the 11th hour she wanted snowflakes.

so glad last week is over.

not only was i in full party mode

but emi came down with a nasty head cold and cough

her first big real nasty cold.

i tried to quarantine her into her room...with doc mcstuffin

as to not share her nasty cold germs.

she was pretending she was at the beach.

after asking 4 different people to be santa

and tracking down a santa suit that wasn't super cheap looking

my dad was so nice to volunteer.

he made an awesome santa! and did such a good job.

he literally asked each kid if they were good listeners and helped around the house.

our ward party was a breakfast with santa theme

so i was so happy my santa pulled through.

we also had each auxiliary perform an act.

the primary kids sang...and emi thought she was in primary

she obviously didn't know the song.

she is so excited to start primary soon.

on sunday i stayed home with the kids and baked lots of treats

i honestly made some late saturday night

so i was able to finish things up sunday.

i tried to quarantine emi again to try to keep makai from getting sick.

so all along emi has been wanting a dog pillow pet nightlight

then it switched to the bug...too bad santa got her the dog

then on sunday as she was looking through the ads 

she came across the doc mcstuffin dr kit

she cut it out and taped it up.

put a bow on it and told ruby in secrecy to give it to santa.

luckily i think ashley and david will pull through on the dr kit, thank you!

we met eddie for dinner this week.

after being couped up all last week, planning and tending to the sick

mama needed to get out and about.

.....and that is when makai started coughing...sad!

but emi was trying to act like she was sleeping.

i almost bought it, almost :)

i seriously can't believe how big he is getting

he fits perfect into 6 months clothes.

i am anxious for his 4 month appt. next month

so i can figure out how much he weighs.

with his first cold makai is doing ok...today he has been the worst

but he generally is in a good/normal mood.

at night, that's a different story.

he gets grumpy

he isn't running a fever, so i haven't given him anything

makai is still so cute though.

today his cold made it to his nose.

it's still very thin and clear but i feel so bad suctioning him

he doesn't seem to mind it, which is weird to me.

oh how i love this sweet boy.

why do my children think before 7am is an acceptable time to wake up

makai's internal alarm clock is between 5-6am

he will usually fall back asleep if i bring him in to bed with me

this day he slept until 9am!!

emi woke up at 7:15, which was sleeping in

too bad she went to bed at 11pm the night before ...

...why i don't mind if she doesn't take a nap.

from 7:15 to 9, emi kept coming in

i'm hungry, wake up...i wanna watch tv...ugh!

she would not let me sleep in, in peace.

on wednesday i took a tumble down our stairs

which are steep!! i fell down about 6 stairs

it was such a blessing i didn't injure myself at all.

i'm a little sore today but that's nothing compared to the wall.

i did a somersault and my shoulder landed in the wall 

and my head/face landed in the laundry basket full of clothes i was carrying downstairs.

and i am so happy i wasn't carrying the baby or something.

when i talked to eddie about doing ginger bread houses

he wasn't interested...and said he didn't want to

so i went ahead and let emi decorate her own

eddie was sad when he got home and missed it.

she literally ate that whole bowl of kisses.

emi was in heaven with candy and an art project.

this was this morning, while waiting for costco to open.

i love that sweet face. he is all smiles

and doesn't sass me :)

when we got home after running some errands

emi wanted to watch a movie, which also means she wants popcorn

he watched her eat every bite.

seems weird that we can start solids with him in a few weeks if we want

i am going to wait until he is interested in our food like emi was.

in between christmas parties, neighbor treats and tending to the sick

i was able to get all my christmas shopping done and wrapped.

so excited for christmas!

when momo and poppy were in town 

we decided last minute to exchange christmas gifts

since we won't be together this year.

poppy was all ready with his camera.

i always like how he puts his glasses on his forehead to look at the screen.

emi knew just what to do.

except she was afraid to rip the paper.

she said: it's just what i wanted!

even though she had never seen the gifts before

when she sees a commercial for something, she says i want that

so it was funny to me for her to say she always wanted that.

and then there were reactions like this

such a rude little girl.

but i know exactly what she is thinking.

great, more food to clean up!

she rarely plays with her kitchen cause she hates cleaning up all the food

and dishes and what not. 

welcome to the real world emi, where you have to clean up after yourself

to make yourself the next meal :)

eddie thought i was going to buy this book for him

so i think he was genuinely surprised when he received it.

eddie is always about healthy eating

and to him this is the newest and greatest thing.

i look forward to hear what recipes he will request from it.

when we went to visit momo and poppy for thanksgiving

he brought home as much snowboarding equipment as he could

one thing he was missing, was a helmet.

emi makes this face a lot.

even though she has toys and books and coloring crap

to keep her busy for days

she does this: now what? look all the time.

 

makai was sleeping, i think...in the beginning of opening presents.

he likes to sleep sideways in his car seat.

and that works for me, since the swing needs a new motor

#fat kid problems

(new motor is in the mail....can't come soon enough)

 

i can't wait to use my gift certificate for my pedicures.

weekly updates

i'm two almost three weeks behind.

so basically it's a picture phone dump

makai right before his first haircut

sporting his 6 month monster outfit

momo and i almost didn't get it cause we didn't

 think he would be big enough for it.

after his haircut.

after wearing these overalls all day.

i'm pretty sure they are short-alls, not overalls.

 they were capri-ish on him.

emi baking cookies for the airplane ride the next day

too bad i ate all 6 of the ones we brought

she never even asked for them.

nursing the first time in public with makai.

she just sat and waited patiently for me

after we had a serious talk on why she couldn't go play the games.

mr. makai slept both flights and was super social

we sat behind an elderly couple

and they must have been hard of hearing cause they loudly said

they did a lot better than i thought, the baby never cried and 

the little girl wasn't a brat. 

the guy behind me chuckled a little with me.

emi is obsessed with doc mcstuffin

even so much that she has the episodes memorized.

gma was so excited for us to come visit.

and gpa too.

we sat and watched a woman paint on the glass

it was an interesting process to watch

one i'm sure i would have never taken time to do if not at a retirement home

there we were sitting and chatting

when all of a sudden no one was responding

gpa always sleeps but gma usually stays awake for visitors.

she was exhausted from holding makai and pushing emi around.

makai was the bed snuggle buddy.

makai and gpa watching football together

really gpa was sleeping.

something funny happen, well not funny funny

but they eat always at 12:30.

so we went to lunch and came back to their apartment.

gpa fell asleep for his afternoon nap

and all of a sudden woke up and started saying

we need to go, and hurry. they stop serving lunch!!

he had forgotten we already ate lunch.

when ashley came to pick us up she helped us out

emi said: i'm not sure about this

and it's funny there is walker parking instead of stroller parking

 emi was hilarious with diesel

she was so timid of him, he just wanted to lick her.

close your eyes for the prayer mom!

kidding, this wasn't during a prayer but i thought it was funny

he is finally playing with all his toys

grabbing for things. his favorite is still the giraffe.

miss emi, who claims she doesn't need a nap

taking a nap! ashley and david saw a whole new side to her

she woke up super crabby.

we finally made it to the quigley's where emi and i had so much fun

wish we still lived close.

this is when i realized makai needed another haircut.

who needs a bumbo when you have one of these chairs.

we enjoyed yummy, cheap macey's ice cream.

talking about their wedding.

just kidding!

they both slept the entire time, so nice.

until emi woke up and wanted me to carry her to baggage claim.

just cleaning the floors.

i swear she doesn't see me do this.

besides eddie is in charge of floors.

just working on her fizzy project.

we babysat a friend a year younger. he wasn't interested at all.

mr. makai is drooling a whole bunch 

emi got teeth at 4 months... so i wouldn't be surprised if he did.

and finally! ruby the elf appeared.

eddie and i have been having fun with it.

except this morning ruby brought her a book

and emi rolled her eyes so far back i thought they were going to fall out.

not sure she buys the whole elf spying thing.
