emi's first day of kindergarten

{looks like the previous owners had a vinyl welcome sign...never noticed it before}

emi had her first day of school, kindergarten today.
she is in PM kindergarten. so she doesn't start until 11am.
which is good because even though emi rises early
she doesn't start functioning until after 8am.

i had to include this picture too, i thought it was hilarious.
she was not in taking pictures.

eddie really wanted me to take a picture of her in front of her school sign.
i didn't take as many pictures as i'd like but we have all year.

mrs. cody came out and got the kids.
we all walked in and mrs. cody instructed the kids
wear to put their backpacks and lunches.
then they were asked to find their name and sit down.

emi wasn't nervous at all.
she was like see ya! when it was time to go.
it was funny to me to hear all the wailing from kids
when mrs. cody asked the parents to say good bye.
it went from everyone being quite to loud crying from multiple kids.
i am assuming these kids have never been to preschool or anything.

makai was such a good boy.
he knew he couldn't touch anything
and could stand inches from stuff with his arms crossed.
just looking at it ever so closely, touching it with his eyes.
most pictures of him are blurry but i got this cute one.

i asked him to go over to her to take a picture.
as soon as he got close to the table
he couldn't take his eyes off of everything on the table.
and i think emi was looking at eddie.

once makai noticed there was a tub on the table
he was so curious but was so good not to touch anything.
overall she had a great first day.

soccer

emi started soccer. her first sport ever.
she did dance when she was 3 but she has eddie's dancing moves.
she was so excited to try everything on when she got her uniform.

she had her first practice.
before she got ready to even leave we had all sorts of conversations.
she was all: let's not do this! (randomly) i was like...let's not do what?
she said: soccer. i don't like to get hot and sweaty.
walking up to the field she said in a distressed tone:
ugh! why are my legs already hurting?!
and of course she had a fit after practice that her shinguards left marks.

when we first showed up she was not too excited.
she just sat and stared at her name on her ball.
she wouldn't even look my direction.

from this picture she doesn't look like she hates running

i think this is from their first water break.
she was all....ahh! finally.

they did a few warm up things.

for some reason she can't seem to get the concept down of just one foot.
i think part of it is, she is left handed but right footed.
so i don't think she knows which leg/foot is her dominate one yet.

i let makai free on the playground.
he tried climbing that spiral thing himself...cause he thinks he is 5.
he chased around a remote control car for awhile, that was fun to watch.

but my favorite thing i saw was when he was cheering for the boys
that were running by during their warm up.
he is seriously the funniest kid.

i don't understand levi brand shorts, those are like capri's on him.
and of course he is wearing his favorite shirt.
i made him wear shoes instead of his crocs and he was not happy.

at one point i was talking to another mom
and i saw him walk out onto the field to get that orange ball.
i look back and he cut into the front of the line
as the girls were practicing shooting into the goal.
i ran over and got him and carried him off the field.
he promptly walked back over to the side and stood like this.

practicing her dribbling, which is needs some practice.
but for her first time ever she did awesome.

kicking it in to practice making a goal.

at the end they scrimmaged each other.
emi and paisley are some of the taller/bigger girls on their team
so they played defense.

at one point emi defended the ball
and dribbled it all the way back to just in front of the goal
while she did that i yelled, go emi go!
she was not happy.
when we got in the car i got a scolding.
i can only cheer, go emi go! when she is playing a real game.
she cracks me up!

weekly update

this boy and his love for trail mix.
he was so excited and kept saying ya ya ya! over and over at costco.
he really only likes the m&m's and raisins.

this is seriously his best smile when he knows i'm taking a picture.
i think it's hilarious.
that menu kept him busy forever.
he kept pointing to all the food and signing food
and making a hmmm sound.

we decided last minute to go out and celebrate emi's last weekend
before school and soccer starts.

and we surprised emi by taking her to this new park by leatherby's
i have taken makai a few times but she had never been.

we were just waiting for them to knock heads.
emi won't take a serious picture lately.

sunday mornings eddie has bishopric meetings at 8am.
so that leaves me to get the kids and myself ready by 11.
i will say we are never late now that we aren't waiting on eddie.
i was doing emi's hair and i thought makai was reading books
like he usually does.
i walked in to let him know it was his turn to get dressed
and i walked into a colored mess! while i got my camera he shook his finger.
like what i do and say when he is in trouble, naughty, naughty.
luckily it wiped right up and emi learned she can't leave her markers out.
after a quick bath he was good to go.

i sent eddie this picture.
which left a big orange smudge mark on the wall.
while makai was in the bath, eddie walked in.
i guess no one showed up to the 9am meeting so he came home.
good thing cause i was about to post an ad for "almost 2 year old for rent".

part of my homework for makai's therapy
is to lock the cabinets to the 'pantry'.
which i have re-assigned to eddie.
this is what happens when i push everything back and out of his reach.
he comes up with other ways to reach snacks.
he is suppose to ask me/ sign he wants something to eat.

emi has been waiting weeks to bake some cookies.
we finally made them...just in time for her to use the last of milk on her cereal.
we have been flying through milk lately.
i get whole milk for the kids and 1% for us.
she used the last of the whole milk and said, where is the blue lid milk?
i had to explain we drank it last night at dinner.

weekly update

whaaa?? this is my 1,000 blog post.
that's kind of crazy to think.

i love sneaking into the kids rooms before i go to bed.
emi saw this picture on my phone and was not too happy.
she said, quit sneaking pictures of me.
i love how she snuggles that rock hard baby every night.

mr. paci addict.
and i drool all over my sheets all night.
why he wakes up multiple times a night i will never know.
i do know, i put him to bed with plenty of paci's
he just isn't willing to open his eyes or wake up enough to find one.

emi had a dentist appt
makai was a monster the entire time.
emi is still cavity free and was given the sad news
that she may not lose teeth until 1st grade...maybe even 2nd grade.
i feel bad for her since most of her friends have lost multiple teeth already.
i'm not sad about it because i feel like once she gets new adult teeth
her smile will forever change and she will look different.

every time we head to sprouts to get our produce.
we always stop by the pet store to see if
"any dogs are getting their haircuts" as emi calls it.
this day they had 3 kittens and emi turned into the crazy cat lady.
she especially loved the black kitten.
we even went back later to show eddie, since we went to the store on the other side.
and she was so distraught someone already came and adopted it.
she didn't care it went to a new home.
she just cared it didn't come to her home...which a cat never will.

emi had her last day of summer school.
over all she had a great time.
i was shocked she ate the school lunches.
and i'm proud to say she said my bean burritos i make are better.
i sure hope so!! but she loved the chocolate milk daily.

we invited gpa and tanner to her performance.
which we all missed and she will probably never let us live it down.
i read the flier wrong. the potluck started at 11:15
so when i showed up at 11:10 and emi gave me the stare of death
i was like dang, this ghetto school is getting to her.
but really i missed her speaking part and the entire program.
gpa and tanner walk in at 11:15, where she promptly let them know they missed it.
oh well, they ate lunch, visited and saw her class.

makai also had to have his picture taken with gpa too.
anything emi does he has to do...already.

even though emi is girly she always tends to make friends with the boys.
weird to think these kids are the same age.
and gives me flash backs to kindergarten...
i was too tall for the tables, like i couldn't fit my legs under.
so they had to bring in a desk from 1st grade just for me.

every single day we would drive by the car wash.
and every single time she would say how much she wanted to go.
and every single day i would say we would go on her last day.
well we finally went. makai was not a fan.
he went from curious to freaked out in 2.5 seconds.

date night!!
luckily tanner was able to babysit for us to go out.
we agreed on cheesecake factory and it was delicious!!

the next night he took emi out on a date just minutes before bedtime.
i figured they'd go to frozen yogurt or something.
then eddie sent me this picture.
her new favorite ice cream is raspberry sorbet.

before they left for their date she changed into her favorite dress.
so i mentioned wearing some dangly earrings
since she has never switched out her earrings before.
it was love at first sight.
so much so, she refused to put her old studs back in.

emi went over with me to gma and gpa's
i thought it was hilarious she was all sprawled out watching tv in their bed.
she was suppose to be helping in the garden.

emi spent the night at gma and gpa's one night.
so the next morning i gave makai some of her cereal.
she i won't be buying again.
she only likes the marshmallows....who doesn't?
makai was tickled pink as he begs every time she eats it
and she won't let him have any cause it is her cereal.

he was heaven picking out all the marshmallows.
this was the only picture i got with his mouth closed.
otherwise it was a rainbow disaster in there.

we took emi to get some new earrings.
there are so many options...and out of all of them
she chose the unicorns...shocker!
she gasped about 100 times. every time she saw a new pair basically.
we decided on the unicorns, some pearls and some hearts.

i love when i capture picture of emi's genuine smile.
we arrived at my gym early so we played in the car.
emi had a horrible time. she was super jealous just watching.
and i was shocked how much he paid attention to her.
at one point she sat down so we couldn't see her and he about freaked out.
stopping what he was in the middle of to go find her.

um! food truck mania.
i just go for the shaved ice.
but what we got was delicious...garlic fries.
and a grilled cheese sandwich with bbq brisket and mac n cheese on it.
i was skeptical when eddie ordered it but it was good!

the one down side is they don't have many kid friend foods.
and i wasn't about to buy a hot dog for $6.50
so we were parents of the year and fed them fries for dinner.
then of course we gave them a snack before bed.
