makai turned 6 months on what would be february 29th....
except there wasn't a 29th in february this month.
i realized that a couple days later
then now weeks have gone by and i am finally trying to catch up.
despite the cute pictures below
...which i couldn't just choose just a few, by the way.
a majority of the pictures i took actually looked like the picture below
i am not joking when i say: my kid is cuter than yours :)
he is so happy all the time which adds to his cuteness.
anywhere i go, i get so many compliments
this is weird but i use to get the porcelain doll comment all the time with emi
but i think i get it even more with him, since he is so white.
he looks so different from emi
but they look related...sort of. depends on the day. ha!
they basically have different features and different skin tones
because people tell eddie and i he looks just like whoever is holding him
i still personally think he looks like eddie but lighter.
we have a big boy on our hands.
he still fits in 6-9 month clothes if they are two pieces
otherwise he wears 9-12 month clothes.
he weighs in at 18 pounds 7 ounces and is 26 inches long.
no wonder his car seat carrier feels like a billion pounds.
he is usually all smiles unless hungry or tired
even then he smiles and laughs....
especially if emi is around.
he is a people watcher and turns into people watching mode
with his mouth wide open usually.
despite being happy basically all the time
he is the worst sleeper.
we have a cat napper on our hands.
i never know when he is gonna take a nap or how long he will sleep
he will go to happy and laughing to rubbing his eyes and fussing in 2.5 seconds.
then when he does nap he usually only naps 30-45 minutes. it sucks.
my house is a constant mess cause i never have enough hours in the day.
and it only gets worst at night.
he hasn't slept more than 4 hours in his crib for over a month...maybe two
i'm too sleep deprived to even remember that long ago :)
we started a horrible habit of rocking him to sleep
then putting him in his crib. he would then wake up exactly 4 hours later
scream and cry...for up to 3 hours one night.
so we i would just bring him into bed with us.
well, eventually he wouldn't even go into his crib without screaming and crying
and after talking to some veteran mom's (more than 2 kids)
they all suggested letting him sleep in the swing
since he was sleeping in the swing for up to 12 hours at night.
so then we started letting him sleep in the swing so we i could get some sleep
then he wouldn't sleep more than a few hours in the swing.
phew! i'm exhausted just typing that out.
well...i've turned a new leaf and makai started sleep training last night
things are going well so far...that's all i'll say
so i don't jinks it :)
he loves his sissy so much, like smitten with her.
follows her everywhere she goes with his eyes
and laughs at anything she does.
emi swears he said her name. if you see her you should ask her.
it's hilarious. it sounds like a whale sounding a short word out.
if that makes sense?
makai sits up all by himself
is on the verge of crawling
and loves to roll to get places
except he isn't too adventurous yet.
he nurses 4 times a day
and eats food twice a day.
he just started food a couple weeks ago
and has enjoyed everything served to him
when fed applesauce he must think it's tart
since that is the face that accompanies each bite. it's pretty funny.
like the dr. said.
i have a stubborn, strong willed child
and the sad thing, he wasn't talking about emi
makai will not take a bottle or even try a sippy cup
he just bites the rubber nipple/sippy thing
in the last two weeks he has sucked a sippy cup, 2 full sucks
that's it.
so basically i am never away for more than 4-5 hours from mr. makai.
he is already having separation anxiety
and will cry or fuss when i walk out of his view
or if i have been gone and come back
if he hears me before he sees me, he will start crying.
he doesn't have an issue yet with me leaving...but i am sure it will happen eventually.
makai is very fair
with blue eyes and light brown/auburn hair
i think his hair color will be the color of his eyebrows
i have been training his hair with lotion
if un-lotioned, it will stand straight up.
he has his front bottom teeth.
his tooth to the right of his front right tooth is right there.
and i can see some white spots starting to show on his front upper left tooth.
he will bit skin off your fingers
he has done it to his own fingers, poor boy
the teeth he does have are razor sharp but so cute!
besides being a crappy sleeper.
he is a dream boat baby.
always so happy and easy going
and constantly laughing or melting your heart if you make eye contact
just ask the ladies in relief society :)
still can't believe makai is half way to a year old.
this time has flown by.
