zoo event

makai was invited to a special night at the zoo.

we contemplated not going because it was a little warm.

but i am glad we went.

they had all sorts of freebies: stuffed animals, carousel rides, face painting,

popcorn, icees, cotton candy and panda express.

makai has never encountered a 'character'.

it was hilarious because he wasn't sure how he felt.

with a safe distance between them he was fine.

but once the frog leaned his direction he would

put his arm up to cover his face and scream.

eventually this was as close as he got.

they had a huge arts and crafts area.

makai enjoyed trying to blow bubbles.

emi was in heaven with all the art tables.

she did these finger print cats all by herself.

makai really liked this lazy susan marker craft.

this was interesting. putting some sort of dye and spinning it.

finally emi decided to finish off the craft area with stencils.

 

while we waited in line for face painting emi blew some bubbles.

there wasn't a butterfly option on the examples.

but emi walked up and asked for a red butterfly.

makai got a snake on his arm.

he kept signing snake over and over.

makai really enjoyed watching the tortoise.

usually makai is strapped in the stroller.

so he was super excited to get to take a picture with the orangutan.

we went on the carousel a few times.

but this was the only picture i got of them.

they have a no phone policy so i snuck it.
