eddie's first 10k

emi and i are so proud of eddie
he ran his first race ever...a 10k
eddie has been training, working out trying to get ready
for his tough mudder in september

one day i was asking him how long the run was
for the tough mudder, he said something like 13 miles
we talked about how maybe he should run a race or two
for endurance purposes i suppose.
well come to find out, the tough mudder isn't 13 miles of running
i misunderstood... the whole course is 13 something miles
with obstacles mixed in. i think he will do just fine.

we were almost late to the race
i had to drop him off at the starting line, then go park
he thought i was just going to go in my jammies
he was shocked i planned to shower before 9 :) kidding
luckily they did a little flag ceremony thing
and the people in wheelchairs had a one minute head start
so we made it just in time to see him run by.

emi and i took a short cut and waited for him to run by
emi was proud of her sign.

eddie going strong...i think this was into the second mile
maybe even still the first mile.

then we hurried back to the starting line again
as the 10k racers were to run the 'track' twice.
while we waited we saw the chick-fil-a cow
emi is terrified of him and watched him the entire time
watching his every move basically.

we waited and waited for eddie to come around again.

still going strong after the 5k portion.

eddie's goal was to run the race in under an hour.

yay! he made his goal
the clock was actually wrong by one minute and 10 seconds
his finish time was 57:56

good job eddie!!

checking his per mile stats...

 the back of emi's poster.
she has now added arms and legs to her smiley faces
just a few stats: eddie came in 141 out of 341
and was 96/143 men
for his age group, not so good :) 28/38
but considering he was "late" behind all the 5k walkers
and it was his first race, i think he did awesome!!
the fastest 10k, was 35:05!

Good job Eddie! I don't even know the meaning of the word "run". Hate it.
