i had the opportunity to surprise my sister and witness the birth of her baby.
baby was over due and eddie knew how much i wanted to be there.
on sunday eddie convinced me to leave my babies for the first time ever.
i called ashley's sister in law to have her pick me up from the airport.
i felt horrible! my flight arrived near midnight for one thing.
but her husband was out of town too. but i had no other choice.
my flight was to arrive wednesday night and since we are usually up texting
i knew she would most likely be awake when i arrived.
well tuesday and wednesday ashley talked about trying to get induced on thursday
so then my mom jumped on the bandwagon and scheduled the same flight.
so luckily i got to call stacy to let her know.
our flight left at 6:30pm and she didn't decide until like 3:30pm.
we headed to the airport and eddie was on his own.
ashley knew mom was coming but had no clue about me coming.
so i texted her trying to disguise me coming.
so our layover flight was delayed and i talked trash about mom
choosing such a late flight. i tried anything to throw her off.
when we landed in salt lake, mom said: how should we surprise her?
so we decided she would stand at one number
and i would stand a few numbers down then when they drove by i would turn around.
it worked perfect!! she was so shocked.
and i've never seen a 10+ month pregnant person move so fast to give me a hug.
she was as shocked as i was that eddie was gonna tackle the kids for 5 days.
thursday morning we got up and got ready for her dr. appt.
my mom made her eat this huge meal in case it was go time.
axel knew something was going on but probably just wondered why we were there.
love this picture of axel.
and i am a dog hater...so i've been told.
i just don't like....animal hair, barking, dog poop....i could go on.
luckily her blood pressure was high.
she was dilated to a 3cm for like 3 weeks.
so dr. said let's do this!
sidenote: she was the dr.'s "nanny" for 3 years, so he is more like a family friend.
i took some pictures before we headed to the hospital.
we headed to the hospital and got all checked in.
they started pitocin around 11:30...or maybe it was noon.
goodbye baby belly!!
i took way too many pictures of ashley.
i was trying to find my inner birth photographer. ha!
they finally got her hooked up.
i think we got there at 11:30 but didn't get started on pitocin until closer to noon.
she had some paperwork to finish and reading to brush up on.
i had a good laugh she brought that book and had to take a picture.
i loved this picture.
david is hiding behind eating lunch.
she did do good throughout the day. she finally got an epidural at 4:15pm.
at 7pm we were gonna wait for her to get checked
then run out and get our cafe rio salad we had been craving all day.
well they checked her and she was complete!!
so no cafe rio salad...
dr. came in about 7:40ish to let her know he had a c-section at 8pm
and depending on how low the baby was he would come back after.
well when he checked, baby crew was right there.
so she pushed for like 20 minutes and he was out!!
crew david pertersen!! he's perfect!
8 pounds 7 ounces. i don't remember how tall...sorry.
i love little foot prints.
i loved this picture of david recording the whole check up
while ashley looked on with a smile.
he loved his little bath.
his head was perfect, no cone head.
must have been a quick exit.
when the dr. took our the placenta, he said: home sweet home! it was hilarious.
uh, or maybe you had to be there.
what did people do before technology?!
david recorded the entire thing and stacy (david's sister) face timed with his parents.
gma and her 6th grand baby....3rd grandson.
the next morning when we arrived at the hospital crew was sporting his first milk mustache.
ashley being served her first big meal. i thought this was so funny.
my mom probably tucked in her napkin too.
we hung out all day at the hospital.
catching up on sleep and holding crew....and taking pictures of him.
i love this picture of him.
and he has the cutest little dimple.
just like his cousin monster makai.
he snoozed the afternoon away, which is funny.
cause he is a super alert baby.
this is probably the most he's ever slept. ha!
then saturday afternoon they were ready to head home.
all dressed and ready to go!
he was perfectly content in his car seat.
headed home!
i love the nurse in the background looking on.
i'm not sure what was really happening here.
all i know was i was trying to "set up my shot"
and there goes ashley in my viewfinder. so i snapped a picture.
all strapped in and ready to go home.
introductions to axel were made and went well.
sunday we hangout relaxing at home and monday morning i headed home.
i was so grateful to eddie for staying home with the kids.
i didn't miss them much. that sounds awful. but i welcomed the break.
motherhood is hard and sometimes you need a break.
i missed the constant noise, well i wouldn't say i missed it.
but life was awfully quite for 5 days.
eddie survived and i think he realized how hard staying home could be.
that i don't just sit on the couch looking at my phone all day.
and i loved that i was able to witness the birth of crew.
i can't wait until he is old enough to wrestle with makai.
