What happens in Vegas... stays in Vegas

Saturday afternoon Eddie and I arrived in Vegas. We learned our room wasn't going to be ready for a few hours, so we headed to the pool. Weird thing was, on our way to the pool there are some time share sales people. They asked us if we were married, we said yes, and then she said...To each other? Eddie and I looked at each other like what kind of question is that? To which the lady responded...you are in Vegas I have to ask. Guess that is what we get for vacationing in SIN city.

After the pool we went to the sports bookie lounge to watch the BYU game since our room still wasn't ready. Oh my gosh do those places smell like cigarette smoke. After checking in and getting settled in our room we headed out for the strip.
These were taken in the Venetian.
Then we headed to the MGM...I guess I should mention we bought a 3 day monorail pass. Even with that our legs felt like noodles by the end of the day. At MGM we saw the lion exhibit. They were playing with each other and then laid down for a little R&R.
I actually never went in NY NY, but I think Eddie did on our last day. While I was laying out at the pool. We stopped at The Cheesecake Factory for dessert before heading back to our hotel on our first night in Vegas.
The next morning my parents arrived. It was kind of funny how it all worked out. Eddie and I had been planning this trip for a few weeks and the day we bought our plane tickets I was talking to my mom. I was explaining to her that we were going to Vegas for a little get away. When she realized her and my dad would be there as well for a business trip. We had a fun time. My parents stayed at the Wynn, a 1,000 times better than our Sahara hotel. ugh. Kind of white trashy, but then again I have been told I have high standards.

This picture is of the entrance to the Wynn pool. The landscaping was so pretty. I didn't take any other pictures at the pool, cause who wants to see me in a bathing suit. We spend most of Sunday afternoon at the pool, ordering virgin drinks...while the cocktail girl looked at us crazy for not ordering alcohol.
Then later that night we headed to the buffet at the Wynn. Expensive but worth it. Look at those crab legs. They were huge and they were cut in half, so no work. Just pull out and dip in butter. And they had the best cocktail shrimp.
I tried a few other things, but I ate at least 2 pounds of crab and probably a pound of shrimp. The finished product. Just a word of advice...the claws were more work than the legs.
This was the view from my parents room. Lucky, guess this is what we have to look forward to when we have real jobs and aren't students anymore. Our room at our hotel faced a parking lot with the garbage dumpsters.
My mom and Eddie watching some light show from the room.
My dad out cold after the buffet. They had a double window room. Pretty at night, bright in the morning.
On Monday while my dad had to work, my mom and I hit the pool again and lived the high life. I could lay out by a pool and have someone bring me drinks and food any day. While mom and I got some rays Eddie hit up the strip, I was so done walking by then. These pictures are from him roaming the strip.

O.k. that wasn't very many...ha! About mid afternoon the cloud started rolling in, so mom and I changed to join Eddie. When we walked outside it was a down pour. You can't tell from the sky, but if you look at how wet the ground is you can see. There were all these tourist, I think from Europe that looks so mad it was raining on there vacation. We just ran thru the rain. And I have a confession, I did something disgusting. I took my flip flops off and ran so I wouldn't slip or fall in the rain. My bare feet touched the ground...I felt like I was walking barefoot in a public restroom. O.k. I feel better I have that off my chest.
We went and looked at the aquarium...wasn't really worth getting soaked for, but mom wanted to show Eddie since he had never seen it.
If you look under the W of the Wynn...go three levels down...all the way to the left....that was my parents room. The Wynn is so nice, no wonder it is so expensive to stay there. Fresh flowers everywhere.
We had a great time, even though my vote was for Disneyland. It was a great get away and Eddie and I had fun.

Viva Las Vegas!!

Our lives are pretty boring. Just the usual is going on, work. School started last week, Eddie is in his final year at BYU. Wahoo!! Since my 4 day weekends are ending soon we decided to take advantage and go on a mini vay-kay! We are flying tomorrow morning and staying until Monday night. Funny thing is, my parents will be there on a business trip on Sunday and Monday. Don't you worry, I will make sure Eddie gets a picture of me eating crab legs at the Wynn buffet. That is what I am most looking forward to, well and swimming, and laying out, and going to a show.

Alicia and Roger's Wedding

Ready for picture overload?
So Gma and I left Friday morning for Twin Falls. I didn't take any pictures on the way up or back...safe driving...Gma checked with me every few minutes to see if I was driving the speed limit.

Once we arrived in Twin Falls I made my way to Jerome, one city over where the reception was taking place. I have never been in the " sticks" before. This is what the main road looked like, but further down there was a house every few miles or so. Very pretty, but lonely at the same time.
Here are some pictures of the reception for those of the family that couldn't make it. I am glad I was able to show up early in the day because there was a lot of work to be done. This is the table where the cheesecake was, so yummy!
This was the seating, obvious. I hung those floating light things. I think they turned out cute.
This was the book signing table. It was a double reception, that was a surprise for me. As I was helping decorate I was like who's this person? It turned out cute and good way to kill two birds with one stone.
I couldn't believe she brought my family sign I made for her. She said she loves it, so that is a good sign. I really liked the black sign on the chair, guess it was custom made by a family friend.
Each of the couples had a table that displayed a slide show among other things. I really liked that quilt. Maybe that will be something I try next with my crafty fingers.
This was literally on the other side of the fence of the reception. Oh, I guess I should mention the reception was the night before the wedding. Roger's family raises dairy cows and no I didn't get to milk one like I wanted to. You could tell who the "city" people were...trying to swat away the nats and flies, while the country folk laughed at us.
Another funny thing was, the drinks served were water and a limeade with mint leaves. And most of the "country folk" wouldn't take any of the cups that had leaves. Finally one of Roger's brothers joked about getting there daily greens in. It was a fun time.
The two brides.
This was at the luncheon the next morning. This was the wedding party table. We each had to stand and say how were were related to the wedding party.
I got to sit next to these two cuties.
Alicia in the blue visiting with people.
In between the luncheon and the sealing we hung out at the mall and watched people jump off the bridge.
This is where they landed. Way far down there.
The LDS Twin Falls temple.
Waiting for the bride and groom to come out.

More waiting. There's Eddie's gma in the hot pink outfit.
Trying to be artistic with my photography.
The happy couple!!

Gma's Hambuger Sanwiches

These are my all time favorite thing Gma cooks. The recipe is way easy, oh wait...there isn't a real measurable recipe. Recipes are for the weak. Kidding, kidding. There is an actual recipe but I don't use it.

Ingredients you'll need: 1 pound of ground beef, small onion (diced), one small jar of pimentos(comes diced), small can of chopped olives and lots of cheese. I'd say like 3 cups of sharp shredded cheese is the best. Oh and chili powder, I don't know how much. A tablespoon?

First you brown the meat and onions. I use half of a small onion because I feed a picky eater.
Add chili powder to cooked meat. I don't measure, but I think it is around 1 tablespoon. Mix into meat and let it sit, I guess that is called simmer.

Then add the jar of pimentos and the can of chopped olives, like so.

Mix all together. Taste it if you want. But I think it taste best with.....

CHEESE!!! Add your 3 cups or so of cheese. I think the recipe only calls for 16oz/1 pound of shredded cheese, but cheese is my favorite food and so I add a lot more.

So...usually you have it on a hogie roll or a hamburger bun, or I have even had it on a hot dog bun. But I guess some kind of bread. All I had was sliced bread and I thought that would be ghetto to "show". So, I just put some in a rubbermaid thing and heated it for like 15 seconds to melt the cheese.
When having it on a hogie roll, or hamburger bun. There are two ways to cook it. The way Gma does it, which is... preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Wrap the sandwich in foil. Put on cookie sheet and bake in oven for 15 minutes. Or another way... if I am short on time, but it doesn't taste as good. Wrap in wax paper, or don't wrap the sandwich at all and put in the microwave for 30 seconds or until the cheese is melted. Enjoy!

Road Trip

On Friday Gma and I are headed up to Twin Falls for Alicia and Roger's wedding. So excited. For the wedding not the drive. For Eddie's side of the family that is interested. These are pics from the shower Alicia's friend Natalie and I threw for her.
It was at Natalie's parents house. So pretty!!

If you look at the table to the left. I gave her that red board. It says WYATT with families are forever through it.
We had a fun time.

It was cute...

I took Gma to see this movie last night. It was cute, but a little slow for me. But then again I am not a big movie watching person. Gma loved it. I'd suggest it and if you served in Austria you would have a great connection and probably love it.

Weekend fun...

After work on Friday Eddie and I headed up to SLC for the Tour of Utah. Some bike race for those of you that don't even know what the Tour de France is. Eddie's dad opened up a bike shop a few years ago...no not a Harley bike shop...a road bike shop, to clarify....anyways, ever since then Eddie has had a lot of interest in road bikes. Eddie was so excited to go to this. We even spent the night at Gma and Gpa's...in case it went late into the night.

We arrived, oh like an hour and half before the race even started. It started at 7:00pm. I got to see lots of bike riders get dressed, that was fun...since we were so early.

Eddie was like a kid in a candy store when he saw Rock Racing pull up. We even walked 3 blocks to find where they parked and hung out waiting for the rider to come out.

They even had their own security for the owner, Michael Ball designer of Rock and Republic Jeans. See the guy in the suit...

They had a whole caravan. One bus, some truck looking thing, two SUV's and car.

The guy, Tyler Hamilton, walking in to the bus was by far the most famous out of the riders. Eddie looked like paparazzi to get this photo. There were a ton of people trying to get his picture.

The race consisted of a bunch of riders riding around a two by two block radius for 60 minutes. Around and around and around.....no one fell.

Eddie was having so much fun!

I thought this was a cool shot. They rode past probably going at least 50 mph.

This video cracks me up. This is exactly why I don't enjoy sporting events all that much and sometimes get embarrassed. The screaming is not a girl...it is my Eddie. This was at the end of the race. We moved spots like 5 times to get a better view.

Then after the race we headed to Gma and Gpa's. We had the worst night sleep of our lives. The bed we slept on is probably at least 50 years old. We both woke up numerous times and with back aches in the morning. After breakfast Gma and I headed to the movies.

It was cute.

Then Sunday night we were invited by our neighbors to their kids b-day party. That was an interesting experience. We were 2 of like 6 people that only spoke English, out of like 50 people. All other conversations were in Spanish. They sang this cool song for the pinata for each kids turn, in Spanish. Then they sang Happy Birthday, in Spanish. Fun times!! Had some yummy Mexican food though. Overall, we had a great time this weekend.

Tomato Season

Last night I went over to Gma and Gpa to do my weekly "chores". Making the beds (takes me less than 5 minutes to make a bed, takes them an hour doing it together), clipping gpa's fingernails, trimming his ear hair... so his hearing aids fit just right, cooking dinner, socializing with gma, playing skipo 10 times, domino's, etc. Last night I made tomato sandwiches from gpa's tomato garden. They were so yummy!! This pic is probably about 25 years ago at there old place, where my mom and aunts all grew up. Maybe when things are in full bloom with his tomato plants this year I will take a picture.

In your face!!

This was such an exciting swim match. If you didn't see this relay race ...look it up somewhere and watch it. Eddie and I were both cheering really loudly. Then we realized how late it was... almost 11 p.m. and started laughing but were so excited. On a side note, I have never watched so much t.v. in my life. This weekend I planned to clean the house...too bad I watched the Olympics all weekend. I would have probably stayed home from church to watch them but I had to teach. I think my butt marks are still in the couch from sitting there all weekend.

Gelato...oh so yummy!

We took a break from the daily grind and went and got Gelato with Ryan and Piper. It was so yummy. Eddie and I have been wanting to try this place for a while. I got green apple (tasted like a jolly rancher), Eddie got cheesecake and some de luche/caramel flavor and Ryan and Piper got coconut. It's on center street if you want to try it.

We're Back!!

I have some disappointing news...I didn't take one picture!! I never even took the camera out of my purse. Sorry if you were waiting to see all my cousins and aunts and uncles in their bathing suits. Eddie did take the camera out for a chocolate bar game the kids all played. Oh well. Back to the daily grind.
