grandma

5 months and 4 days after gpa passed away
gma was finally able to escape her failing body.
we knew she would go eventually
so it was less of a shock than when gpa passed.

the girls.
donna, gloria, bev (my mom), debbie
oldest to youngest :)

the service was short and sweet
just what she wanted.
not all the cousins were able to come this time, they were missed

not really sure why they are smiling
maybe cause we were joking shortly before they would slip down the hill
as the normal road was being re-paved.
and there was a serious decline to get to the grave.

as i was preparing to take this picture of my sister
i stepped back and tripped over makai's car seat carrier
almost falling into the open grave.
i was about 5 feet away...but i definitely wasn't too far away to fall in.

the great grand kids putting roses on her grave.
it was a beautiful day.

there is this strange statistic that people married for so long
usually pass within 6 months of each other.
such a weird feeling to be so happy for someone
that they died, free of their body and probably
experiencing a sweet reunion
yet being so sad, that person is gone from your life.
i miss her love, kindness, and unwavering tendency to see the good in people
and her dedication to making sure that whatever came out of her mouth
was encouraging, uplifting, positive and good.
she never spoke badly about anyone. i hope i can be more like her.
there have been many days where i find myself wanting to call her
while in utah i kept thinking we needed to go visit her
and when we got home, i thought
oh, i need to call gma and let her know we made it home.
something i would have done.
and that's when it hits like a ton of bricks.

and this man. my love. my everything.
i didn't even have to ask if he was coming.
he was more than willing to drop work to be there to support me.
it's weird how a huge life change can make you love your spouse more.
kind of like when you have a baby, your heart swells a little more
not only for that new baby, but for your spouse.
i love you eddie. and i am so lucky to have you
you are a wonderful husband, father, son and grandson.

I'm so sorry Amber. I know you were very close to her. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
